Mobil Super 3000 X1 FE 5W30 or Shell Helix Ultra Professional 5W30 Castrol is ok and recommended by ford (probably down to commercial reasons more than anything else to be fair), but as long as it meets the specific specification (important on modern engines) you won't go wrong with those brands you've mentioned above too. laumk7
Ecoboost engines use a different oil, 5w 20 I think off the top of my head (not 100%), so be careful to read the handbook before you add anything

Why would you use anything other than the recommended oil?

iantt
depends on the engine, the st can use either 5w20 or 5w30, theres no issue. the problem only arises on engines that use variable pressure oil pumps, thats the 1.0 ecoboost , then its 5w20 only.
kemp596
The st can use either 5w20 or 5w30,. However the oil is for my girlfriends 1.25 mk7 ... So 5w30 is what's recommended I went for the Shell in the end as it was a tenner cheaper 😊
dave1987
Go for the 5w30 in that engine, lots cheaper and more available than 5w20. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
