Squeal / Squeak when releasing clutch

Hi,

Got a 2006 1.4 Fiesta Ghia with ~75k miles on it and seem to have a bit of a problem with the clutch / gearbox. When I'm pulling away and the engine's cold, or changing gear particularly harshly (high revs) I get a reasonably high pitched squeal for about half a second as I'm releasing the clutch - after the biting point.

From what I've read, it's a fairly common thing with Fiesta's.

Anyone know what it could be?

Sounds like the release bearing.

Does it do it more under high load, like hill starts too?

Yeah it does.

Car drives like a dream the rest of the time, no odd noises - just this.

Does sound like the release bearing then.

Might be worth having clutch done too while it's all out if you want it fixed.

In the short term it shouldn't do any damage, not sure what happens if you leave it too long though.

I had the same problem on a 2009 model with 20k miles on the clock.   Never did manage to cure it and neither could Ford.   Still there when I parted with it.

I'm not too fussed about it if it's just a noise, as long as it's not going to do any damage. Does sound like a Ford thing. Thanks for the comments.

my old 206 gti done this as well, was the clutch release cable causing the noise, not sure if anything else was changed or replaced when i got this sorted but definitely not just a ford problem
