Robkop77
Hi all, I bought my father a 2005 1.4 Focus yesterday, it has 75,000 mile with a full Ford service history, very clean car. on the test drive all was okay, no problems but on the drive home I noticed it had a slight hesitation in the throttle at all speeds and nearly all gears! it idles perfectly, no engine lights and if you drive it slowly through the gears its fine but when you need to put the boot down it stutters / hesitates a bit but then powers on! it was serviced a 1000 miles ago and I'm thinking (hoping) its not serious and its something like a throttle sensor or something? any ideas or tips would be greatly appreciated! many thanks, Rob

Hi, My first guess is plugs / leads / coil pack. When the throttle opens, more air goes in, higher compression pressure, needs more voltage for the spark. So a weak spark could do it. Throttle body (& sensor) problems usually show up most at idle and low power range.
Robkop77
Thank you, I took the car for a short spin last night and it was fine but it had been stood for the day! Seems to be doing it when it warms up.
