Expensive MOT pass

Just acquired new MOT for my Fiesta econetic 1.6 TDCI 2009. It required new steering rack, new front lower arm, and a bush replacing on the rear frame the labour cost was £300. Was this good value or should I give this garage a miss in the future?

The invoice details steering rack priced at £90, there was some mention of electrical connections being transferred to the new rack

Possibly bigging the job up for a more substantial bill

I was told that there was not smooth movement from lock to lock

Sounds to me like they've been having you on mate.   I should give them a miss next time.

Is it quite high mileage or been used for local takeway driving or anything?  Can't say I've heard of a steering rack wearing out on a fairly young vehicle.  Roughness lock to lock is usually suspension top mounts or track rod ends in my experience.

Steering rack is the least of your worries with that engine!

Lol, it's not that bad, only 90bhp one and don't even think the Econetic has a DPF in 2009?
