Wiig
Hi. I have a FF 2006 MK II HB. The left rear speaker is dead. Can i change it with a unriginal or does it have to be a original speaker ?? I have pulled it out , and there is a plug with 4 wiring ???? Wiig
goldtail77
You could fit a retail speaker with some connector blocks. However you'd want to swap out both rears as they could differ dramatically in ability. Min a 2006 Focus, just get a replacement from a breakers yard for pennies. JW1982
The original speaker has a 4-pole connector because the original tweeters are connected parallel to the speaker. 2 wires run from the radio tot the speaker and from there the other 2 wires run to the tweeter. Cars without tweeters do often have the wiring for the tweeters fitted. The original MK2/MK2.5 Speakers have an integrated plastic housing to make them fit exactly between the door and the door panel. If you want to install aftermarket Speakers you have to use vehicle specific speaker adapters. These adapters have the shape of the original speaker housing and have mounting holes to install most aftermarket 16.5 CM Speakers. Next to the speaker adapter you also need wiring adapters to connect the Ford speaker connector to the aftermarket speakers. By using both speaker adapters and wiring adapters changing the speakers will basically be plug and play.

Wiig My apologies for trying to help save money in a 10 year old car. Before you do anything. It would be worth swapping Speakers in the rear. It could be wiring rather than the speaker at fault.
