2008 (Old Sytle) Ka, Wiper/Check Engine light issue

Hello all

On my way home this evening, my front and rear windscreen wipers cut out, stopping dead where they were. I pulled into a car park and spent about 40 minutes looking through my manual and googling stuff, before seeing something about replacing the fuses. I can't remember where I read that, but I thought I would try it. It worked, for a while, but after the change, I lost dash lighting. I also lost the heater on the rear window, but I didn't notice that till a little later. About an hour later, by wipers cut out again, and I noticed that the check engine light was on.

Any thoughts? Any help would be appreciated.
