Passenger side keyless entry not working - door handle module?

Featured Replies

Hi there, I wonder if anyone can help.

I have a 2011 MK3 Ford Focus with keyless entry which has been working fine for the last 3 years. But this last week ive found the passenger side handle now wont lock the car.

It locks and unlocks when I use the remote no problem. When I lock the car using the drivers handle I can unlock the car with the passenger handle. But I cannot re lock the car using the passenger handle. Does any body have any suggestions?

I had a low battery warning come up on the screen this morning. But surely if that is the problem i would have trouble locking from the drivers side aswell?

I did take the car to a garage and get fault codes read, and there was a code pointing to a fault with the door handle module..? I cant find any information on this? We deleted the fault but it did not return.

Thanks

Hi,

My Fiesta ST (2014) had a similar issue. Apparently the Keyless Entry has a sensor built into the door handle and a control module underneath the passenger seat.

Ford replaced the module under the seat eventually under a couple of days investigation, but were sure it was the handle as it's quite common with Keyless entry problems.

I'd try the handle first.

Nice one. Did you have to pay for it or was it warranty? If you did, was it an expensive fix?

Was warranty unfortunately!

So the door handle started working again after several weeks and a quote to replace the handle. However since washing the car at the weekend its stopped working again! Suggests there is water getting in somewhere. Anyone have any ideas where to start looking?

remove the handle and spray some sonax alloy wheel sealant on the electrical parts.

that was the fix for the mk2.5 , assume same will apply to the mk3

just had a look and the mk3 is now included in the fix.

Is there any information on how to remove the door handle as mine only works intermittent.

Hi if i change my keyless entry door handle and module do i have to re-program it ?

According to handbook I should be able to double lock the doors & have 3 seconds to check doors locked. Everytime I do this the door opens but if I lock the doors & walk away and leave the keys indoors & then go to car its locked. So it appears to be working but its very unnerving to walk away from the car without being able to check if doors locked! Any help appreciated
