engine oil

hello

I have a 57 plate Focus 2 litre automatic which I bought privately. The previous owner had just had it fully serviced but did not know what oil was fitted. It has not used any over the last six months but I would like to know what is the correct/best grade and type (synthetic or semi synthetic) of oil the engine requires. I do a mixture of local and motorway miles.

Many thanks

Alistair Kerr

My handbook advises Castrol Engine oil meeting Ford spec WSS-M2C913-C. Search the number without Castrol and you'll get a variety of manufacturers supplying compatible fully-synthetic 5W-30 oils. The handbook says any oil meeting that spec is suitable, it doesn't have to be Castrol. Halfords and even Tesco own brands have this spec oil.
