leesheffield1
So 2 weeks ago my pride and joy was written off! . A SkipSkip lolorry pulled out of a junction and went into the back panel and fuel tank filler cap. See picture. Insurance company did assessment and said there was structural damage which would cost too Much to repair. So I'm Guessing the fuel tank is attached to the chassis somehow and taken a beating. Anyway I am Absolutely gutted cos this was my favourite shape, model and colour car and I cant believe how sad I'll be to see it go after 3 years. On th plus side it was costing me an absolute fortune having tracking done every 6to8 weeks cos of stiff suspension and big 18inch alloys. So yesterday I went and ordered a 2014 1 litre EcoBoost Zetec in red. See other picture. Can anyone tell me anything to look put for when I get it problem wise cos I've got warranty till April 2017 and want to get things sorted early if there is anything Thanks Lee
chrisroberson99
Sorry to hear about your MK2.5, but at least it's given you the chance to upgrade! MK3 Looks great and you chose one of the best engines, I love my little Ecoboost. Any plans for it? Don't think there's much to look out for, I've had mine 6 months and it's been great. leesheffield1
I don't think there's much I'm going to do to this one. Probably over the first 6 months I'll get some little bits and bobs to go on to It but not sure. Possibly door sill protectors if it doesnt have them (can't remember) and need to get dash cam wired in. On that note can anyone tell me how to wire it in. On old car I used a fuse tap and wired it to ignition live fuse. Haven't searched forum yet but if anyone can guide me then all the easier for me lol
WES180
I think you will prefer your mk3 once you have it. Get yourself a remap or tuning hanset such as Superchips Bluefin etc and you will soon forget its only a 1ltr. If you miss having 18's then i have a set for sale off my Zetec S. Enjoy the new car! These are the wheels
leesheffield1
I do prefer the mk3 except the rear light cluster looking a bit phallic going into back panel! 😆 That is the main reason I got red because it doesn't show up quite so Much. What can a remap do to this e give then? Money is tight at mo cos saving for a wedding too. On the test drive it was not as fast as mine but I was more after economy if I'm honest. Getting 25mpg average was getting me a bit down Tbh lol
leesheffield1
Also thanks for the offer of wheels but I also Iike that the ones on it make the ride smoother with a bit of extra bounce and hopefully the tracking won't get thrown out every 6 weeks! WES180
I wired my Nextbase 402g dashcam into f86. I bought the wiring kit from Maplin, only took 10 mins maximum to fit. There is a seller on eBay selling them as seconds (grade a,b,c etc) and i got a grade a for £60 where as they retail at £149.99. It was brand new and unopened so i was chuffed with it.
leesheffield1
Are the fuses in the footwell like the mk2.5?
WES180
Ive never had to have tracking redone and i usually run big wheels and lowered. This is the first car ive not lowered actually. What are you doing in yours, trying to get some air off speed humps?

Paisleyjim
I agree the 2.5 zetec s is the best shape of focus. I'd commit murder if anyone crashed into me Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
iantt
i can see its the 100hp version, get bluefin and it will transform the performance and still keep the economy.
Tomson
Only things to look for generally is the coolant reservoir. Pants material and prone to splitting or the cap seal perishes leaving the coolant to evap into atmosphere. Known fault. Mine was replaced within its first year. other than that, enjoy it! Looks a beaut. I agree though, the 2.5 ZS is a cracking looking machine. I love driving the Mrs' 2.5 ZS - the 1.6TiVCT screams like a pornstar and goes like stink if driven properly!

I'm always worried bout performance. A very chips etc and will they affect insurance if ever need to claim. Is tempting though for bit extra power. Is there anything else I would need to improve I. E. Cooling etc?
iantt
Nope, just bluefin. Drives like a 2.0 n/a petrol then.
RAIDER32
So sad to see an Ocean Blue Zetec S (same as mine) get written off If that happened to me I'd be so gutted, But if I did have to replace it under those circumstances, I'd probably go with a Mk 2.5 ST as I'm not a fan of any of the early Mk 3's, But I really do like the Mk 3.5 ZS & ST, but they are out of my price range at the minute. James
For me the front end of the mk3 looks really awkward with the triangular front grille things and the rear end looks alright. The mk3.5 looks very good imo. Still would not stop me from getting a mk3 titanium with an ecoboost engine if I could afford one. The mk3 is a better a car overall.
