jockinafrock
I've just found out that I have a leak from the main engine oil seal! Haven't had a quote from garage to change it - is it a DIY job or am I wishful thinking!
stef123
It could be a diy job if you have the tools and the time. You will need to remove the timing belt to get access to it.
jockinafrock
Thanks for that - looks like a garage job then!!
jockinafrock
Garage has just told me that the job entails engine & gearbox out and flywheel off - approx £450 - all to replace a small oil seal! Mechanic mentioned that there is an oil additive which can "rejuvnate" oil seals - does anyone know of this "magic" additive!?
stef123
Ah so it's the main rear seal. Not so sure it's an engine out job though. Personally I'm not a believer of any oil additives, once a seal is worn it's worn.
