What's peoples New Years Resolution?

Or should that be a separate Thread?

I'm giving up Monster Assault Energy been drinking two cans per day for few years now,

Going to reduce consumption to only the weeks I'm working nights

Get ready for a Monster (excuse the pun) headache when you stop Lenny. I would taper off if i were you as going cold turkey when on your other shifts from all that caffeine will be a shock to your system. The bad head is inevitable!

My resolution was going to be to get a six pack by my 40th in August. Might just keep my top on instead and carry on enjoying eating crap!

My resolution is to be less of an annoying, miserable bast...  Ah who am I kidding!

But seriously - I want to find some sort of 'work' this year, something to give me a reason to get up and support myself, I don't even mind if it's one of those made up jobs they do just to humour useless people, I just really hate living off handouts that I haven't earnt, being in a constant state of existential crisis with nothing to take my mind off it or get me motivated.

I'm back to work on Tuesday,

I was dreading the thoughts of returning to normal and well having read your post it doesnt make me feel any bit different about it😅

I suppose making money isint much fun when providing for a wife and three children there's no excitement of "😯what can I spent my next wage on"😅😭

Its not about fun or excitement, I literally just want to earn enough to live on, don't want holidays or anything like that.  Its more about having a purpose I guess, and not feeling guilty about wasting rescources, letting the family down and having to say I don't work when people ask.  I would assume you get that feeling of purpose from having a wife and kids, only way I can think to get that is through working as wife and kids won't be happening lol.

I totally understand where your coming from mate, I was in your position in 2012 I took up an internship which was full 40hr week and you get an extra €50 benefit. I done it for 9 months as there wasn't any other work available at the time.

and over here if your unemployed we use the term "I'm a freelancer" works quite well 😁 "freelance mechanics" "freelance general operative" im also a freelance Gynaecologist 😉 #ShowUsYourGhi

I'm on around 1 litre of energy drinks per day now, so pretty much the same as you.  I have been worse though as I used to get through 2 litres (4 cans or 2 of the big bottles) and it got to the stage where even that wasn't enough.

After making a conscious effort to cut back, I can now survive on 3-4 cups of coffee and 1 litre of energy drink, spread out through the day.  That's still far more than you should consume (both caffeine and sugar), but it is lowest I can get to at this moment. On days off I just stick to coffee as I don't need as much energy, but when I'm working I'd literally fall asleep if I didn't have my energy drinks too.

As for my New Years Resolution?  Well, it will be the same as last years...  1366 x 768!

Jamie, drinking all that its no wonder you always say you feel like crap, have bad guts and headaches and then you smoke as well? My body would shut down if i carried on like that. Why so much? Do you exercise at all? I feel lousy if i dont workout, its suprising the positive effect it has on you.

It started out as a few cups of coffee per day when I was younger (15/16) and went from there.  I drank more as my tolerance increased and then incorporated energy drinks to keep my coffee consumption down and give me more of a "hit".

I don't exercise at all, my job is in an office and I drive everywhere, so that doesn't help either!!

Happy New Year everyone, FOC-cers, and lurkers alike:smile:

Resolution wise.

Like Ryan,  but without it mentioned in a signature, I have a rather a lot of mods I want to do to the Mk2 mainly this year.  Some of which have been waiting in my To do pile for close to 6 months.

Similar to Lenny, I must try to stop buying not car parts but obscure and specialised tools, that I don't necessarily have an immediate use for, but think "ooh that would be handy to have"

You know what will happen though if you do that, next job you do thats not going well, "if only i had bought that......!" Happens to us all. I just tell my dad about this great new tool, really sell it to him then let him buy it and i permanently borrow it, Ive quite the collection now!
