Hey guys,

I am getting the above error code, as well as the EML it's does the Reduced Accelleration and Engine Managment Error lights.

Only symptoms are the occasional sluggishness at low revs when cold.

im aware this is a camshaft sensor code, so could be something terrible on this engine like cam solenoid etc

But, is there anything related I should be trying first, would it be worth giving the ignition system the once over for example

Sorry to bump, anyone had a similar experience?

Does it happen all the time or just when you reach around 3-4k revs ? If so, could be the actual vct unit is knackered.

well if the code relates to the crank sensor , have you replaced it ?

crank sensor has nothing to do with the vvt system anyway , and often throws the car into limp mode , usually once the engine gets hot and the sensor insulation begins to break down

I've tried driving it keeping under 2.5k and it still does it.

Sorry, it's not crankshaft, it's the camshaft position sensor, which I assume is in the bowels of the engine!

ah , different story there im afraid with camshaft sens.

still its worth just replacing that part first before thinking its all doom and gloom.  :-)

quick look on eBay shows a new one can be had for £30ish.

the sensor location wont be in the bowls of the engine as a wiring connector has to be plugged into it , i'd expect it to be reasonably accessible.

Ok, I'll do some research on replacing that. I think I have a PDF Haynes Manual, plus Youtube. Could be a good starting point!

Update for anyone interested:

I replaced the Camshaft Sensor (turned out it was the one on the back after trialing switching out both). This has got rid of the DTC P0341 and has increased my MPG! (290miles per tank to 412 miles per tank) Very happy about that.

EML is now off.

I am still getting the reduced acceleration (Limp) issue intermittently and have a new DTC - P2300. So looking around the Coilpack it seems that it has been changed at some point as it's clean and can see marks on the Torx Screws.  The symptoms (after a ton of reading on here and the internetz in general) could be the pack, leads, plugs or the Coil Pack Wiring.

I'm going to start with the Coilpack plug/wiring, as I don't fancy changing the coil with the risk that the wiring disintegrates in my hand! Pigtail fix kit is on the way from SimtekUK. The job for the weekend will be to replace as much of the wire as possible plus the plug!

Further News: The car keeps not starting (not even turning over or attempting), so is now completely unreliable.

I've done the Coilpack, Leads and Plugs, and changed the Coilpack Socket - No change! :(

I've given in, and when I was next able to start it I've got it over to Mum's Cousin who has been in the trade for years. His son works for a Ford Specialist, so hopefully with their access to IDS they'll be able to crack it.

Because of the non start the thinking is it could be one of the following

  • the IC
  • ECU
  • Immobiliser
  • Maybe Crank Sensor.

SOLVED!

Turns out the IC was causing the Immobilizer to not work at all. My mechanic pulled it out and resoldered everything. All fixed for £120!

We reckon from the other codes being thrown up, it did need the coil and camshaft sensor too, so it's running very sweet now!
