Devonboy
Please forgive my ignorance but what is a Focus 2.5 My neighbour insists it's a 2.5 litre, A response would help so I can continue my life in relative peace.

yunii
Please forgive my ignorance but what is a Focus 2.5 My neighbour insists it's a 2.5 litre, A response would help so I can continue my life in relative peace. Here is a mk2 , which was built from 2005-2007. This is a mk2.5 or also known as mk2 facelift. Which has revised body better interior trim etc.but mechanically more or less same. Built from 2008(08)- 2011 (60). See differences both in pics . Yunii Sent from my SM-G925F using Tapatalk
Gizza11
Yes there is a 2.5Ltr focus. They are the Focus MK2 ST and the Focus RS and they are both real beats, the confusing part is that there is a variant to the MK2 Focus MK2 preface lift and a face lift MK2 2.5 its the way it looks outside and has an updated interior and .They both have the 2.5 ltr Duratec engine that has five cylinders the ST in standard form is 225BHP as it comes from the factory The RS has 300 BHP from the factory. They are easy to MOD with very good gains for simple MODs for example my ST is 340BHP but did cost a bit to get it there but in standard trim its easy to get an extra 50bhp by a simple remap without doing anything else so it would then be 275BHP .The RS is a different beast with a slightly different engine( much stronger made from factoryHas forged pistons and grafite lined liners among other things And can be moded to well I've seen on the internet 4200BHP and a lot more on some. The easy way to tell them is that they have two exhaust tips sticking out the back apart from the ST or RS badges and the fact that a moded one will pop/bang and crackle loudly from the exhaust. Devonboy
Thanks to all for the info. "RS", That brings back memories of a 1968 Ford Escort, life was easier then, when a pint of BP Visco Static oil cost 1/9p and a oil filter for 2/5p. a gallon of BP Super was 6/2½p old money of course
TomsFocus
It's a Volvo engine that likes to crack cylinder liners... It's also pretty low powered for such a large capacity if it's an ST...But it does make up for it with the noise!!

Old thread I know sorry that was a typo I meant 420 BHP the biggest power I've seen for a Mk2 is 670 BHP mods done by BD performance. And yes as tom says they can crack liners that's why you have the block mod done to prevent this although even with this done they can still do this or you can have if you have plenty of money your engine forged..As you can see from my Avatar that's mine having the block mod done
Dee_82
if you happen to be reading this from a search on the subject, just to confuse you even more, the mk2.5 is often also called the mk3, and the mk3 is often called the mk4, and the 3.5 the mk5. Not exactly sure why this happens but many of the parts ive ordered for my mk2.5 have come from Germany and for whatever reason they are listed as above. So if you are buying parts, don't pay too much attention to the "mark x" check the year and ideally the finis number :)
k_j_jacobs
can anyone tally this into a table? ie list what each one has or has more of
Stoney871
The reason that the mk scheme seems muddled is because Ford do not officially subscribe to one. They purely go bu the uear of the model. When buying parts, go by year to avoid problems.Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk
Dee_82
ah, well that explains that then, it also explains the wee hybrid cars we have on the road with mk2 front end and mk2.5 on rear etc etc :)
k_j_jacobs
do mk2.5 interior bits fit in a mk2? is my 2009 titanium a 2 or 2.5? (1.6 petrol)
Stoney871
Most parts are interchangeable (some may need minor modifications).A 2009 would be classed as a mk2.5.Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk
Dee_82
2.5, does your car have similar headlights to mine? there are some differences to the gear inside a Mk2 and 2.5, its pretty minor stuff, so will probably fit, if there was something specific just ask away, structurally, the car is the same thing, mostly cosmetic changes on the outside the biggest most noticeable difference is the front end, headlamps and bonnet are totally different, but the doors look a little different, as do the front wings and rear bumper....spoiler, radio, colour of the buttons on your centre console when you turn the light on, instrument cluster...... an a few other bits :D
