alexp999
Depends on the car you are fitting it too and the model of tyre. Like most things in life, different manufacturers make good and bad products. If changing the tyres on my car, I'd stick with Goodyear Eagle F1 AS2/3s. If it was a regular Focus and I did many miles, Michelin, normal mileage Continental, low mileage Avon....
Tom-B64
I'm voting Continental as that's what my car came from the factory with and it's all I'll ever put on. Coincidentally I ordered a new one this afternoon as my front O/S is like a racing slick...
GaryPL
No Firestone, Uniroyal, Riken or Kleber?
BOF
Not going to choose a Tyre Brand. Just seems like a stupid thing to do when most manufacturers make good tyres and bad tyres (for my requirements and they would change depending on the tyre size/car combination).
Ryan_Tango
I used continentals on my Fiesta but the tyres for my Focus are awful so I use Goodyear.
JW1982
My 17 Inch wheels that I bought new in 2011 came with 205-50-17 Continental SportContact 2 tyres. I used these wheels on a Focus MK2 and a Focus MK3. In my opinion these are really nice tyres on both cars. I only used these wheels during Summer season from approximately April till October. Next Summer season I am going to install 18 Inch wheels. I already ordered a new set of 18 Inch rims. However I have not decided yet which tyres I am going to use. Based on specifications, test results and reviews the Vredestein Ultrac Satin tyre drew my attention but the lack of a decent rim protector is a large disadvantage for me. Currently I am leaning towards the Continental SportContact 5 tyres. Fortunately I still have a few Months to decide.
Philf1
Conti sport 5 every time on a fiesta I have Michelin super sports on the RS which seem pretty good but they're French so might go contis again
BOF
A bit more detail: Take Goodyear, for example. I have used used 'Efficient Grips' and found them a bit poor. They are defntely less grippy than the top sport tyres (the same manufacturer's Eagle F1 Assy 3 for example) they are actually more expensive than the cheapest you can find the F1 assy 3s f you shop around and they feel a bt vague and poorly defined. Does that make Goodyear a poor tyre manufacturer? No not really; it just makes the EGs a poor choice on a Mondy in my tyre size (and its an older design and if they replaced it today it would surely be a better tyre and I might have a different opinion if they were priced against mid-range tyres or available in XL load rating or I had a different tyre size or they were better on wear life). Currently I am leaning towards the Continental SportContact 5 tyres. So the recently superseded Cont SC5? They'll probably still be around but Cont themselves would suggest that PC6s (not the earlier PC tyres though) are a better tyre and in most ways they would appear to be right. Haven't seen a competitive review on the Ultrac Satins yet so if there is something on-line I'd like to know. They have the potential to be a very decent mid-range choice. And those Avons? Probably the latest are another good mid-range choice and I could see some people feeling that they were their favourite tyres but they probably aren't going to displace the Plot SS4 or the PC6 (or even the 5P if available in your size) as the sportiest tyre. (And I could throw in Pirelli - some of their recent tyres seem pretty decent but their older designs can be a bit ropey) Of course, it all depends on what you want. JW1982
Based on customer reviews and tyre tests I decided to buy a set of Dunlop Sport Maxx RT2 tyres. These tyres end up pretty high in all tests that I found. . I bought the tyres online from a French company which has warehouses across Europe. The price difference between online tyre suppliers and local tyre suppliers was quite large. I saved over €70,- by buying the tyres online. The tyres arrived within 2 days and and are produced only 5 weeks ago. Yesterday I had them mounted onto my new 18 Inch rims and balanced by my local tyre supplier who is a real specialist. I decided to let him place all tyre weights behind the spokes of the wheels. This was not easy because of the relative small spokes of the wheels. It took some extra time but he managed to place all tyre weights invisibly behind the spokes. Not cheap but in my opinion definetely worth the extra money. Lenny
AVON ZV7 As used and recommended by the Police force for optimum grip at high speed 👌 on my fourth and final set now.
tarbyonline
In 195/50 15 my absolute favourite was the Michelin Pilot Exalto PE2, but apparently they've been discontinued. After that it would be the Goodyear Efficient Grip performance. HOWEVER, in 195/55 15 I prefer the Continental Premium Contact to the Goodyears (opposite to 195/50 15). So in short, it depends on the specific size. Ive always found Conti consistent though with goodyear rather hit and miss depending on the size and compound. I wonder what my newFiesta will come with this time, last time I got Conti's and a friend who got theirs a few weeks later got Goodyears! Worst tyre brand I have tried was Mohawk. A brand new set came on my Fiat when bought second hand and lasted a couple of weeks before being replaced with much better Hankook's as the almost done conti's from the rear axle gripped better than the Mohawks! Luke4efc
Uniroyal rainsport 3 on my Fiesta! They're a soft tyre, so don't last as long as others but is a reasonable price (£70 a corner fitted) and is excellent in the rain. Quite a few people I know like these
furry vandal
I worked in tyres and engines most of my life and nearly all premium brand tyres Conti Dunlop Pirelli Michelin are decent in the dry. It is the wet when you start thinking about tyre grip under normal road driving and for this reason I fit Uniroyal Rainsport 3 as in the dry there good in the wet there phenomenally good. Yes they use a tad more fuel but it is a price I am willing to pay vs very safe in the wet. I used to have Michelin good in the dry but most Michelins now regardless of what it says on the label A marked or what ever are dreadful in the wet I found the understeer was awful and also the Michelin sports tyres don't have a very good mileage in them. I have fitted a set of ST wheels to my Mondeo and they came with Dunlop Sport Max Gt on so I used them and to be honest they are very good in all conditions I have tried them in. 225/40/18 size and a very comfy ride too. black_cat47
Unquestionably and without a doubt: https://www.asdatyres.co.uk/bridgestone/potenza-re050a/205-40-17-84-w-xl-potenza-re050a every time. OEM for my car and some of the most reliable tyres I've driven on. I'm quite surprised Bridgestone didn't get more votes if I'm honest. Philf1
I fitted Michelin PS4 all round on the RS a couple of months bay. Feel better than the PSS fitted as standard and slightly cheaper which was a bonus. Used kwik fit home fitting service who were excellent
TimST2
I'm currently running the standard Bridgestone Potenzas on my ST, but will consider Michelin Pilot Sports next as I've heard they are excellent.
Frembrit
The Bridgestone Pontenza RE050's were horrible on my car (19") as OEM tyres. Noisy and got noisier as they worn down, not that great on grip and then worse in the wet, but good direction change as they had hard sidewalls. Replaced those with Michelin Pilot Supersports and they grip better in dry and wet though direction change wasn't as good as Bridgestone's due to a softer sidewall, still good though. Wore out the fronts in 10K miles 😀, but it was fun. Replaced those with Pilot sport 4S now, again great in dry and wet, though I feel that they move a bit more than the PSS when tight cornering at speed, doesn't lose grip, just feels theres more lateral movement (sidewalls?)...probably becasue I have a heavy car. Got 182 winter tyres on now and things are getting soft now, but that means a more comfortable ride generally.

I've noticed that the Potenzas are noisy but assumed it was because they are low profile rather than anything brand-specific. Another good reason to try Pilot Sports. STJAY
When on the Seat Cupra forum a lot of the guys used the Michelin Pilot Sports and they had nothing but good reports about them. Myself, I haven't used them now. On the Fiesta at the minute, I have the standard Bridgestone Potenza fitted, which can be lax in the wet conditions, I have the Potenzas fitted to my Leon I used to own, 205/55/16, and they were the same, unreal in the dry, but when it got wet you stayed away from the accelerator. I also used Michelin and Contis on the Leon and found that the Contis were better in both conditions. On the Ibiza FR I had, the tyres were 215/45/16 Dunlop Sport Maxx they were very good to be honest. Then I bought the Rotas for it, on the rear I had Karmoron, a subsidiary of Michelin, and the fronts were Yokohama. I also had Pirelli P Zeros on the front right before I sold the car and removed the Rotas, they were something else for grip, they didn't give up, just pretty costly being the downside. The rears were fantastic, never felt like it got light or that I was going to lose the back end on my country roads, however same story with the fronts, in the dry excellent and in the wet, not so great. I think that's the sort of trend with the big branded tyres, the compound is all set up for nice dry days, so you have endless grip but when the weather turns they strike out. Not sure what I will be going for next, after the Potenzas need changed.
Zico
I've only had my MPS4's fitted for a couple of weeks now and I haven't driven that many miles with it being the holidays. In my opinion, the PS4's are definitely good in the current damp and cold road conditions that I have driven in to date (in car temp's reported between 0 to 3 deg the other week and more recently 4 to 7 deg today). I did notice a small bit of slip after putting my foot down on a 100m two lane c/way before it merges further up. I've had worse slip in dry and warmer road conditions with my previous Hankook Ventus V12 Evo 2 K120 which had only done ~3000 before I swapped them out.
