Did this show up as an error code?

I’m not sure, the garage didn’t say what code popped up.

I would hazard a guess and say yes but it’s jusg a guess and not really helpful I’m afraid

The message is nothing to worry about at all.
It's only a service reminder abd can be reset totally safely.
Obviously the Seat garage didn't know/notice/care that the service light wasn't reset.
I had it on my 2015 Focus ST after my first Dealership service, reset it myself with zero dramas.

How did you reset it...my 2015 plate diesel st has been displaying said light and losing power..I have booked it in for an oil change, will the light go off after this is completed and reset? Jane

Hi,

I bought a 2nd hand 15 plate Focus ST on Tuesday, I just got this engine service message after a short run the the shops. Initially the car wouldn't start (about 5 seconds) then fired up and drove just fine. Dealership did a service on Tuesday, could it be related to that?

Mine does this infrequently, and I'm almost certain it's my fuel pump and filter, though mine was misfueled by the dealer.. However, any message that pops up will have a code associated.. If you have a ready hook it up right away.

Mine usually stick around but I have had a couple that have gone after it fires up again..

I have a 2013 focus and had engine service now come on turned out I needed new MAF sensor which I have replaced but still need to clear the service now message as I’ve got an MOT due any help would be much appreciated

Does anyone know how to reset service engine now on 2013focus thanks

'Service now' should not be confused with 'service due'.
'Service due' can be reset as it is merely a timed reminder that the service interval has been reached.
'Service now' is a warning that something is wrong and the system has detected a fault, this needs checking by a garage and only then can the fault codes be read and cleared once the fault has been rectified.
Do not ignore that message, it is important.

Code reader is needed then.
Any garage should be able to do this for a small fee or any mates with an ELM dongle.

Had the same problem myself....comes on every so often with "Engine Service Now" then loses about 25% power....Took it in to a Ford dealership to get serviced. They checked it over but 10 miles after the service it came back on again... Have a feeling it's the fuel filter needing to be changed but they want to do a full diagnostic first....people on here asking about resetting it? There is no point resetting it as you are just ignoring a problem that will get worse.... If it's the oil change reset then that's simple ....Turn on key just so lights on but not ignition and put your feet down on the brake and accelerator until it resets.... This is just a reminder....The Engine Service Now is not a reminder.

My 2015 1.5 tdci 120HP did this a few months into owning her in 2016, cleared on 2nd startup attempt. Did it after Christmas last year but wouldn't start. Had the AA out and turned out to be a blown fuel sender fuse. Replaced fuse. All good, until Saturday, chAnged fuse again but blew, and has blown another 3 with each attempt to start the car. So I will now have to be towed to the garage to get fully sorted. So basically it's probably always had a dormant fault and has now fully failed. Extended warranty ran out last summer

Update

Reluctantly recovered the car via the AA to local Ford Main Dealer (AA technician tried a 30A fuse instead of fitted 20A to test the draw on the fuel pump - car started but then cut out).

Ford tested the fuel pump/sender unit in the fuel tank and said it wasn't that.  So to cut a long story short they took out the back seat and front seats to chase the wiring from the fuel tank all the way through the car as it was shorting somewhere.  They allowed for 2 hours labour (checked with me first) and traced the fault to a worn wire that had been rubbing inside the engine way up against the fuel filter housing.  Repaired & re secured for less than £250.  Happy with that considering their job and part quote for the fuel sender pump was approx £411.  Luckily it wasn't the HP pump (quote for this was £944).

So in summary for anyone else experiencing the same issue, don't assume it's the pump unit - full diagnostic is recommended unless you know for certain the pump is faulty.
