seatbelt light keeps flashing

Hi,

I've taken the standard seats out of my escort 1.8 55d van and fitted some escort cabby recaro style seats. Only prob's are that the seatbelt fasteners were attached to the old seats so I've gotta fit seatbelt fittings into the floorpan now so that I can wear the seatbelt lol, well, thats not too hard but my problem is that the little amber light on the dash keeps flashing to warn me that I am not wearing the seatbelts!!

I believe this is an MOT failure, so how do I go about making it stop flashing? I wont have to take the dash apart and remove the lightbulb will I?

The wiring that used to go to both seats seatbelt sensors are still there, I thought maybe there was a way of tricking the system by doing something with them???

Cheers

hi mate, the old seatbelt clips you removed would have a switch inside them, so wen you push click your seatbelt it would engage the switch, causing the 2 wires to short, so in your case it should be ok to put a piece of wire between the 2 connectors, this will let the car know that you have clicked your seatbelt in. can' gaurentee this tho, cheers mick
