Artist
I have a 2012 Focus Titanium Estate 1.0l ecoboost. I am have a problem with the keyless locking system. The key fobs work perfectly for unlocking and locking the car. I can unlock the car by touching any door handle. When I touch the driver's door pad to lock the car nothing happens. When I touch the passenger's door pad it single locks the doors, but a second touch within the time limit doesn't double lock the doors. Can anyone offer advice? alexp999
Are you making sure to not put your hand around the handle when you touch the button?
Artist
Hi alex999, Yes, I only touch the button. I have had the car since new (2012) and fault has only occurred in the last 2 weeks. I am trying to find out where the Central Locking Control Unit is in my car as I have read that static can build up in this unit, but if unplugged for an hour then this cures some problems within the central locking system. Worth a try I thought. I think it is a green unit under the trim in the passenger foot well. There is a blue cover over this unit which releases the plug. There is also a square grey plug/socket along side it, which I believe should be unplugged as well.
alexp999
You could always try disconnecting the battery for a bit.
Artist
I think I would need to get a gadget that stores the car's computer settings/codes before I do this, but thanks for your suggestions, much appreciated.
alexp999
No radio code to worry about. Shouldn't loose any radio settings, clock just might need resetting if you don't have GPS.
Artist
As the remote fob works fine I will try disconnecting the battery when I know I am not going to need the car for a day or 2. I have charged the car's battery in case it was low and I have changed the battery in my fob. No joy with either. Will keep you posted. Thanks for all your help.
