TAJI
Hello Everyone! I am from India and I have a Ford Fusion 1.6 petrol Duratec 2006 model.I have the following queries:- 1) What is the difference between Zetec and Duratec? 2)My car is over revving and not gaining speed as quickly as it should. Also pick up is poor. Can a loose air inlet hose cause the engine to overrev? 3)My car dealership has fitted a Ford Ikon Ignition Coil as original Ford Fusion Ignition Coils are not available anymore.Would it work properly? Stoney871
Duratec refers to the engine type whereas Zetec is the build level.Concerning the engine performance, it could be a worn clutch plate.Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk

So a Duratec engine can be Zetec build level?.And can a clutch plate wear out at only 43000 kms?

Jethro_Tull
Quickest I've replaced a clutch was at 9,000 miles on a Nissan Almeda that had been thrashed senseless. The Fusion has a Duratec engine, and a Zetec trim level. The confusion arises due to the engines prior to Duratec being called Zetec too, so you could have a Ford with a Zetec engine and any trim level, including Zetec. This was confusing, so with the revised engines shared with Mazda the name was changed from Zetec to Duratec, and the Zetec name was reserved solely as a trim level
Graham, G4FUJ
No wonder I get confused. My '93 Morgan 4/4 is an early "Zetec" engined 1.8. :) Cheers, Graham
