hi all my sister got her first car a couple months ago, about two weeks ago she ran out of fuel on the side of the road she told me yesterday that the car since then does not pull like it used to before the incident, any mechanics know what this could be, i thought it would be air had been pulled through the system. dont worry iv already told her how stupid she was hahaha

Most likely the fuel filter has been clogged when it sucked up the dregs from the bottom of the tank.  Try changing that and see if it makes a difference.  Worst case scenario it could be the fuel pump itself has been damaged, as they are not designed to be ran out of fuel seeing as the fuel itself cools the pump, so it can overheat if ran dry.

looking on a Peugeot forum there is no fuel filter as such so may be the fuel pump.

Ah right, must be built into the pump then.  In which case, she's probably looking at a new pump regardless.

In the broader sense, don't the those two words - French and reliability - in the same sentence, seem to raise questions?

Me too!!  I love my 405, but modern Peugeots are just pieces of plastic with dodgy electrics.
