Replacing core plugs

Hi

My sons has a 2003 Ford Fiesta 1.4 Zetec, which has the common problem of water around the spark plugs.

I assumes this is due to defective core plugs.

Could anyone advise if this is a DIY job? I have seen prevcious posts on the size of them etc, but my concern is if they have rusted/corroded in. If this is the case presumably I will need to remove the head & get the plugs drilled out by an engineering shop.

Any advice would be appreciated.
