Dash cam hard wire help

I got a hardvwiring kit for my dash cam, coz I have tried so many cigar lighter USB charger / power sockets and they all make the radio hiss and crackle.

the kit I have requires me to take a fuse out, insert this "piggy-back" fuse, then insert the removed fuse into the piggy back fuse. The problem is, I know nothing about car electrics, so not sure which fuse I should use for this, and in which fuse location (glove compartment or engine). My only request is that the dash cam should only come on when the ignition is on.

can any kind person guide me?

I don't get the point of these hardwire kits tbh. They're just glorified cigarette lighter sockets that include a piggyback fuse. I used the wipers to piggyback off, you will have to remove the glove box to get to it. It is switched power, so will only work with the ignition on.

I used the rear wiper fuse as it's the least important for driving safely. The piggy back will probably come with a fuse. If it then 10Amp is more than adequate for the cam. Otherwise you've described it perfectly. I like this setup as there are no wires dangling around the car.

Make sure you put the original fuse you have removed into the correct slot. Put the original fuse into the bottom slot, closest to the pins. The new fuse goes into the top slot to create the new circuit. If you are using an empty socket in the fuse panel then it is good practice to put a fuse in the bottom slot for safety, most taps will not work if the bottom socket is empty.
