paramaniac
Here are some codes that I think you only find on the instrument cluster: * 115A (P115A) Low Fuel Level - Forced Limited Power * 115B (P115B) Low Fuel Level - Forced Engine Shutdown * 9202 (B1202) Fuel pump and sender unit/fuel level sensor open circuit * 9204 (B1204) Fuel pump and sender unit/fuel level sensor short to ground * 9317 (B1317) battery voltage high (greater than 16V) * 9318 (B1318) battery voltage low (less than 10V) * 9342 (B1342) PCM is defective * 9342 (B1342) Odometer RESET button sticking * 9342 (B1342) Trip computer SET button sticking * 9342 (B1342) NVM memory failure * A286 (B2286) MODE switch sticking * 9359 (B1359) Ignition run/accessory circuit failure * A477 (B2477) Module configuration failure * D262 (U1262) Communication bus fault (missing CAN messages) * E196 (U2196) Invalid data for engine RPM (Invalid CAN message) * E197 (U2197) Invalid data for vehicle speed (Invalid CAN message) * E198 (U2198) Invalid data for fuel pulse (Invalid CAN message) * E199 (U2199) Invalid data for engine coolant temperature (Invalid CAN message) * E200 (U2200) Invalid data for odometer (Invalid CAN message) * E201 (U2201) Invalid data for ambient temperature (Invalid CAN message)
greggp
simply put they arent fault codes if you google any of them it finds nothing What does E197 & E200 mean?? recently my speedo on mk6 fiesta has not been working and odo displaying _ _ _ _ _ _ _ but only happened a few times in the last couple of months. I put car into diagnostic dash mode and E197 & E200 flashed up followed by dtc "none" Have been told could have a problem with speed sensor or wiring but intrigued to know what E197 & E200 actually mean ?? All it says in google is E197 (U2197) Invalid data for vehicle speed (Invalid CAN message) E200 (U2200) Invalid data for odometer (Invalid CAN message)
Stoney871
Duff data from the speed sensor. Either the wiring is damaged or the sensor is junked.
Paul mann
Did the old trick on dash got these dtc readings anyone know what they are please ? E200. E510. D900 9600 ?? Thinking of changing wiring loom thoughts on this would be appreciated ...my thinking is it's an electrical fault causing my problems and cannot keep changing sensors every 2 mins ...maybe it's worn wiring ??? Any help on this matter appreciated and a good garage in north manchester area that do electrics would be welcome!!
Stoney871
Those are not generic DTC codes, they are pretty much cluster data. Any fault codes would come up prefixed with D,F,U,C,B or P. D900 is a non specific can communications interruption, not a real problem at all, it just means that since the last DTC read the battery has been disconnecter or a jumpstart or recharge has occurred. 9600 is a PATS communication error between the car and fob, this is usually caused when the car is still in the factory and a new key is paired with the ECU/Cluster for the first time. E200 (U2200) Invalid data for odometer (Invalid CAN message) E510 (U2510) Missing or invalid security data to PCM Probably all caused in the Factory TBH. Try a code read/clear using a bluetooth code reader and an android phone running the Torque Pro app and have a proper look. Often the dash check throws up junk that means very little. Are you having any specific problems?
Fuzz
Someone please tell me how the dashboard trick for diagnosing the ford works please, whats the procedure.?
Stoney871
Press the trip reset button on the indicator stalk and hold it in while starting the car and release when the dash lights and dials go into test mode. Each subsequent push will cycle the cluster through different readouts.
Brijohng56
Hi Clive, you seem to know what your talking about, here one for you, My focus CC3 Convertible keeps having a little problem, when in open the roof, all is ok I don't get any problems or messages on the dash, when I go to close the roof, on the dash it tells me there is a malfunction with the roof, seek dealer advice, but there is no error codes, I press the roof button to open the roof again, & I get a chime to tell me that all is ok, I repress the roof switch to close the roof & all is ok, do you know if there would be any error codes stored in the system which could be read by fords, hope you may be able to help. Stoney871
It could be an error with a sensor in the roof motor. The only things that tend to throw up codes would be engine sensors and devices connected to safety systems. Is the roof electrical or hydraulic? Does the roof have an anti-obstruction system under the tonneau cover (flap that folds over the folded roof) to stop the roof colliding with anything in the boot? Brijohng56
Hi Clive, the focus convertible has a hard top roof that folds in 2, the roof & rear screen fold over each over & the boot lid raises up to allow the two parts to load into the boot space above a cover which has a sensor fitted to it, if this cover is not closed the sensor tells you on the display screen, I believe the roof is electrical, that's all I can tell you so far, it's raining to day so probably won't be using it again until the sun returns, thanks Brian. tanksta1
Hi, i have an intermittent fault with my 54 plate mondeo 2.0 tdci 130. One day the coil light will flash yellow once the car is started and it will go into limp mode and the next day the coil light won't flash and the car will run perfectly! There seems to be no pattern to this, it's just random. Anyway I took my car to my brother in law who's company he works for has a snap on diagnostics kit, they ran the diagnostics and it came out with this reading. ECM/turbocharger (TC) control solenoid A - circuit malfunction. Then says 'possible causes' wiring? So i Googled this and nothing came up, i looked and the ford fault codes and the nearest code i found was P1692 which is turbo control solenoid circuit malfunction. So again i Googled this fault code and cant find anyone who has had this problem. Is there anyone who could help? Thanks

Botus
14 Plate Focus 1.6 turbo ecoboost (with BT Sat Nav & DAB as std) registered in April, just before the latest facelift FAULT CODE B1D5515-2F Antenna 2 circuit, DAB works but a little wobbly. And I know many Mercs and Vauxhalls keeled over in Feb 2016 when the UK DAB network was upgraded. Do fords need any software updates to cope? robert.james.198
Got a focus titanium in at the moment and there is a CAN problem with the key. The customer has had the key checked and its still having problems unlocking the n/s/f door and the boot... Now he can't get in the boot at all I tried unplugging some sensor's to crate a fault in that sort of area. Any help would be grate thanks robSent from my T5_Lite using Tapatalk

Is that taken from the dashboard display rather than being pulled via a device connected to the ODB2 port? (I'm assuming it's via the dashboard "trick" because it's not formatted like a proper DTC). If it's of the dash just ignore it, it's a "real/valid" DTC code. If you're car is misbehaving you need to have the codes read (assuming there are some present) either by an appropriately equipped garage or by yourself using Forscan software (freeware) and a modified ELM327 cable/dongle, most on here purchase from Tunnelrat. Stoney871
Most dashboard codes refer to things that pop up during build. They're usually minor data due to various modules being installed and run for the first time without supporting sensors etc being connected. You can safely clear them with no adverse effects.Sent from my SM-G965F (S9+)

FatHead1979
8 minutes ago, Finneagle64 said: Got these two codes what do they mean?? dt5t60 and dt02c2 NOTHING if they're taken from the instrument cluster display! The only real DTCs are recovered via the ODB2 port i.e. using Forscan with a modified ELM327 cable or other proprietary methods i.e. Ford's on diagnostic system. FatHead1979
19 hours ago, Richard71 said: What does code e196 mean and does it stop car starting e196 is in the list at the top of this post, it translates into a "U" code which means it's related to communication between electrical modules. It could be anything from a broken sensor (not sending any data), a loose connection at the back of the instrumentation cluster, to an issue with the soldering inside the cluster itself (a fairly common issue on older cars due to manufacturers have to change to lead free solder, which gets brittle with age and can cause intermittent or even permanent issues due to the resulting poor connection(s).
