RN_Robbie
Hi I have a 64 Titanium X Focus which lately has had a few issues. I had it serviced at Ford at the end of September. Then last week it started to lose power (would not go over 50 mph at all )and the Temp gauge started to fluctuate between cold (60) and just below the hot (120). I looked under the bonnet to see if there was anything obvious and found oil absolutely everywhere, all over the bonnet lining, engine cover and other parts. I called in the AA and they gave me a list as long as my arm inducing head gasket as issues. It got carried to a different Ford Dealer to look at and they found that some of the service work hadn't been completed correctly. They replaced the oil filter, oil and oil cooler. Also changing the coolant as well. I picked the car up and drove off. Then within 20 miles the power issues came back (Temp was about 95) and i managed to get it back to the garage very slowly where they will have another look at it. I'm not very good with cars and am trying to understand what the issues could be. i have been lucky so far and the original Ford Dealer has paid for the work. If any one could give me some insight i would be grateful. The Car is a Ford Focus (64) Titanium X Nav Diesel.
isetta
AA told me the head gasket had gone on my Ford Escort. I did not believe this and told them so with my reasoning. They insisted they were right. It was a cracked hydraulic cam follower which did not hold the oil pressure so did not open one of the valves properly. One of the breakdown services told a friend of mine their head gasket had gone. I had a look and told them it was because the radiator fan was not working as it had a blown fuse (which was caused by a wiring problem). wiring sorted, fuse replaced and all OK. I am not saying they are always wrong. But you can not assume they are right.
kingsblue
Who was the original Ford dealer that did the service in September?
briscaF1
I'd be asking for a written statement from the original Ford dealer as to what they did wrong and what they had paid for to put it [not] right.
