Georgio.p
Over the past month the display on my Travepilot EX has been slowly disappearing. By this I mean that I have blank horizontal and vertical lines on the screen. The lines are a pixel width. The display is now just about readable. The blank lines appeared over a couple of weeks. I now can't tell if they are still appearing. The unit is otherwise fully functional. I realise that this may mean a duff screen and an expensive replacement. But I'm trowing this question onto the forum in the hope that there may be a repair or some kind of work round the problem. Cheers guys. FORD 1
I have the same problem on a 2 year old s max, very disappointing. All the Blaupunkt specialists say to go to Ford. Blaupunkt in Germany say the same thing. Can't imagine Ford will be able to repair it so they will probably try to sell me a replacement at circa £1k I guess. Would really appreciate any advice on getting this fixed and also how to remove it? Also got a black line on the odometer display so that needs fixed too, any help with fixing/ removing that would be appreciated too? Thanks

Thanks I think electronics are covered by the full 3 year 60,000 mile warranty. So you should be able to get a new one for free. So long as you haven't gone over the 60,000 miles? Even if its out of warranty Ford may replace as a good will gesture - These sort of things are supposed to last the full life of the car. Georgio.p
I've finally got round to going to my local Ford dealer to ask for any technical help concerning my defective screen. After being passed from salesman to service department to parts department no one could offer any advice. The guy in the parts department couldn't give me any help, not even a price for the unit. From my understanding of things electronic a defective LCD screen is not repairable. It's means a new unit and they go for between £200-£300 secondhand on fleabay. Oh well...I guess I'll have to live with it for now and look at fitting a compatible unit some time. Cheers guys.
