GaryPL
I couldn't see that this had been posted elsewhere but it was topical given the time bomb of the 1.0 EcoBoost and its cooling system - http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/ford/focus/102413/ford-focus-rs-owners-offered-free-repair-for-white-smoke-issue Hope this is of use to some people. dansallis
Haha, oh deary me Ford. I guess they are doing it on an 'opt in' system because of the rarity of the 2.3 EcoBoost Focus RS compared to the 1.0 EcoBoost (which they are still refusing to fix cars under warranty). The thing I linked to is not being done as a full blown, government department agreed recall. Ford did it just to save face as having their premiere European sports cars exploding would be rather damaging to their reputation. Fiesta and Focus 1.0 Ecoboosts are 10 a penny, so nobody thinks twice when they see one at the side of the road. A 300+BHP RS on the other hand... Will get a lot of looks when it's smoking at the roadside. Especially if it's green!
Philf1
Several RS have had major engine failure due allegedly to Ford fitting the mustang head gasket by mistake this leads to heads warping and coolant entering the cylinder block and then failure. Recall will replace hg pressure test and may lead to a new head if required https://www.tomholroydphotography.co.uk/

zain611
You wouldn't want to buy an expensive sports car and it suddenly goes bang. I'd be furious if that happened to be. I think there was a guy on YouTube which fell into this problem on his RS
biff55
fords hand was forced into a recall to stop the value of their flagship model plummet once the 3 year manufacturers warranty expires who'll want to risk buying a 4-5 year old RS on its original engine with no dealership support if the head gasket decides to eat itself ? no chance , forget that lol. I did read somewhere that the mustang head gasket costs $20 and the RS one is $200, maybe someone thought I know how to save a few quid... Philf1
Yes but the recall is likely costing in excess of £10m world wide https://www.tomholroydphotography.co.uk/
