Help required! Zetec-s

Featured Replies

Ok guys, I have a 1.6TDCi fiesta Zetec-s (diesel).... I am wanting to do the following:

Air filter - induction kit???

new exhaust ( would like it to have a growl/pur ) basically sound sporty?

external visual modifications or what I'm going for starting with the rear defuses and front splitter, then I will be dropping her 30mm ( I think? )

my questions are does anybody recommend any exhaust systems? Possible with a video I could watch.. any pictures of external mods you have done especially the diffuser and what is best to go with regarding air filter/ induction kit?

Sorry for all the questions as I have been posting a lot

Picture of her so far:

thanks in advance all help is greatly appreciated

Its a diesel.  The only way to make it sound sporty is to fit a petrol engine.

Induction kits on diesels sound like cement mixers, and the exhausts are little better.  Its a nice wee motor, but I'd spend the pennies elsewhere.

I'm not gonna bother with the induction kit but I think I'll still go for a new exhaust system

Could also look at blocking the Egr. May get more mpg out of it. There's a guy on YouTube who has the same car with around 155hp or more and he's changed the exhaust. Your going to get more of a diesel roar when changing the exhaust.

Thanks I'll see if I can find the YouTube video

He wants to make it sound sporty - that sounds like a Massey Ferguson.

I don't think you'll be able to get a sporty noise from these engines. Was just suggesting that YouTube channel to get a sound of these engines with the exhaust changed. They are considerably quiet compared to some of the other diesel engine cars at stock

Bare in mind, blocking the EGR is an instant MOT fail I believe when the new rules come in this year.

The only diesels that sound good are above 3.0L and usually fitted in a big lorry. Suppose a loud exhaust would hide the Peugeot build quality noises.

Lol its not a bad engine. Just make sure the previous owners kept up with the servicing if you ever look at getting a car with this engine as you do not want dirt building up in the oil feed pipe. Its used in other manufacturers apart from Ford, Peugeot and Citroën. Was looking at the 2.0 diesel engine also made by Peugeot Citroën and I couldn't believe the performance. It has the same amount of horsepower and torque as the 1.6 tdci. Don't know why they couldn't increase the performance in it.

I'm more worried about these diesel emission rules in London. I hope it only takes place in central London rather than within the north circular. The diesel scrapage scheme isn't really great either. If you get around £2000 from your car you'll still need a few thousands to get a newer economical car. Really will upset me if I have to sell my car if this takes place in my area 😭
