Headlamp Connector/harness Wire connector clips?

Hi everyone,

Went to change the headlamp bulbs and have noticed that the clip that holds the wire/harness together has snapped? My question is, how to replace and is it going to cause any issues (i.e.) wire coming loose etc?

Many thanks

To be honest, you can tape the plugs together I suppose, or if you can get a replacement plug off a dead car and depending on how clever you are with a soldering iron, I would simply cut off your old plug and join and heatshrink wrap each wire, then elec tape the loom up to a couple of inches .  You could join them with clips but it'd look a mess.  Solder job would be quick and tidy...

If the fittings are as tight as they are on the MK2 Focus I wouldn't worry about them going anywhere, I struggle to get mine apart when I actually WANT them apart!  :wallbash:

Thank you both, I actually just left them as they are since they are quite tight and just monitor them every now and again. Did end up having Ford to check them, they also said don't need to worry and apparently is quite common issue lol.

its a retarded design.... best understood once you have snapped the counter intuitive release clip like most idiots at garages do all day long,

If I remember correctly the red circled bit should be pressed in toward the centre of pin bush housing.... this clip hinges half way down lifting the retention clip out so you can pull it from the connector…. a flat blade screw driver can be inserted (handle on the left pointing toward the word Budding on the signature of the post) into the small gap … then the blade presses in the clip as you lever the bit almost in the very centre of the red circle carefully

on bm and merc these part are readily available for less then 2 quid... called a "pin bush housing" with a bit of thought it disassembles easily and you can be as good as new (you just need a few photos to help with reassembly).... re the focus my sister's was wrecked by a body shop and now other half's was trashed when they fitted PAS pipes... even though I've had the wires off without breaking many times
