Ford fiesta mk6 thermostat

Hi All, was wondering if anyone could help, I have a 2004 ford fiesta finnese 1.25litre petrol. I bought it last year and its been fully serviced and well looked after. But my problem is that after about 5 mins of driving my thermostat shows that the engine is already hot. Just at the normal place in the middle. Any ideas why it's races up so quickly to the middle bar. I feel it should be at least 15 mins of driving before the engine gets hot.

It doesn't have all that much coolant to heat up.

Isn't that the normal amount of time for a petrol engine to warm up? Might be wrong there. With my 1.6 diesel fiesta it takes about 25-30 minutes to warm up when driving on 30mph roads with some traffic but that's expected for a diesel engine. Petrol engines generally warm up faster and it also depends on a few factors: outside temperature, the types of roads you go on (going on a motorway or dual carriage way would take less time to warm up compared to driving on 30mph roads)
