  1. Todays progress: Well its day three of flat out working on the car, Started off with the TV Tuner Wired up a loom for it, I then routed the cable from the passenger fuse board area back along factory loom to the passenger side boot panel where i plan to mount the tuner box. I then had to temporarily cease installation of the tuner as i require a ring crimp terminal to earth a cable aswell as some more insulated female crimps, I didn't fit aerials yet neither as the manual says the tuner will display signal levels to assist mounting in optimum location, So I've gotta get it powered up first, I then got the Ford IsoFix bracket fitted for the little man, Hoovered out the car and put the whole interior back in except for glove box, Not one screw or clip missing, Very surprised at that lol I then routed both 4 Gauge cables from the amps through the firewall, Fitted the 30 and 40amp circuit breakers, bolted to the side of the battery box all ready for final crimp ring terminal to be applied. I've got the crimps, But i don't have a large crimper, I've gotten a loan of one from maintenance workshop in work before to crimp all other connections, I've now got the final four connections ready for crimping, Should have these done on Tuesday morning and that will see the amps fully functioning, Ill pick up crimp ring terminal tomorrow and get back to installing the TV Tuner, I've decided to source a company to install the flip down Monitor as i don't trust myself to line it up correctly, I've got all the cables figured out etc. Just need a company to fit it in there for me, Ill look in to it in coming weeks, Its been a fun three days but im glad to be at the end of it because its quite stressful aswell as enjoyable trying to make everything go the way you want it to and always planning whats to be done next, in a bid to maximise daylight time, Aswell as reserving some inside jobs for times that it begins to lash rain lol Looking forward to getting back to work in order to obtain the crimper :)

  2. Which would trigger the alarm as you have to be in the car to get access to the fuse box. Can't be done from the window and a real fiddle to do. I guess you could put a low blown fuse in the slot that then means you have to fiddle to remove before replacing.

  3. There will be no errors messages, if and when driving the vehicle with fuse 19 removed. With fuse 19 removed, there will be no power to the ODB port. Basically if you were to plug a device into the OBD port (with fuse removed) any given device will not work. Simply because there is no power in the port, as remember the fuse would have been removed. Just think of it like a normal household plug, if you remove the fuse and plug it into a socket - switching it on... it will not work. This is exactly the same principle ;)

  4. thats why air ratchets should never be used to tighten wheel nuts, but how many fast fit cnt's have you seen do this and how many do you see use a torque wrench afterwards.

  5. I think the thing to consider here is that to gain access to the car they need to connect to the OBD and trigger the door release. If the OBD is dead then they won't be able to get in to access the fusebox, let alone look for the one missing fuse amongst a half dozen empty slots that usually occur.

  9. 1. People may peer in, to see how the interior looks, but it is all pretty respectful as you are all there to appreciate the cars. 2. Only someone you have been chatting to may ask (like a fellow club member), I doubt a random stranger will come up and ask unless you have done something particularly intriguing with the interior or have a real icon of a car. 3. It shouldn't be necessary as there are always lots of people about. I'm pretty sure I remember seeing some cars with them fitted. It is only natural to want to protect your pride and joy. 4. The event organisers reserve the right to not let you out if there are too many people on the exit routes and it would be dangerous. Some people tend to start heading off after lunch I usually stay till about 2 or 3pm depending on how it is going. 5. Shouldn't need to redo a wax, but most will bring cloths and basic cleaning products to wipe off any dirt that has been picked up. A waterless wash sounds ideal. 6. All sorts, anything you could think of to do with cars. Like a halfords and breakers yard open air shopping centre, lol. Then tuners, Adrian flux, loads of different food stalls and of course, ford will be there.

  10. Blame Euro regulations for that one. The directive states that the port must be within reach of the driver's seat. Stupid imho.

  11. Been at the car today from 9am to 19:00 Had to drive with only drivers seat installed to local DIY store 😀 Bit faster with no interior or door cards fitted, had to purchase some more bolts as previously mentioned, Got home and fitted front speakers completly. I failed to take many pictures, Fitted front speakers and wired in the feeds from amp to speakers aswell as the front audio to boot connector feed. Removed the iso adaptor loom and hard wired all cables to reduce bulk at the rear of the headunit, Would have been tight if not impossible to fit the headunit back in along with the additional 7 RCA plugs. Took some time and Haynes manual Front speakers now fully installed and door cards fitted, Tomorrow I've gotta fit the isofix bracket in back seat, Refit all panels, Route power feeds through firewall to battery, Fit PlayStation socket extensions, Begin wiring Xtrons HD DVB Tuner. There was a lot of time spent phishing RCA's in to headunit cage today guys, Had to go in one at a time and took forever, Was like seeing your child being born, The euphoric feeling when the RCA cable finely peeps through where you want it😮 😂 Headunit now refitted and functioning 100% Currenly powering front speakers from headunit via the new plug&socket system in the boot compartment until the amp power is complete. More progress tomorrow thanks for reading.

  12. I decided to put the summer tyres back on the ST yesterday but couldn't remove one of the wheels (rear drivers side). Here's some background as to why... I used a mobile wheel and tyre fitter last November who came out and balanced the wheels having put the winter tyres onto the spare rims. I had to purchase 4 wheel nuts from Ford because the locking nuts would not fit with the spare rims. After a few weeks though, I couldn't settle because there was a definite vibration through the wheel. I then took it to a local MOT, repair and tyre centre that I have used before. They discovered that the back passenger side wheel was somewhat buckled. He further balanced the wheel to get rid of the vibration as it was only slight. Their equipment is more sophisticated than the mobile fitter hence they found the problem. Anyway, yesterday I decided to remove the winter tyres and rims myself. They were on too tight for the wrench to even budge. My neighbour gave me a spare wrench from his old Mondeo as I only have the repair kit but they were on so tight that it knackered the wrench. Off to the shops I went and purchased a heavy duty breaker bar and 19mm socket for £20. This made light work of the job and we sailed through the task... Then we came to the wheel in question. The socket would not fit over the nuts which we could not understand. Then we discovered that one of the nuts had been tightened by the garage to such an extent that it was worn down and badly deformed. It was late afternoon now so I needed a rapid outcome. I phoned the mobile fitter I used last year and he came out at 7:30pm and could not believe it. He had to use his skills and hammer a 19mm socket onto the nut in order to remove it and said I was lucky it came off. He only charged £10 so great service by him and he correctly tightened all the wheels for me. I paid £x (need to check my statement) for the work at the garage last year, £20 for the breaker bar and socket and £10 for the mobile tyre guy. I am seriously considering emailing or writing to the garage about this even though the amount is rather trivial. Anyone else come across this with garages?

  13. So After 8 years of driving Fiesta's the time has come to move up, just ordered a Volvo XC60. The Volvo Forums are no where near as active as this one and I wanted to take this chance to thank everyone who over the years has been really very helpful, I will always love Ford as my first car, fine the dealer service is a shambles but I do not expect much more from Volvo to be honest. The only last thing now is to try and sell my fiesta, my local dealer offered less than Volvo which I though was rubbish I am considering we buy any car or similar, I would like to sell privately but cannot be doing with the hassle of it to be honest.

  15. Of course! The deadlocks! Not only will they have to set off the alarm to get to the fusebox, they will also have to climb through a smashed window cos they would have to take a while to defeat the deadlocks. By the time they have faffed with all that, the cops could be there.

  16. No fuse. No power to OBD port ;)

  17. All you need to do, is open the glove box, push the sides inwards and the compartment will drop down. Which enables you to access the fuse board, easy peasy... lemon squeezy! :D

  19. Another vote for induction noise. I picked up a low mileage second hand 14 plate Mountuned ST last week. Around 1500-2000 revs I get that weird sound like these videos. It's like one of those corrugated tubes you had as a kid... You whirl around in the air above your head and it makes a strange-almost-whistling sound. Sent from my iPad using Ford OC

  20. This is very concerning. I didn't realise the keyless system was so vulnerable! I can't afford the VIPER alarm system upgrade but what about disklok? If some crims turned up and defeated the security in a matter of seconds, surely they will come unstuck when faced with this: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Cover-Medium-Silver-Security-Disklok/dp/B00JVS52J6/ref=sr_1_4?s=automotive&ie=UTF8&qid=1427655881&sr=1-4&keywords=disklok

  22. I've tried Ford's own touch up kit with exact colour match and I bought my own paint brushes that were very fine. It still doesn't look great at all. There's a guy around my way who fixes such problems easily and much cheaper than a bodyshop. I have used his services many times and its worth paying for. Check out the yellow pages etc. for mobile paint repair guys in your area and get some quotes together.

  23. Although, perfectly fine if it has a setting to limit forward torque (higher spec ones do). There are also special torque limiting attachments too. I never use a torque wrench but I always do the final tightening with a breaker bar.

  24. I agree with you, I stated on my first dashcam post that they were 'What If' moments that could have gone bad, I don't think anyone is going to have a big collection of 'blood & guts' moments, and they won't last long on here. My theory was, if people see enough 'close moments' that they would think about getting a dashcam too. I've noticed that since having the ability to record minor moments that I take more notice of them, because I can watch them back. I've posted alot more videos than I thought I would, and they are mainly very minor in reality. If I was a Police Officer in a unmarked car, I'm sure I 'could have' handed out a few fines though lol.

  25. These certainly aren't non events. Questionable driving at the very least and I certainly don't worry about it, just felt like posting a compilation video and testing out the new software in the process. The exiting Corsa was bailing out late due to traffic starting to build up further on which wasn't the safest of decisions. The white was not broken down, he was chatting and laughing with the local yobs on the bike and his engine was running (I could hear it when I went past). The Corsa on the roundabout went left from the right hand lane with no sign of indicating and was pretty much level pegging with the MPV all the way around rather than trying to slot into the gap behind. The Ford Focus tailgated the MPV big time and when I looked in the mirror he was braking all the time and edging out. Finally, the Audi is summed up well by Mark and could have clipped my front end if I was further on and turning right. I acknowledged before even uploading that these were minor issues in the big scheme of things but certainly not non events. In a typical sods law way though, I have not seen anything that anyone would class as very bad since I had the camera fitted. Before that I would see something many times, be it red light runners or maniac white van man etc. I think the closest call I've recorded was the Vectra that pulled out on the lorry. The lorry driver was well p**sed off lol

  29. Mate you are a great help and as i said i'm a bit thick on a few stuff like this lol. It does use data ( see thick) as i did think it should but so little in a day it's like 10p or so. All i wanted it for is logging my travel and seeing where my car was,the lines being out aint a major thing as long i know a rough guide of from and where to and the place it ends up.

  30. Seems you know a bit, thanks. The set place of my car (where it's parked ) aint that bad at all it's only the line say from A to B. So nothing to do with the time it up dates then. Also it has a sim card PAYG on 2G and it never uses any data from it,i have gone for GPS only setting but some say it should. I have looked online on my sim card account and all it charges is 15p text if i send and reply back to me. There online tracker software is free lifetime membership.

  35. Just picked up my 2011 1.4 Titainium after 2.1/2 years owning a 2005 Seat Ibiza 1.9 TDI remapped and boy did that car shift. I have officially left the boy racer club and gone back to Fords of which I have quite a few over the years. I left kicking and shouting mind but it was time to say goodbye to my Seat and say hello to my Ford Fiesta 1.4 Titanium. However I am both happy and sad. The Ibiza 1.9 TDI was remapped and boy could it shift it was a pocket rocket. The Fiesta is in a different league comfort and gizmos wise however and a lot more refined. So here I am and looking forward to being part of the Fiesta community. :)

Not one sarcastic comment, joke or funny of any kind posted since the debacle, i can see the tumbleweed blowing across the SMOC forum now. Seems they have merchandise for sale ( and discounts) which is something but still "no pants" in the product range 8-) Maybe time to get the ball rolling here?
