  2. Unfortunately the key issue with that is to get a half decent car you have to have a decent amount of money and in these trying times with governments bending everyone over, its not always feasible for someone to do without a car for a period of months or years to save up for a decent motor. A lot of it comes down to luck.

  3. So the AR9100 is in the car, she's been run in for about 60 miles. My completely subjective opinion is that it is noticeably quieter, engine noise at cold and warm is much lower, at low speed low rpm it still sounds a bit like a bag of spanners but I've come to expect that from a diesel, in saying that, its also a lot less than before, especially when driving at speed, you notice the road noise and wind much more. The strange noise is still there as far as I can tell, since its a bit quieter but I think I can notice some other very quiet noises too which may need further attention. Since this is completely useless for anyone else to compare with I decided to try and record it via db levels on a app on my phone. So here goes, figures before the treatment Cold idle inside the car 67.5 Cold idle bonnet open 80.8 Warm idle inside the car 66.7 Warm idle bonnet open 80.1 After putting 135ml of that stuff in and running car for a 60 mile trip Cold idle inside the car 66.4 Cold idle bonnet open 79 Warm idle inside the car 63.5 Warm idle bonnet open 76 I still need to check the cold idle after treatment, will check it tomorrow morning. So based on that I'm going to leave it a while, ill do another oil change in about 4k, I'm going to do some flushing with clean oil (no oil flush tho) just a couple of replacement oil changes until the oil runs out the bottom clean, after that ill put some more ar9100 in it and see how it goes but so far, its a good improvement.

  4. Undo the few tork screws and pull down the plastic sill panel it also has some little white clips attached to the plastic these come out as part of the plastic sill. Surprising amount of dirt gathers inside these sills, this is from one side: Now removed, I recommend cleaning the area with a bucket of solution to remove all dirt rather than a hose because you don't want to force water through the holes in to the sill cavity, Keep the Torx screws for fitting the skirts and discard the plastic sills. Ready for skirts I recommend fitting a set of custom mud flaps to protect the skirts from stone chips, I can guide you on creating these if required,

  5. On my ford focus mk2. Iv taken my cheap 60mm front and 40mm rear springs off. And replaced with 20 front 25 rear eibach springs. And also replaced all my shocks. Now front looks lower the 20 it's just a bit higher then when I had my 60 on. And the rear has stayed the same as when I had 40 on. My front is so low u can fit a finger between when and arch on 20mm And rear I can fit 3 fingers on 25mm. So annoying. Why is this. Is it because heavy at front? Tdci. But would of thought as rear is 5 more mm may of come out around same. Basically dosn't look lowered at rear. Anyone care to make sence of it for me Cheers

  7. I had a small puncture on a brand new tyre a month or so back. Luckily it was repairable as the tyre was only a few months old. It was the front left tyre that was repaired. Since then if I go into a right hand bend that has a little camber to get the nose to dip in then the ESP (I think) pulses the brakes and makes give a real halting sensation. The orange light comes on as it happens and blinks quickly afterwards. Never had it happen at all and it's certainty not in quick driving conditions, you have to be going fairly gently. Could the puncture repair be upsetting the balance and subsequently the ABS sensor and causing this? I'll probably rotate the tyre off to the back just to see but it'd be good to know if any of you have experienced this before.

  8. Hi all. Have been driving my 52 Plate Focus for a while and have rarely used the horn. It does work though. Having recently moved to Hastings, East Sussex, I find myself often on country roads and so, as you should, use my horn to warn any oncomers as I approach narrow and sharp bends. The horn is so feeble I have trouble believing anyone could hear it over their radio. Don't get me wrong, the car has a fresh MOT and so the noise is legal, but I remember previous cars being far more impressive. I am I.T. and D.I.Y. competent and am willing to spend £10 to £20 on a beefier, similar mount and style replacement. It has to be more impressive though and, being on a P/T worker's budget, I can't afford to through the money away on a unit no better than I have. Any pointers towards decent replacements? Honestly, the Missus laughs every time I use it!

  9. That is true Jeebs, but hopefully in the OPs case the Volvo may prove to be a good stop-gap, but a hundred quid car that needs £500+ spending on it to get it to scrape an MOT vs a £600 car which has MOT and is more likely to pass another, I know which I would go for. With the exception of two Escorts that have been posted on FOC recently. They look worthy of a punt and are at scrap money, but not often does decent motors come in at scrap money. Most are that price because they are crap. Sent via the 'Clacks' GNU STP

  10. Many horns can be adjusted by !Removed! the little nut in the centre in or out, try that first. They are prone to corrosion on the Focus though

  11. 100% doable. I added a third key to my last car (flip key to supplement the original fixed blade ones). It wasn't an original key but work flawlessly for 3 years until I traded up to my ST. Keyless fob is easy anyway, the Locksmith places it on the PATS receiver panel in the car (under armrest on mine) and plugs an IDS panel into the OBD port to code the key to the car. It should take no more than 2 minutes tops to do.

  15. Thank you all! Replacement double has been ordered and I intent to mount away from the usual mounting point(s) as these are low enough to suffer road water damage. I don't know if my mk2 1.6LX has one, or two horns but the splitting shouldn't be too hard. ANYTHING is better than the asthmatic-mouse-cough I've got now. Thanks again!

  16. My 14 plate Race Red Zetec 100bhp with ~8950 miles (plus DAB radio + City Pack + Premium Protect servicing for years 2 and 3 left on it) was last advertised at £10,495 at the Cambridge dealership before it disappeared off the listing.

  19. The 1 litre has a surprisingly good pull for its size, my mum's managed zigzag hill near Shaftesbury no problem. I would say it is faster in terms of performance than the 1.6 tdci, although probably hasn't got quite the same amount of physical pulling power, if you wanted to tow for example. Having said that, my mum moved from a 1.6 hdi (same engine Ford use), 206, to the 1.0 125 ecoboost Focus, and loves it, much better to drive. Have you test driven one?

  20. Which type of horn does the car originally have? The lower spec versions of the focus MK1/MK1.5 did have a single horn. The higher spec versions did have a double horn. My experience is that the double horn is much louder than the single horn. It is also possible that your car has the double horn and 1 of them is broken. In that case the horn has lost half of its original power.

  24. Hi, thanks for your reply, will get those points checked, unfortunately, do not have any service history with the car, so, maybe best plan is to have it serviced and go from there.

  25. +1 on the rear tints, gotta be careful though as that looks sorted as it is, going much further will ruin it in my opinion Sent via the 'Clacks' GNU STP

  27. PF-GF43 is not a Ford part number. As an example a Ford part number should look like this: 8M5T-19c112-AS (in this case the part number belongs to a Bluetooth/Voicecontrol module).

  35. As arthur points out its a footwell bung where its leaking, but think we all wrong on this one. Lol I didnt pay to much atention to photos to be honest, but now lookig again, that photo shows the o/s/r of underside as you can see the fuel pipes in photo and they run o/s. So either air con drain pipe detatched inside and water running to rear and out poor fitting bung or could even be pipe off rear washers may be depending on routing of pipe( dont know routing of washer pipe)

  36. remove the plastic and just bond them on with tigerseal/very strong double sided tape

  37. That's not the aircon drain that's the plug in the pass footwell going by the wet mark aircon drains on the drivers side not pass side
