  2. Having an obscure surname isn't the worst thing in the world... Try sharing your name with a rather popular tennis player. Having a Scottish accent and working in a call centre, you wouldn't believe the amount of times I get "are you Andy's brother then?"...

  4. It's always a sad loss when loving pets have to be put to sleep Ghana. However, we at least have the power to prevent further suffering by taking the action you have. Bunty is now at rest and free of pain. I know from personal experience how hard that is to do, but it is the right thing to do. This year I have had do make the call twice on 2 of our cats, If only we could be as compassionate with our own species. R.I.P Bunty

  7. Hey! Was just wondering if any of you were heading to Santa Pod for FordFest this year? It'll be the first time I've ever been to a drag strip and ill be coming down with my friend in his RS :) It'd be nice to see some of your cars if Ford Owners Club has got a club stand and any of you are displaying :)

  8. Hey, I'd like to get this going again, looks like fun and it hasn't been touched since January! Don't know if this counts cause it was a bit ago now... In fact a lot ago lol, but if it gets the ball rolling again then you can have my car's party pic from my 21st Birthday. In all her party glory, balloons and all. How about keeping it simple to get back in the swing. A photo of your car at a Ford dealership with either an RS or a Mustang in the same shot :) There's plenty about now this one should be easy.

  15. This fault first happened at 75mph while overtaking. Selected neutral, switched engine OFF / ON now engine started again. All OK at 60 mph but dangerous to risk any faster especially in the outside lane. Had to fix this quick so purchased a code reader from Amazon but no code was stored. Only way to get a fault code was to drive hard to get car to cut out then pull over and stop WITH IGNITION STILL ON and then connect code reader. Fault code was PO 251 Injection pump fuel metering Control A malfunction. I suspected fuel starvation so replaced fuel filter. The contents of the old filter was emptied into a jam jar and checked for metal particals which is a sign of faulty injection pump but all OK no metal in the filter. Also blew air into fuel pipe to the tank, bubbles came up in the tank so no blockage there. Next day had 600 mile round trip job , so purchased BG244 injection cleaner and full tank of Shell V Power. Found car ok on cruise control set to 70 mph but still cut out when trying to hold 70 mph up a hill. Car cut out at least 10 times that day. This still seems to be low fuel pressure. The injector nozzles should be clean by now so can't be that. On internet found injectors have spray nozzles plus a pressure relief valve which opens to let excessive fuel back to the tank. A common problem is this valve leaks and fuel pressure is reduced in the fuel rail. That seems to be my problem. NOTE : It only needs one injector to leak to cause low fuel pressure but always best to get all four injectors fitted with new leak back valves together. Got a quote from a diesel specialist garage at £1300 + VAT = £1560. This included diagnostic test plus injector leak back test and 4 reconditioned injectors plus coding the injectors. Decided not to bother with the garage I will take the injectors out myself and get them repaired. -------------------------------------------------------------- Removing the injectors on a 2004 Mondeo is the easiest job I have ever done on this car. I followed the Haynes manual. See quick guide below. 1) Remove battery negative lead 2) Wait about 2 minutes for fuel pressure to drop in the rail. Mark the position of the 4 high pressure pipes to the injectors and remove these 4 pipes. 3) Remove the front camshaft cover screws and lift the two triangle metal plates so that you can now unplug the 4 injector electric leads and remove the 4 leakback clips. 4) IT IS VERY IMPORTANT THAT NO SPECKS OF DIRT ENTER THE FUEL RAIL OR INJECTORS so cover the open holes with Duck Tape ( photo 1 ) 5) Unplug the electric plug at the right hand side of the camshaft cover using a bent screwdriver to lift the clip inside plug ( photo 2 ). Also disconnect the crankcase vent pipe ( lever this off with screwdriver ). Unclip the wiring loom and position to the left side with the triangle plates still attached to the wiring loom. 6) Lever out the 4 injector oil seals then remove all screws holding the camshaft cover. Remove camshaft cover. You will now see a brilliant design of an engine. The 4 injectors are in an oil bath and so you will have no problems unbolting them. Most other cars including the expensive ones have the injectors fitted to the outside of the engine block and corrode solid, new engines are needed in some cases but no problems for a Mondeo TDCI. It is now very important to understand that the 4 injectors have a different 16 bit code on their labels and the engine management has to be told what 16 bit number injector is fitted in what cylinder 1.2.3 or 4. I counted 1.2.3.4 from left to right and marked the injectors with a hacksaw blade one at a time as I removed them and also WROTE DOWN THE 16 BIT NUMBER in a diary for future reference. Each injector must be refitted in the same cylinder after reconditioning. IF YOU GET THIS WRONG THE CAR WILL NOT START. ( photo 3 ). If you get a rough idle after refitting the reconditioned injectors the engine management computer will have to have this 16 bit number re-entered. When the injector is fitted you will not be able to see the 16 bit number so don't forget to write it down while its out. You can re-code the engine management yourself as injector programmers / code readers are available on ebay at only £16-95 each. Give it a few days to settle down first though, as the engine management has a built-in learning curve and should automatically do minor adjustments itself. 7) Unbolt the 4 injectors, I used a box spanner with long ring spanner very easy. ( photo 4 ) 8) My local injector reconditioner company was C.A.E. DIESEL LTD Chingford London 0208 527 8077. John the owner was very helpful with advice. At 10am he had the injectors and I collected at 4pm same day. All injectors were fitted with new leak back valves and spray pattern checked. ( £95 each + VAT ). 9) Keep the protective covers on the injectors and refit them in the correct order also make sure the flat part where electric leads fit is facing front. Use a metal rule to line them up. I found it easier to finger tight first and then turn injector 45 degrees back then tighten with the box spanner. The injector turns as the bolt is tightened so as you cannot see the flat part, its a bit hit and miss but its easy enough to get them tight and lined up. ( photo 5 ) 10) Refit the camshaft cover and then the injector oilseals. Dont forget to connect the vent pipe and the electric plug. Refit the high pressure pipes in the same order. Connect the battery negative lead. I did not replace any oilseal or pipes, all were reused. The Haynes manual advised renewing everything but to me all parts were still good and I checked with Fords they do the same as me. There is no need at all to bleed the fuel rail. Any air thats inside will be compressed to nothing when the injector pump starts. I turned the key and it started within 4 seconds. Road tested all OK now and tick-over perfect. Total cost including VAT was £456 I saved over £1000 and learnt a lot. Good Luck with yours. Dave Latest update: 12th April 2015 New cutout problem where glowplug flashes then instant cutout. Not a fuel problem. Faulty batch of Camshaft Position Sensors. Type on google " MONDEO TDCI 2004 MORE CUTOUT PROBLEMS ALL FIXED NOW " for full report.

  17. Doesn't matter what value you put in when insuring it, they will still give you market value anyway. That's why GAP is worth it when buying any new or nearly new car. Just don't get the GAP from the dealer as it's overpriced.

  18. Sorry to hear about Bunty, GMX. On a seperate note. Caravans and people who don't do the NSL, how come when I'm tootling along in my tractor within 1 corner I've gone from 0 cars behind me to about half of Shropshire and that's at 55k. Yet I was stuck behind a caravan on the way home tonight and last night I was stuck behind some complete idiot who was doing 45mph(so was tonights caravan) and I can be sat behind them for ageeeeesssss and they only ever have about 4 cars behind them. Can somebody please explain to me, why other drivers don't do the NSL, in fairness I can sit at 55mph but 50 or less and it makes my blood boil. My view of it is, driving at that speed is causing other drivers to make silly mistakes, I've seen it & being a tractor driver I've experienced it.

  19. If the key no longer starts the car then you've broken the transponder chip. This is passive (not powered by the battery) and seperate to the circuitry. You'll need a new transponder and someone who can program it to the car (auto locksmith or main dealer with access to IDS.). Sent from my SM-G930F

  21. I worked it out earlier that Bunty lived far longer than any of my other previous cats. Everyone else, apart from Benji (hit by an Audi on the main road) went between 12 and 15 years There on and off heavy rain is hampering my grave digging, I've only got 600mm (out of an intended 1500mm) down so far, it keeps filling with rain The down side of a clay subsoil Bunty will be buried between the Hibiscus, Sarcococca and the pink camellia, which was her favourite spring snoozing place. she joins Peggoty, Sascha, Tigger the 2nd and Benji, all of whom are interned in their favourite I've got Molly, who seems to be wandering round not settling on her usual cushions, mioawing from room to room Brandy too seems to be mourning, she also shared the back seat with Bunty (in her carrier) on the way to the vet. She noticed the carrier was put in the boot on the way back, and she watched me transfer the carrier to the garage, and not bring it back into the house . Brandy of course has known Bunty for far longer than Molly did,

  22. I'm only going with poly bushes as it's the easiest option without actually dropping the subframe. Also I don't have a tool for the pressed in ford ones so it saves me trying to get one. Are you getting a lot of knocking from the rear subframe too?

  23. I'm so sorry Ghana, it is one of the worst things to lose a pet. They are completely dependant on you throughout their lives, and eventually you become somewhat dependant on them. She is in a better place now and free from suffering. Do you have another cat? If so, how are they taking it? Cats are known to be close to their companions and can become very depressed when one dies.

Hello and welcome Andrew If you know the registration or Vin of the vehicle you want to buy, then you can use Ford Etis to look exactly what the car left the factory with. https://www.etis.ford.com/vehicleRegSelector.do;jsessionid=67DAC76407F9B6F017E2EA33CEE49430.eccvas506 Depending on what country you are in, you may have to change to that country under Preferences https://www.etis.ford.com/options.do

  31. Focus for size over the Fiesta - however the Fez will go quicker if they have the same engine output. You can get a nice 12 plate 1.6Ecoboost 182 for that money. - infact the one I turned down is up for that price at Skipton Ford.

  38. This seller says he can send to Brazil for £10.50 postage: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/FORD-FOCUS-1-6-1-8-2-016V-1-8TDCi-ST170-Mass-Air-Flow-meter-Sensor-98AB12B579B1B-/301366195213 I have no experience of the seller, only what it says on the website. But I would further investigate the wiring before buying. Usually, these units have a +12v supply, two ground (0v) pins, a flow output signal, and a temperature output signal. Back-probing the pins on the connector should reveal which is which, and if that does not confirm a fault, I would test it on a bench with a psu & meter.

  41. Don't think I've seen inside a modern Lexus, that's surprisingly nice! Obviously looks good outside (bar the swirls you've pictured lol), and yeah, I'd go with rear tints personally, not just for looks but it keeps the car a bit cooler and stops you getting blinded from behind. Was your Focus one with a 'fixed' DPF iirc? If so, did you tell the dealer when it was traded in?

Won't be going much further than that on my own for a few days! Got a trip up to Oxford next weekend, but I'll have my mum with me. So nice to not have those blasted L plates on my car anymore!!

  49. I'm beginning to dislike a neighbour in a rented flat nearby more and more.... To say he seems like a complete bell end would be an understatement.... I caught him piddling on the road a while ago because he was too desperate to make it inside... (an extra 20 metres or so)... I should have rubbed his nose in it there and then... Out the back of ours is a road with bins and the occasional 'item' that someone is throwing out, one day it was a bed in pieces... I came out one morning to see this bed impaled on a post.. We have cctv and it's always interesting to see whether it's a local clown or a passerby.... yup, it was the drunken staggering neighbour who felt he'd do that.... This morning I open the door at the back to let the dog out and notice a bank card sitting in these small weeds, I scooped it up and proceeded to the CCTV room - (it's happened once before it was a bank card belonging to a guest at a neighbouring hotel, so I figured this could be the same thing)... sifting through the footage, I see the card suddenly 'appears' almost as if thrown, it requires another camera angle and guess who, Mr Bell End neighbour walking down the road throws it... I've no idea how he's come to acquire the card as I doubted it was his.... he is a rather more tanned than I'd suspect someone with a German/Dutch surname to be... Jumped on facebook and there is a bloke with a matching name as the card, but does not look at all like my neighbour - I can't message him however as I don't have a FB account myself... I phoned up the bank and told them all the details of the name/account etc, so the guy said to destroy it and they'll send a new one to the owner, it just makes me wonder if this guy is a grade A !Removed!, or just some lesser !Removed! who found it on the road during his walk back from the shop... either way, I dislike him! Wait, we can't say scr0te anymore?!?!?! It's like a technical term around here for a good proportion of the population.... you can't ban that word! On a related note, it was very strange to be overly thanked by the bank phone operator... It was 8:20 am, I'm not used to niceties that early in the morning... left me wondering if I am a minority, having phoned up to report it.... I guess I could have dropped it into the cop shop, but is this not common?!?
