  2. Around may 2013 time I'd say. The cruise control issue was weird. When it was set and was going up a hill it would just apply full throttle all the way to the top. As you can guess that was a little scary. Other times it would hesitate when you asked for more power then give it all at once. As you can guess this wasn't normal or acceptable hence the reason for returning the handset. Since then I've been told all these problems have been addressed.

  3. Finally sorted out some tool cabinets from Halford's, not only enjoying the half price offer on them but using my FOC discount card to get another £30 off nearly. Started to sort through all my tools, went today to buy a new jack as mine has seen better days, replaced a couple of spanners I have lost and get some socket rails to sort my sockets out and make it easier to find stuff. Still some sorting and organising to do to get it exactly how I want things, but for now much better than what I used to keep my tools in, an old flight case and loose in the boot of my Focus. Not to mention some weight saving in my car lol There are more tools I want to add to my collection along the way, and probably will keep adding to it as I go. But a fairly comprehensive tool kit up to most jobs required. Loads of different sockets of every size I could ever need, decent selection of spanners of all sizes I should ever need. Odd sockets fir wheel hub nuts and spark plugs etc, more extension bars than I care to need you can't see them in the draw as they are against the edge. Small medium and large hammer for whacking stuff after trying to to fix it when it wont work lol Impact driver, too many screwdrivers, the green see through handle screw driver is actually older than me, it has been smashed by a hammer numerous times used a a pry bar/chisel and still is in one piece, they don't make tools like that any more. Multimeter, mutli tool, wire brushes, paint brushes, ball joint separator, brake pipe flaring tool, various grips, AJ's, pliers, wire cutters and a small and large Torque wrench. Not to mention my tablet and VCM2, ELM 327 with Forscan and Opcom for Vauxhall as two of my friends have Vauxhall's. All i really need now is a garage.

  4. The two wires to the two way connector are both 12v power, one is from the GEM, one is battery, via the battery saver relay. That is how it can work in Auto (sensing doors etc) or Manual, but still goes off after 30 mins or so if you leave it on. So they should be wired to the corresponding wires on the front lamp. The single connector is ground, and can be connected to the body anywhere, or to the ground wire on the front lamp. Scotchloks should be fine here, it is not usually a wet environment, low load, and non-critical. I can hardly believe that Ford would miss out a rear light in a 2010 car. A 1950 car, then yes, it would be a real luxury, but not now.

  5. Thanks for all your help guys, I managed to source a used egr off a recently broken car that was compatible and avoided the annoying clip by just swapping the motor from the replacement unit onto the valve body from my original unit that I know is fine. Reset the EGR Adaptations with FORScan just now and cleared the codes. Everything seems good! Back to normal throttle response etc. so I think we're good! Good thing too, I have to drive to Scotland today... Thanks again!

  6. Hmm, interesting that you've both got newer models with the cDPF. On the older additive DPF it was so poor at it's job there was a failsafe mileage between regens, so no more than 500 miles (iirc) between regens. If this wasn't necessary for the more efficient cDPF I suppose that may not be there at all. However, I'm surprised you don't have an 'ashful' PID, as that would still apply. FACM is still present in FORScan on a mapped DV6 that originally came with one. Not sure about the other PIDs though.

  8. Well, here goes, I'm Mike, just stopping by to say hello! I've just bought my 3rd Ford of my driving career, a 2001 (X) Focus 1.6 LX with near 140000 miles on the clock... Sounds like a lemon doesn't she? I would have agreed with you there, but the old girl just passed its MOT on Friday, with a clean sheet and was sold to me (afterwards) for the princely sum of £375. Other than a few of the usual faults, key fob not working, central locking activating only if locked / unlocked from the passenger side and indicators that don't self cancel, she seems to be a solid old girl, I'm quite pleased. In fact she feels more solid than the 2006 Peugeot 206 SW that she replaces (and runs better than that car ever did!) that car didn't even reach 80,000 miles before giving up the ghost. Anyways, hello all, I hope I can glean as much help and advice as I can to keep this old girl on the road for as long as I can!

  9. If the joints can touch any metal parts, wrap 2 or 3 layers of insulating tape over them, as an extra protection. It is a good idea to put cable ties at each end of a spiral of tape, as it can unstick & unwind with time. I see your cable has an outer sheath. Good idea, otherwise I was going to say it would need extra protection near any edges like body panel joints. But still ensure it is not tight against any sharp edges. It is all quite low current wiring. The battery saver output should have a 10A fuse. The GEM output must have some internal protection, not specified that I can see. But the Ford wiring is only 0.35mm2, quite thin, so it must be 10A or less. So as long as you take reasonable care, it will be fine. As for the headliner, I have never modified one (well, maybe accidentally!). But as they say, nothing ventured, nothing gained.

  10. So getting a bit more organised to do this now. As laid out in the below picture I will need 3 maybe 4 more scotch locks to finish of the connections needed. I just hope using so many scotch locks will be safe? I am going to also have to take me brave pills whenever I go to cut the headliner also ha.

  12. I do like a nighttime trip out to town to fill the C220 up with diesel and discovering that in 290 miles it only used 34 litres, therefore achieving just under 39MPG. Not bad from a 20 year old 2.2 litre diesel with an automatic transmission! Further to that, I like buying a bottle of sherry (my occasional treat) on the way home and enjoying a few glasses with a film tonight. Unfortunately my day off tomorrow will probably be spent rushing out to an emergency dentist appointment (severe tooth/gum pain around my lower left jaw), but that's a post for the other thread... On a final "do like", I got some nice pictures of the abovementioned C220 yesterday after a quick jet-wash. I will treat it to a professional valet nearer Christmas though.

  13. Yes, tiredness (and stress!) can do that to you. Many times I've come home from work and felt like death warmed up, then went to bed and awoke the next morning feeling normal again, which like you isn't great but is better than the alternative!

  14. Hi TomsFocus/bigup, That's interesting to know, as that could be the reason for it missing on ours. I think myself and bigup should post screenshots to show what we can see? As for the regens...I've noticed many haha! Best thing to look out for, when idling, if the current mpg reading is 0.2 and the engine sounds slightly deeper, then it's doing a regen. Otherwise it's much more difficult to tell when driving along, apart from the odd judder when revs are high but speed is maintained, especially when in a lower gear at 3K revs. Also, as mentioned the fans will be full on making plenty noise, so you'll hear that if standing outside the car or when you pull up. If that's the case, best not to cut the engine until mpg reading returns to 0.1. Mine seems to like doing regens when at 1/4 of a tank, might be a trigger point? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  21. agree with above answer... and..... your age is highly relevant here. I'm sure I could get insurance on that car with 1 yrs NCD but I am over 50 yrs old. Also it is relevant why only 1 yrs NCD. Could be that you have been driving for one year or could be that you had higher NCD in past but now have 1 yr due to claims causing it to step back down. But also, if someone tells you how much they pay you have not mentioned Third party only, TPFT, Comp and what excess. So many variables

  22. Thanks Peter, all too aware of the fusing needs, as mentioned I've always gone from the battery before, with multiple fuses inline plus at least 4 gauge cables :) Being slightly more mature now I have upgraded my doors, just going for a little bit of kick with one of these https://www.talkstuff.net/index.php/index.html/_/reviews/subwoofers/alpine-swe-815-active-subwoofer-with-wired-remo-r1381 My electrical theory made me think the Fusebox feed would be fine, just wanted to be sure!!

  23. It doesn't matter if anybody else has, insurers have countless factors which will change the price. Where you live (postcode specifically), what you do, where the cars parked at night, the list goes on and on. For the record though, I just got rid of my Zetec S (now an ST), had one years no claims and was paying £950.

  24. I don't like that it's suddenly the time of year where people are spreading viruses around again, coughs and sneezes all over the place...as someone who's terrified of catching anything I think my next trip to Tesco will be in a haz-mat suit... And on that note, I don't like whatever happened last night, I'd had a headache all day, and by the late evening felt extremely rough, was so tired I couldn't keep my eyes open and fell asleep in the chair at ~10pm, can't remember the last time I fell asleep out of bed, must've been over 10 years! When I woke up I was boiling hot and so shaky and wobbly I could barely walk to the loo. Got in bed and was panicking that I was gonna be ill, trying to go through all the food I'd eaten if anything might've been dodgy, and all the places I could've caught something, put the radio on to try distract myself from it but it didn't really work. At some point I fell asleep and woke up this morning feeling the same as normal...which isn't good but it's not deathy either lol. I'm wondering if it was simply tiredness that caused it but I really have no idea!

  25. Hi bigup, I also have a Mk2.5 2010 1.6 TDCI and have exactly the same issue. There aren't any of those options which others seem to have! It has been suggested that we should have the latest DPF with the ceramic coating, which means we won't have a fuel additive tank/module as it's not needed. Maybe we don't get all of these additional readings? Would be great if someone could actually confirm that...but I'm pleased I'm not the only one :) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  26. http://www.usnews.com/news/business/articles/2016-09-20/aaa-research-finds-people-waste-money-on-premium-gas Interesting article that suggests that premium fuel is only useful in high compression engines. I make the assumption that the 140PS engine might benefit from them more so than the 125PS. Of course it might not be relevant in other fuel markets and I think the US measures octane ratings differently (their 87 is Euro 91 RON, etc). My point being that if the article is correct then the octane rating of the fuel should have little impact on the Bluefin tune. I regularly use Thai 91 RON fuel in my 2014 1.0 Ecoboost 125PS and have not (yet) experienced any problems. My Bluefin tune is likely to be different from the UK one though as the engine is a Euro 4 spec one.

  30. I do wonder how exactly the dpf is mapped out. Are the PID's still present in the ECU but inactive or are they removed from the ECU coding, in other words a remapped car may not offer those PID'S as they are no longer there. In fact I think yours has probably been gutted and mapped out. Hence the missing PID'S in your case.

  31. Air con condenser probably got a small crack, quite common even on new vehicles, ive done a few inc focus, cmax and transit connect. Get your dealer to check it out properly. Will be covered under the 3yr warranty as long as it's not stone/debris damage

  32. It may feel different owing to a change in the fuel mix. I suspect that the mix of hydrocarbons in petrol is different in summer and winter owing to their different volatilities. Short hydrocarbons are cheaper to produce but evaporate at a lower temperature so you don't want too high a mix of them in warm conditions. Short hydrocarbons have a lower calorific value too so mpg would probably go down too.

  33. Willy did you have to make any ABS/ECM changes? Was there a noticeable increase in front brake bias (ABS locking up the wheels earlier than the unmodded version)? Trying to work out if it's a worthwhile mod for me. Thanks.

  34. Odd. There should be entries for DIST_REGEN & DIS_ASHFUL. In the list of found modules, does it include FACM? (Fuel Additive Control Module) It should be on the main HS-CAN bus, and appear with the rest, like pcm, ABS, IC. Also, try monitoring the DPF DP signal. If that is very low, and FACM is not reported, that would suggest your car has been "modified" at some time. Have you ever noticed a regen?

Their are plenty of sellers out there just try to get one based in the U.K. My monitor is a eonon and if you go on to YouTube it explains how to fit one to a focus. It was not too hard to fit just a bit tricky getting the extra loom to go into the dash Thanks for the complete about the colour I can't understand why it's not more popular let me know how you get on and like I said take a look at Lenny's tutorials and also another member by the name of Pree they have some excellent ideas

According to the wikipedia map of the range of sloes, they don't appear to be up there. in Scotland itself: but not in the northern isles https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prunus_spinosa https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Prunus_spinosa_range.svg You do have bilberries in abundance up there, they work well in a vodka or a neutral grape spirit base.

  42. I'd assumed I would have finished rebuilding my shed wall by the time I lost the daylight, a moment ago, and started on the re-roofing However, I was banking on the original shed frame being square and true: which it was not!! Near enough every upright was out, by between 2° and 8° !! There's also some unexpected skewing on some of the beams. I've spent most of the afternoon truing it up and as a consequence, have only fitted 3 horizontals to support my new shed skin. My mate who's an insurance broker was on about a 17 year old they'd got cover for, on a Range Rover: the annual premium was £22K with £10K excess Although unlike yourself, this 17 year old had managed to have acquired 7 outstanding claims against him (in just 9 months of driving!) and had just recently written off one of the family cars. His Dad thought he might be safer in the Range Rover, apparently.
