  3. headliner and trims all completed and what a difference it has all made to the inside. was pretty easy to change it all over just a case of undoing all the grab handles, sun visors unclipping all the A,B,C,D trims and then just reverse to put in the new one the only thing I have not done is wire up the rear light and the lights that are under the sun visors as I have the zetec model that does not have the rear light or the lights that are under the sun visors. At some point I will have to see about getting some black studs (not sure what they are called) as can be seen in the pictures I have had to re use my cream ones. I think for the time being I am happy with how it all looks and as can be seen from the list I have changed a fair bit from how I got it from standard. here is a list of what I have done gloss black zetec s front grill gloss black fog light surrounds, colour coded fog light rings gloss black Maxton design front spliter short gloss black ariel and base panther black mirror caps and mist washer jets climair smoked wind deflectors zetec s rear diffuser with gloss black middle with exhaust pipes coming out etch side upgraded L.E.D rear lights from a st st rear spolier ford gel badge over lays 17 inch team dynamic gloss black alloys interior changes tinted rear windows cloth recaro seats + rear bench carbon fibre dash surrounds from a rs carbon fibre look radio surround upgraded sony radio/6 disc changer black headliner + A,B,C,D pillar trims from a st carbon fibre look air vents carbon wraped door handles and steering wheel inserts colour coded gear stick and cigarette surrounds under bonnet chrome ,header tank cap, power steering cap wing rail covers colour coded washer bottle cap k&n filter and filter box aqua graphix fuse box cover and air deflector panel

  7. Mercs are just designed to die from the very beginning. With their crap quality steel and lack of protection. That and Renault derived engines in some.. enough said lol.

  8. I'm the sort of person who will happily force an overfinch range rover onto the verge on a single track road and watch the driver steam up his windows as his 275/40/22's get a teeny bit of mud on them :)

  9. There's a 2.8GB update available for download on the Ford site to my computer, transfer to USB drive and then into the car. The dealer can apply the same update to the Sync 3 software. I'm told this is a fix-all update which affects 140 different aspects of the software. You can tell if your car is eligible by entering your VIN on the Ford site. Mine is but I've a nagging reluctance to have it - will my car still go afterward? Has anyone any experience of this update? Many thanks.

  10. Mine was doing this, on the driver's and both rear doors. Spray silicone (not spray grease, BTW) on the hinges and restraint bar shut it up immediately. ETA: Pic. This sort of thing.

  11. ***** hell the petrol versions ratios seem close, in the diesel it's not happy in 6th until I'm going about 55mph

  12. I was fortunate in a way. I had a 1.0 100 fiesta, which bugged me a little as wanted the 125. However now I have the focus with 125 and the extra 25 is probably covering the extra size. 6 speed box is mental though over the 5 I had in fez. My fez wasn't really all that happy in 5th til approaching 50 mph maybe 45 at a push, but focus is looking for 6th at 40. P's. That's a lot of gear changes between 0-40 but I love it. 13. The diesel engine is a Renault, the petrol engine is Japanese.

  14. I would say if you don't know the difference then I would get someone who knows about brakes to show you what to do, or take it to a garage.

  15. People on here are using a leaked version 3.0 as I seen it on a Google search last night. Not sure when official 3 is out though. I just don't get why the car isn't finding even the 2.3 update via wifi. I've seen others say they got it that way. Maybe need to stick sync on dmz of my router and try or try someone else's wifi. Maybe even create a hotspot off my phone and see if it detects it.

  16. Mine is the same, we think the seal on the rear light is leaking causing water to leak in. I can't confirm as i haven't tried to fix it yet. Let me know if you have any theories

  17. At grandads house you have to climb over the front seats and get out the rear drivers door that lines up perfectly so that it will open into the side exit of the garage. How he manages to do that every night touching 80 years old is beyond me. I end up working in our cul de sac where there's room to park two cars without blocking anybody's land. Garage is full of crap and tools (which I can never find. Even came across a snap on socket last time I was digging around). Driveway isn't really level enough for jacking a car up on 4 stands. Working on the street is a pain in the ***** walking back to get tools though. Don't want to risk wheeling my tool chest over as I'll probably never get it back up the dropped curb (has a 15mm ish lip on). Saves the drive from jack stand damage and I don't have to worry about slippy oil that I've spilt.

  18. A bit of dialectric grease wouldn't do any harm on the terminals to prevent any water ingress and therefore corrosion. I use it when I've soldered a wire before I move the heatshrink over. That absolutely guarantees the water will stay out. Normal grease, copperslip and silicone isn't as good as dialectric grease, and won't stand up to the voltages and higher temperature at the plugs.

  20. Why di you not ask them to hold it until the new plate? I did! If they told u it had to be registered at time of ordering.....they lied!

  21. Well guys deal has been done, number plate removed, deposit paid, waiting for new V5 for my car, get the car insured and then take the ST and bring the RS home here she is the new replacement. Sad to see this go but onwards and upwards :) i hope the new owner enjoys it as much as I do and have done :) Mk3 RS Magnetic Grey fully loaded slight mods bit totally stock performance for now ;)

  22. Good questions, Jonro. I know nothing but don't see why the engine would have to be running for the update to work. I vaguely recall that the owner's manual suggests the car just gets on with it. I'd have thought the dealer would do it without charge under warranty since there's clearly a problem or the update wouldn't be necessary. I'd rather the dealer did it than me doing it myself. As I said the update affects 140 things/improves 140 things but who knows what they're supposed to be. Chas

  23. Lol took up 4 bays . Just shows money doesn't determine the size of someones brain. Yeah could say they parked like that so no one parks right next to them and hit they door on the bodywork. I have to park in a residential area 3 days a week and do get a little worried about careless drivers parking front or behind the car.

  24. A synchronised block-in would have worked wonders there!

  25. Thanks Shamus, Will have a look at that and let you know if it fixes the problem. I obviously have a problem but for now it has gone away. Really hard to determine the cause and absolutely no point taking it to a garage as its currently running like a dream.... ARRRGGHH! If it not the above from Shamus then if i do find the cause i'll let you know/ Craig

  26. I don't know if it's an anodised finish or satin chrome but either way buffing it enough to take out the scratches will significantly change the surface finish and it won't match the others.

  27. They don't seem to last long with the experience I've had with them. They are cheap for a reason and Euros sell some really crap parts/brands so nothing new lol
    1 point
  28. I don't think you'll ever be able to successfully disguise or polish out the scratches so if they really bother you (they would me!) your best bet might be to get a good one from a scrappy and change it.

  29. There are a few used on ebay but may not be any better than yours - https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2007-Ford-Fiesta-1-4-TDCI-MK6-F6JB-engine-throttle-body-9656113080/152518234419?hash=item2382cb9133:g:q64AAOSwJ4hY-NOq If you want a new one I think it'll be a main dealer only part.
