Actually collected my ST Line X 140 today. WOW, looks awesome in Magnetic Grey which sets off the 18" rock metallic wheels. Despite the frustrating wait it was well worth it. I guarantee you will be impressed when all your cars are delivered too!3 points

Hi my name is Lydia and I just bought my first car a Fiesta 2014 ex-demonstrator from Evans Halshaw!2 points

Yes, these are the Daytime Running Lights (DRL's) and will stay on untill the car is locked (or will go off by themselves after a few mins). No, they use so little power and go off after a few minutes anyway. Not without reprogramming stuff I don't believe. Most people can't change a wheel anyway, so manufactures gave up giving spare wheels and use this tyre weld stuff instead to get you home. Downside is that a nail that can be removed and patched up costing £5 turns into £80 for a new tyre. Evans Halshaw, Arnold Clark, Perrys etc. are all the same style of dealership. All of them get their cars from either part ex's or auctions, give them a quick inspection and a valet and sell them on. Getting a bad used car is just luck of the draw which is why you always take it for a test drive and give a thorough inspection before buying. In all fairness I wouldn't go slagging the dealership off for not telling you how to bluetooth your phone (which is the same in any car really) and not giving you tyre weld instead (again pretty common nowadays). Maybe if the car starts giving you problems and failing on you, but you can always buy a spare wheel from ebay and stick that in there.2 points

Its quite simple. There are normal levels of boost for general driving. Above that, overboost gives a higher boost pressure, extra ignition advance, and extra fuelling for a strictly controlled/limited period of time. It allows extra occasional performance without having to do an wholesale engine redesign. The diesel doesn't have a true overboost function, due to the different physics of compression ignition and lack of ignition advance. A Focus 109 diesel is 109 PS all day long.1 point

Looks good. I first thought black on black may look a little odd as the black badges may camouflage into the paint however it suits it.1 point

No doubt it was pumped up just before you got there to take ownership so that when you drove off and got a flat they could say it's a wear and tear item and bad luck that you got a puncture on it. Thankfully there's legislation in place now that kinda prevents dealers from doing that, but still doesn't stop them from trying to fob people off. I know people before now who have stood outside dealerships before putting customers off buying a car from there until they got given a refund.1 point

Nah yer not getting me dude those parameters like coolant etc are all setup by the user you can choose what you wan ton the screen yourself from 100 choices. I will post a video so you can see just how magic it is - the only problem with using smartphone is that you need a sturdy camera mount my current one is a bit wobbly whereas the gopro is rock solid so need to look at modifiying my old tubecam mount which is glued to the dashboard somehow! Its a pleaszure Lyd glad I can help save you some money - i see you are Scottish lol we are all a bit tight up here haha You can get Torque free from the android app store but i recommend buying the pro version for £2.49 its got a lot more in it and its more than worth it. You need an Android phone it wont work with posh Apple phones or Blackberry or Windows phones! https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.prowl.torque You should also get one of these it plugs in the little pocket to the right under your steering wheel called the OBD diagnostics port. It will also allow you to check your car and see if you have anyh faults - i notice you are a bit concerned you bought a dudd car so you can check with this ok! https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/ELM327-V2-1-OBD2-CAN-BUS-Bluetooth-WIFI-Car-Auto-Diagnostic-Interface-Scanner-HB/352105537739?hash=item51fb2020cb:m:mMg9rdEzsabqSnSGucK205w Any questions just ask there are loads of good guys on here who will always help a ladee in distress lol1 point

If the tyre keeps losing pressure then it could be the valves are damaged, there is a puncture or some other damage to the alloy that is letting air out. Might be worth checking with a local tyre garage if you don't trust Evans Halshaw.1 point

Can you link the video? I'm guessing the health report will be a load of crap and nothing but a gimmick, not sure about the "web upload thing" though.1 point

The lights that remain on until you lock the car are the Daytime Running Lights (DRL) which you will see on most modern cars during the day. They shouldn't affect the battery of the car. As standard, the Fiesta's don't come with a spare/space saver wheel and instead come with the tyre repair foam kits which should seal and inflate the tyre if you get a puncture. They are no good if the tyre is severely damaged (side wall damage etc.) and will only be good enough to get you to a nearby garage where you should get the tyre replaced. **Edit** What Luke said1 point

SYNC is a name Ford have come up with that basically just means bluetooth connectivity. All you need to do to get Sync working is connect your phone with bluetooth and away you go.1 point

Just started using Torque with track recorder - 100 Times better than any dashcam - amazing amount of info on screen - RPM / SPEED / GPS LOCATION / TRIP MILES COVERED / MPG / COOLANT TEMPERATURE / G-SENSOR and the ability to add any of 100 ECU parameters to the screen on a wide aperture and 16 megapixels 5.5 inch screen at full HD recording 1080 , 128gb sdcard for massive storage at 1080 full HD I dont see any Dashcam beating Torque. As its running its also gathering OBD data and checking for ECU errors - there are also addons to auto upload the video to website, satellite map and i've just added a fuel economy addon to check my consumption - amazing piece of software £2.49 cheaper than a dashcam. Only caveat is you need a decent phone to run it on but mine only cost £70. I can also recommend AUTOBOY its also a good but basic free Android Dashcam app! I am currently preparing an article & reviewing a few dashcam apps on various phones for a UK review website so also just done one with Dashcam GT+ on a Nokia Lumia and its quite good as well - lots of info on screen so there is scope on any phone to be used as a dashcam!1 point

Heat up a screwdriver and push it into the remainings of the plastic plug. After the screw driver has cooled down the remainings of the plastic plug can easily be removed. I have used this method lots of times. Note that the holes must be sealed if no roofrack is installed to prevent water ingress and to protect the threading in the roof. I always use stainless steel allen bolts and non hardening liquid gasket to seal the holes.1 point

Here just one of many links off YouTube but bare in mind the prices, the night vision on the Pro seems black and white or very close to it. A person on here put a clip on when he put his Pro in but it still looked black and white on the night time. Mine is the older version of the bottom one A119 but i do have the A119s on rear for night as better view in low light or no light,my front is better than the S being 1440p but falls behind at the night so that's on the front being i have headlights to run off.1 point

you will probably know from googling it that this has been a problem form a huge number of owners and it happens again. But the problem there is that turbo fails so the turbo is replaced, but the cause of the turbo failure is not fixed so the new one fails prematurely. Restricted oil supply to the turbo bearings is what makes it fail as you now know. some people say you should use flushing oil to clean out the engine but other people say don't do that as it loosens up a load of crud that then causes worse problems of blockages. anyway, whatever you do, after the engine is running again I would periodically check that filter to see if it looks like it is going to block again1 point

The newer builds of the EB 1.0 have an uprated coolant pipe fitted and also an extra pump that keeps pumping coolant through the turbo when required, even if the engine has been turned off. The 125 BHP version of the engine comes with the 6 speed box is lovely to drive although like all turbo petrol engines it can't deliver performance AND economy at the same time. The 1.5 EB has had it's own issues in relation to an apparently rather irritating rattle (there have been at least 2 threads on here about the issue), Ford reckoned it was "by design". It's also not a particularly modern engine so isn't great on the old economy front and isn't as keen to rev out as the 1.0 EB so can feel a little sluggish/strangled. Personally I'd go for the 125 BHP 1.0 EB IF it's a late enough version that it has the additional pump circuit to ensure everything gets cooled down properly even after the engine if shut down. I personally think it's much nicer to drive (when you want to have fun) and on a steady motorway run on cruise control, will still deliver 50(ish) MPG. EDIT - I found the rather lengthy thread where the 1.5 EB rattle issue was discussed 1.5 EB rattle issue thread link1 point

My 1.8 TDCi made a definite hissing noise when the intercooler pipe was split, I'd expect all turbo engines to be the same as the principle i.e. boost pressure is the same regardless of the fuel type/manufacturer.1 point

F800 has parking mode and I think it has low voltage cutoff. Problem with parking mode is it drains your battery if you want to leave it at the airport while you go on holiday etc and if you have a dudd battery on its way out its even worse. My mate uses his connected to a spare battery under the passenger seat. Did you consider smartphone or Cheap sj4000? - night time vision can be excellent , parking mode would be a doddle and best of all it can be free or cheap as £3 plus a screen mount? In Scotland we like it free lol so I can apprecaite your needs vs costs lol A second hand cheap 16 megapixel smartphone with a lens addon to give a wider field width and mount can be way better than any dashcam on the market in terms of night vision, resolution and capacity with sdcards up to 128gb and best of all the draw from your usb is very very small compared to dashcams - you can also take it out of your car if you have a crash to video potholes and damage and evidence from the other driver - it can also be plugged into your pc to download the footage easier - there are so many more advantages to a smartphone as it has gps positioning can measure your speed and you can also use it as an OBD diagnostics live with Torque and an obd module plugged in while you drive - no dashcam can do what your smartphone can.1 point

We've become a nation of lightweight namby pambies with no idea of preparedness or common sense. If people don't like something these days they whine and complain, give it a name ending in "...ist", and a bunch of lentil hugging peace hippies fall over themselves to tell them its alright. Unfortunately, these lightweights haven't figured out that the tactic doesn't work with Mother Nature - its a part of Darwinism, and bleating about unfairness won't help them this time. For my own part, the Nokia Allweather's on the Fusion are munching their way through the snow like its not there. Nevertheless, all my Search and Rescue gear is in the boot so if the worst happens I'm not reliant on outside help. The emergency services have better things to do than rescue ill prepared fools who can't take advice.1 point
