  3. Had my ST Line X 140 for nearly two weeks now. Cannot wait to push the start button everyday! Road holding superb as you can really throw it into corners. Engine noise in the cabin is awesome as it sounds like a 3 cylinder V8! Build quality is superb and love all the electric gizmos, etc. Well pleased with the colour choice of Magnetic Grey as well. Had several new Fords but this is the best yet!

  4. Haha, it sure does! Same here, trying to stick to 3000rpm but when you feel the turbo starting to kick in, it's so hard to resit just flooring it

  5. Today is the day for the Blues clearly! I took mine for a little spin earlier, gave the engine a little prod up to 3000rpm and it certainly makes a nice growl. Going for a long drive tomorrow, going to be hard to resist winding it out!

  6. Just delivered! Looks really really nice in the flesh, the blue really pops in the lovely sunshine we've got in London today as well! Haven't been for a drive yet but initial impressions are the interior is generally really good quality, steering wheel is lovely, and seats are excellent. Will report more when I've stretched her legs this weekend! Oh and the pedals seem really well spaced for some heel/toe action (nice after my last car which required some extreme pivoting!).

  10. Soo...umm...I'm starting to believe I'm really an adult... Not only am I moaning about the quality of dishwasher tablets and checking my credit score (considerably better than I thought it would be lol) but I'm just starting the mortgage application process with Clare. Still need to knock the owner/landlord down a couple of grand...cheeky sod asked to buy our caravan and then adds £2500 onto his asking price!! It's fine - he's near enough family - we'll beat him down He's debated selling for a while - but he's still emotionally attached to the house...he grew up here with his grandparents, and really struggled after they died. At long last he's managed to let go - but he'll only sell to us, which makes the whole haggling thing all the more amusing. I'll get Clare to give him a ring tomorrow and call him a knob lol (To be fair, we are being a bit cheeky with our initial offer ) Sooo yeah...growing up...being an adult. Next step pipe & slippers, moaning about the youth of today, comparing things to "back in my day" etc etc Also...puppy...she always brings a smile to my face!!

  11. There must be a kind of bloke that doesn't shy away from DIY. My dad gets out of it whenever he can. On the other hand, i'm always doing something when I return to my folks... the last time I had my hands in the failed macerator replacing the capacitor (this is not a nice job... 8 years of, well, crap! have gone through this machine). £6 component, and 4+ hours of work, because, well, you may aswell clean and service the whole unit whilst it's out!

  12. Well it has taken what seems to be an age but the RS has finally arrived. And god it's awesome. Here's the back story of order to delivery which I decided to keep pretty much to myself as I knew the wait would be hard enough without sharing the pain with you guys. February 2016 - Never thinking I could ever afford an RS and that the Fiesta ST MP215 would be the pinnacle of my Ford ownership I saw an advert on a Ford dealer website offering repayments of almost exactly what I was paying for the ST. But wait what about the insurance I here you ask? OK that's what I was asking anyway. So I did a quote and found that the premium was actually a few pounds less than for the ST. Oh god that makes it feasible. So off I trotted to my local Stoneacre dealer to see my friendly salesman Steve. We sat down and placed the order. RS mk3 in Nitrous blue, standard seats with blue bolsters, lux pack, 19" forged alloy wheels, sync2 nav system and door edge protectors. Fantastic everything I want and expected build date to be October 2016. £1000 deposit paid. Only problem is that RS orders can only be placed at Ford Stores and my local isn't one. So the order is placed via the Doncaster branch, he can't see anything on his system so will have to ring Doncaster for everything. Two days later Steve rang me. "Good news and bad news" he says. "Good news is we have a cancellation with a build date of May 2016, bad news no door edge protectors" let me think...I'll have it!!!! March 2016 - Then the horror stories start to come out of the forums and Ford themselves. Oil leaks on the production line no cars being released and many a potential owner getting ***** off. Then I get the dreaded call. "Your build date is being put back to June but you can have the door edge protectors" Well that's OK one month extra but everything I wanted, I can live with that. April 2016 - bad news continues. Build date back to July. June 2016 - Build date back to October. News on the RS forum that the winter pack, (heated seats and steering wheel) not previously available in UK but was in Spain, I don't understand either, is now available in UK. Get me that I tell Steve but only if it doesn't delay the order any further. He gets it on the build schedule, happy days. I also find out that one of the reasons for the delay is that Ford have run out of Nitrous Blue paint. Seriously? Sack the guy responsible for that. August 2016 - Ford Fair is quite painful as all I can see are RS's at ever turn. October 2016 - Sent an email to the RS team at Ford UK. Can you confirm my build date please? Reply states it might be December but two week shut down over Christmas means it might be the New Year. Enough is enough now. I'm very unhappy and seriously considering cancelling my order. So I march off to the dealers. Steve checks and is told that they have a build date of 10th November. Another email to Ford UK later that day to be told, "actually yes build date is 10 November and here's your VIN number. Whooop. Straight onto ETIS and there it is and they started building on the 8th two days early. November 2016 - Over the next few weeks I watch the car being built including an upgrade to Sync 3. Then I remember we've never actually sat down and worked out the finance in detail. Better get that done then. Off to see Steve, he's nowhere to be seen. Off sick I'm told he's had an operation and not due back till the New Year. *****. Anyway Paul says don't worry we'll sort it. What did Steve arrange for you. So I told him. "Seriously? That's a cracking deal." says Paul. I'll see what I can do. December 2016 - 5th - Paul rings. Car has landed at the dealers. If we can sort the finance you can pick it up on the 10th. God I'm nearly wetting myself now. Problem is they can't find any of Steve's paperwork, great. We discuss the finance and of course the screw tightens, your ST is now 9 months older and has 10k more miles on it so its only worth......f*** all. Jeez what now? A bit of hard talking and I get another £2k out of him. That's better. But I still need to find a bit more cash and the payments are £50 more per month than the ST. Just before Xmas, not good timing. So I juggle some finances around cancel the wife's Xmas presents, joking, and no problem I'll come in tomorrow to sign the papers. 6th- Where's Paul? His day off! Ahmed will sort it, he's the sales manager. We sit down and he gets the finance details up on screen. Your payments ill be £330 a month! No they f***ing won't be, says I. He's only quoted me on the current increased list prices not the cost when I ordered back in February. So panic over. Finance signed, Collection agreed for 11am 10th December. Saturday 10th December- The BIG day - Drove the ST, on fumes, to Doncaster, it needs 4 new tyres, current ones are like slicks, and the 3rd year service which I never got done and saved myself over £500 in total, so if you buy it make sure these have been sorted. I'll miss that car it has brought me 3 years of driving pleasure and many great memories. I arrive at the dealers to see the car in the showroom covered with a Ford car cover but the profile is unmistakable. I sign what seems to be every page of the bible hand over the ST keys and V5. OK sir if you'd like to take the cover off your new car? ***** hell not half I'd like to; Right that's all the buttons explained, phone paired let's get this show on the road. Hope I like it? Like it, it's chuffing amazing. What a car, like brown stuff off a shovel, more comfortable than the ST and sport mode transforms it into something else. I'm never going to tire of this. Here's a couple of photo's on the way home. And it's first wash That's all for now guys. I'll try update this thread over the coming weeks and months but it's hard when you never get out of the driving seat.

  13. Hi all. My first project thread with a Ford... something I thought I'd never do. It's a 2005 Ford Focus Ghia 2.0 TDCi which I've purchased as a cheap daily for my 40 mile round trip commute I do with my new job. I've actually replaced a 2013 BMW 330d with it so quite a step down but I've got a sensible head on for savings in the long run. So the car was purchased on Monday and it does require some TLC as I'll explain after some pictures. It's had a recent service and front brakes, a terraclean and engine decarbonise with the receipts for all, which was the main reasons I purchased it over anything else local. Problems: Alloys corroding badly The tailgate has a dent just below the Ghia badge I have a problem with the front windscreen washers as it sends the water to the back but operates the front intermittently. We're thinking pump so will need to investigate further Water ingress in the boot from the right hand side, thinking the rear light judging by the water trail and dampness Plastic is broken around drivers side mirror Plans/Mods: Tidy up bodywork, a friend is a vehicle painter so will fix as much as he can Refurbish current or replace alloys with 17/18" Leather interior seats if any comes up for the right price Upgrade head unit from standard Ford one with a touch screen/bluetooth/etc Upgrade mirrors to integrated indicators with powerfolding if possible Mk2.5 rear lights (I much prefer the honeycomb style) Replacement Ford badges, have ordered a set of Black/Silver gel ones for the front, rear and steering wheel Possibly get a second/replacement key fob as the current is far from great Retrofit DRL of some kind, I miss having them on the BMW Let me know your thoughts/recommendations. Cheers.

  14. To put it simply, it will cost more than it would've been to buy a higher spec one with the options. Powerfold mirrors - £150 (plus cost for painting and buttons on drivers door). Then you have to hope the wiring is there. Wrap - At least £800 for something basic depending on where you go, colour etc. I'd be prepared to pay at least £1200-£1500 for a good job though. Cruise control - £100 for the steering wheel plus an Elm327 adapter to activate using Forscan (not sure if you need a wiring loom too). iNath looked into this quite extensively on the pre-facelift models, so try this guide here to see if you can upgrade. Satnav - £200 plus cost for SD card with map on. You'll need a modified Elm327 and Forscan to activate it too. All these prices (apart from the wrap) is just bits required if you were doing it yourself. Be prepared to pay considerably more if you get a garage to do all of it.

  15. I work for a company where you're still considered new if you've been there for less than 10 years lol. I'm not quite old enough to be working for that long, but I don't plan on moving jobs unless the country goes even more downhill and I end up moving abroad.

  18. Picked up my Blue ST-Line X earlier, got to say, it's a fantastic little car. Not really pushed the engine (for obvious reasons) yet but general ride is good (a little firm but not unbearable). The Adaptive Cruise is such a great thing to have, definitely worth the money. And the B&O Play sound... it's as good as I expected. Clear and crisp and no distortion at higher volume. One hell of a car overall so far!

  19. So, Are you telling me the file I have on my PC for a Sync 3 update that I got from https://www.ford.co.uk/owner/resources-and-support/sync-bluetooth/update#/ is different to the Sync 3 Update that ford would download from what you called IDS? Really? Are you telling me there are actually 2 versions of the update out there? Sorry, but I find it hard to believe.

  23. read your insurance documentation. I know companies vary in the words they use but there is usually something that says 'what you must tell us about' and it has things like - any alteration to your vehicle including but not limited to cosmetic alterations including wheels and bodykits. When I was first driving in early 80s it was more common for them to say you had to tell them about things which increased the performance of the vehicle (which you could argue meant Engine power) but nowadays I am pretty sure they all want every type of alteration disclosed. Also when you take out the policy you answer questions about modifications. They then usually issue you with a Statement of Fact that the insurance is based on and that will typically say something like - you have told us the vehicle has not been modified in any way. If a claim arises and they find you have made alterations which the insurance company has not agreed to then they do not have to pay the claim for damage to your vehicle. They have to pay the compensation to third parties (if your fault) but the insurance company then has the legal right to claim that money back from you due to the non-disclosure of vehicle mods (which could be quite a lot of money if you seriously injured someone. In some cases people might get away with it. eg. middle aged person who knows nothing about cars buys a 10 year old car with alloy wheels on, not knowing the car originally had steel wheels on when new. This actually happened to a lady I know. She had a battle but the insurance company eventually paid up accepting that she could not have known the wheels had been changed. There is no way she would have known or even suspected. This must happen to other people also. In many cases it would be very very hard to check when you buy the car even if you tried.

  24. Yes you have to replace both mirrors & door panel with switches but you dont have to . you need to check how many pins your mirrors cable has now. if you have 8 10 or 12 you are good to go to activate you need foccus and obd cable. I will post some instuction later on today.

  26. De-badged the back of the car and looks so much cleaner. also installed the dual boot unit so will get some pictures later on tonight. Very simple install, highly recommend CEUK after all the bad reviews I’ve been told.

  27. If you have already taken the two bolts out that hold the mechanism in place then the whole lot should just come up with the bonnet - it might need to be moved backwards towards the engine a bit to get past the lugs, and be careful with the electrical connector which I think is linked to the alarm. That is exactly what I did with mine and it was a pain but did get it open that way. Then either replace the white plastic cross with a longer aftermarket one off ebay as said above or what i did was remove the key barrel and cable altogether and I made up a tool which slots right into the catch mechanism to open the bonnet through the grill.

  28. Hi folks, my name is Mark. I just bought my second Focus..this one is a high millage (91k) 1.6 d zetec navigator on a '64 plate. Fsh etc and in very good condition. It's a lot better in every way than the old T Reg one I had. Hiya say, I want over bothered about buying it,I was overruled by the boss (wife) as one of the boys wanted us to have a red car. I needed an estate so I can indulge my hobby of sea fishing. Needed to fit my rods in the back. Anyway, I hope to learn a bit from you all and I'll ask any questions as and when I find something I need the answer to. M.

  29. It's because you've let the lock barrel droop and the anti-tamper has kicked in. At the back where the lock cable joins to the mechanism (under the rubber cup) is a plastic rod, if it pulls out of the mechanism then the splines won't turn. Pull the rubber cup off and you should see the connections to be able to click it back together. I recommend you replace the rod with this aftermarket one which seats more firmly- https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.co.uk%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F252245489448 Sent from my SM-G965F (S9+)

  31. Tried it this afternoon...you're right, it will stop in neutral with the clutch up with the handbrake still off. I'm not sure when that scenario would ever occur in real world driving though, felt weird holding the footbrake without the clutch.

  33. with insurance there is never one company that is best for all. there are so many factors , age of driver, area you live in, group rating of car (and some insurance companies vary these according to their experience), different NCD scales etc etc which means that different insurance companies come out cheaper depending on the combination of all of the factors.
