It's never been a problem on any car I've ever worked on lol. you are not soaking it or spraying it over a prolonged period, a quick wipe over and it evaporates near enough instantly anyway.2 points

Take a few stones with you. When you need to go in your car, chuck them at something in opposite direction. When folk turn to look where the noise came from, open your door.2 points

For those of you who no longer watch Wheeler Dealers after Edds departure your in luck Looks like he's coming back with a new show (sounds a bit Car SOS) but oh well https://classics.honestjohn.co.uk/news/comment/2018-04/edd-china-returns-with-new-garage-revival-series/1 point

Hi, all I recently picked up my new Fiesta Mk8 st line 140ps. I have been playing with the speed limiter on it as I've never used one before or a cruise control. I just wondered what anyone else thought about it? I am finding is strange when you are going down hill or up hill. Seems like such hard work for it and could be causing more bad than good. On a straight road with it set at 40, 50 or 60mph it seems brilliant. Eith great fuel economy around 60mpg showing on the computer Does anyone else use it regularly or have any tips on how to get the best out of it?1 point

Hi Bannko, I have a 2016 focus titanium without Nav, is it possible to enable Nav on it or do I need to retrofit hardware? How is it done?1 point

No, that is basically what they said in a nice way. We have also just contacted Ford themselves to see what explanation they can offer as I think this may start to fall under the consumer credit act where we have purchased something or are paying for some part that isn't fit for purpose and have been sold the car with features that don't work as they should. 6 months to receive the car and then sent with features that don't work with no apparent fix isn't really good enough...1 point

Thanks for that update - obviously no point in hassling the dealer at the moment then!1 point

Thanks for confirming this Peter, it's entirely possible that the sensor croaked and I just happened to be low on fuel and thus couldn't restart after fueling and priming. Yes 5v was measured back probing using some 1mm twin and earth copper with ignition on (engine off as it refuses to start 😑) Test will be after fitting new sensor. It comes with rail but I'm going to just fit sensor as it looks much easier than undoing all the plumbing.1 point

I tend to fit genuine cam cover gaskets, regardless of car brand. In this case I'm sure they are around £45 from the dealer. No need to do anything other than make sure the surface is clean and no carbon deposits or anything stuck to it. I usually spray some brake cleaner onto a rag and give it a wipe. No sealant or anything required, the new gasket will seal correctly if the head is clean and the cam cover is in good shape.1 point

Just had an email through from my dealer. Said building is accelerated and mine is is expected to be built within the next couple of weeks for hopefully a June collection. Only ordered on the 20th March.1 point

Meguiars Endurance Gel is the only one I've found that lasts. It's about the same price though.1 point

I’m not sure anyone is likely to teach you ‘how to steal a car’ lol. Not saying that you are cloning keys etc but there are many unscrupulous people who lurk around forums to gain information. With all the keyless entry cars being stolen it’s maybe not the best thing to ask. You are best off getting the key cut and then getting ford to code it for you. You can obviously do it yourself using kit and software that is legal to buy on eBay for the price of a decent meal out but I wouldn’t expect a tutorial.1 point

it's a well known problem with those cars. you could replace the turbo and it will fail again. I think a lot of people would replace the turbo and sell it on quick, but it's not really a good thing to do to offload the problem on someone else. But that might be what was done on the one you bought. A lot of people look at problems too simplistically. Turbo fails, replace the turbo, but the cause of the failure needs investigating and fixing. Some people say it needs cleaning out with flushing oil. but others say using flushing oil loosens up more of the crud that causes more problems. I don't know which is best advice on that point. I would say unless you can do the work yourself (replace turbo, take sump off etc) it is not worth putting more money into it.1 point

View of the connector is below, looking at the harness part, I think. If the 5v on the signal wire was with the transducer connected, and engine not running but ign on, then that would be about as good proof that the sensor is duff as you can get. It matches up with the 2000Bar reading, and the error code. I would expect under 1v on the signal with engine not running. There may be some residual pressure in the line, but not much. Worth double checking though, I have made dodgy measurements many times. Back probing is done with a small pin inserted between the wire insulation and the connector seal. You can buy kits for it, and there are videos & web pages on it. But improvising with a sewing needle usually works, just a bit more fiddly. If it is the sensor, they can be got fairly cheap for the 1.8TDCI, though I don't know what the quality is. The wire colours in the picture may be wrong, they are from a Focus, but I am 90% sure the connector will be the same. If you do change the sensor, take extreme care not to get any rust or other dirt into the common rail unit. Next stop is injectors, and they have tiny metering orifices in them, and delicate solid metal valve seats.1 point
