  2. As some of you may know, I've been waiting for the 2018 Fiesta ST for some time. I placed my order back at the end of April, and it finally arrived at the dealers yesterday. Here's some pics they took of it being unloaded, and then some pics I took after I went to look at it today and take it for a spin. It sounds and drives amazing, can't wait to pick it up Saturday! 😁

  3. It has been some time since my last post, the road has been long.. Siberia is vast. Im so proud to conclude I've made it to Vladivostok. I wrote this sat on shore of the Pacific Ocean watching the sun set... Before I continue to write anything of substance, I first need to show appreciation to the true MVP of this entire journey, credit where credit is due, I say a "thank you" to my 2002 Ford Fiesta. It has taken me everywhere without even moaning, from the -25 temperatures of Murmansk (which lies well within the Arctic Circle) to the vast steppes of Kazakhstan... it has been personally escorted into the closed town of Baikonur by the Russian space agency Roscosmos... it has been searched thoroughly by border customs which suspected it for being a trafficking vehicle for human organs, it has crashed though Russian Federation military checkpoints, has crossed deserts and grasslands, has climbed the mountains and valleys of Asia.. has entered annexed Crimea (which is illegal and breaks UK, EU and international law), from the borders of China to the borders of Afghanistan, from Kosovo to the largest lake in the world: Baikal ... I am so so proud of my first car. This trip began in 2016, a road trip which has come to a fitting conclusion after nearly exactly 2 years. Russia has been a country I have wanted to visit for over a decade, and oh so casually a former colleague went to Moscow to visit her brother. I was so so envious, so jealous, and it was this event which was likely the catalyst that lead me to where I am today. It was mere months after her visit I had given work my notice and applied for a Russian visa, (in fact from memory she even helped with my early visa enquiries by asking her Dad questions for me) .. with visa approval and my theory that Russia 'wasn't that far' I decided to drive instead of fly. 35,000 miles later I have arrived in Vladivostok, a goal I set myself but in reality never expected to make it. They say its not about the destination but about the journey, and I can honestly say: whilst this is true, to reach the Pacific Ocean is an amazing feat. The people I have met along the way, the friends I have made for life, seeing poverty and having perspectives blown apart, I am very humbled to have had such an experience. From selfies with strangers, people waving and beeping welcoming me to their cities, traffic pulling me over and asking for selfies, the whole trip has been amazing and I will cherish memories for life. With 35,000 photos perhaps one day I will write a book, but for now I simply write these words... I say farewell to my car, for this has always been a 1 way journey for the Fiesta. Transport Aid Japan is a NPO located out of Japan specialising in providing Africa with cars donated, however they no longer operate since my initial departure and thus the fate of the Fiesta has been an unknown for sometime. After last minute plans I'm happy to say I've found a charitable solution, I've spent the day meeting with the guys from Drive2Vladivostok (an instagram account primarily focused on models and the modded car scene) they do a great amount of local community work:- especially for an orphanage here in the city with children aged 5-16. Drive2Vladivostok have been integral to helping me find a charitable solution, Im really grateful for their help. My car is to be sold and all the proceeds donated to the orphanage, I find comfort that hopefully the Fiesta will find a new life and also help those less fortunate than me along the way. The DVLA will be notified that this has been gifted. I sign off with a warm thank you to everyone I've met along the way for the happy memories you've given me.

  4. WARNING: Do this at your own risk. After watching some crash tests online, I’m happy with where I’ve placed my cabling but you may disagree, with regards to airbags. Plus, be careful prying the trim off. Did this today and has taken me most of the day, mainly due to the rain, however you could probably do this in a few hours. Thought I'd share to help anybody out that want's to give it a go. I have hard wired a Thinkware F800 PRO front and rear dashcam into my 2016 Ford Edge Sport (UK RHD). A little background, I have no electrical experience, just read a lot on the internet and hardwired a simple dashcam into my previous car, so can't be to hard. What You’ll Need (To do it the way I did): - Dashcam(s) - Hardwire Kit - “Micro3” & “Micro2” Fuse Taps - Crimping Tool - Grabby/Reachy Thing (I used a couple large zip ties with that thin wire stuff, see pics) - Long Nose Pliers - Socket Set - Voltage Tester (Screwdriver like thing with a bulb in) - Couple Flat Head Screwdrivers (Thick and thin) (1) Placing the Front Camera Self explanatory. Put mine just below the blue strip so the centre rain sensor cover doesn’t block the camera view much. (2) Crimping and Power Cable Routing I used the fuse box in the passenger foot well. Just push up with a screwdriver in the 2 spots to lift the tabs out. (Page 285 of the handbook has the fuse box diagram) I used (Micro3) fuse (8+9) for the Battery feed (Always live) and (Micro2) fuse 36 for the Accessory feed (Ignition live). Make sure they are the same in yours, or find 2 fuses that work for you. Use the voltage tester to check which fuses are always live and which are live only when the ignition is on. Small piece of metal in the pic below for the earth. Depending on what dash cam you use, check online for which wire goes where as, especially Thinkware, they’ve changed it round recently. NOTE: Plug both fuse taps in and tape the earth to some metal to test the wiring works before routing it all! I started on the side, this panel comes away with a bit of force straight out from the 4 clips. Be careful not to disconnect the airbag switch. Followed by the second panel which again, just pops out with a bit of force. I fed my pully/grabby thing through this gap initially, to get the plug end around the back of the fuse box. Then fed it it behind the big bunch of cables on the left of the footwell so it’s out of the way. Then fed my grabby thing through this gap to pull the plug up through. I held the cable against the back, so it will be behind the second panel I pulled off, ready to route around the windscreen. I then routed it around the bottom edge and up the side and top. There was literally not a single bit of excess wire here, so luckily it just reached. I tried to fit the fuses but the fuse taps I bought wouldn’t fit in the box because of some excess plastic getting in the way. I used a Stanley knife to shave the excess plastic off. It is important which way the Micro2 fuse taps go in (Or any standard 2 slot fuse for that matter). I’m no expert, but after a lot of research, I found that generally speaking, the live side of a fuse slot needs to go in the opposite side to which the cable sticks out from the fuse tap. To find the live side of a fuse slot I used a tiny screwdriver to slot into the fuse slot and used my voltage tester on the screwdriver. I found for the slot I used (No. 36) it was the top half of the fuse slot that was live so the fuse taps were slotted with the wire going down. The Micro3 doesnt matter as it’s the centre that is live. See the picture for which slot the original and new fuse goes in to. Finally, loosened the bolt in the back and attached the earth cable there. NOTE: When I pulled out fuse 36 to test for the live side, the manual didn’t state these were included in this fuse, but a chime went off and it reported the front camera and collision assist system had a fault. Once I replaced this fuse, they all went away and everything works as normal. Bit worrying at first! Obviously it came up on the dash as this is the ignition live fuse, so needed the ignition on to test. All good now. (3) Rear Camera Mounting and Cable Routing Initially, I plugged the rear camera cable in and just chucked it through the car and plugged the camera in. Using live view on my phone I found where I wanted it and stuck it on. Right near the top in the centre (slight gap in the heating elements was perfect place for it). To do this I just climbed in the boot and shut it. Was gona get out, realised there was no button, went to put the seats down and climb through when I realised I had the car keys in my pocket, keep them on you to open the boot back up! Unplugged the rear camera and began from the front. Starting at the top again, I tucked the cable in the roof lining occasionally using the flat edge of a screwdriver to push a little further in. I then fed it around the end of the airbag in the harder trim (check crash test videos online to make sure you’re happy with this location. I made sure to leave plenty of excess in a couple places further on) After that, I continued along the top of the door by just lifting the rubber seal and tucking the cable into the roof lining again. Once at the centre pillar, I went to tuck the cable, plus excess into the trim with a screwdriver again, and unintentionally the soft trim popped off by 2 clips at the top, made it easier to get the excess in and then just clipped back on. Around the top of the rear door just the same as the front, then into the harder trim again at the back of the car. This just tucks in very easily without removing any trim. I also put a load more excess cable in here. Once at the back, I removed the centre plastic trim with the boot open. Several clips that just pop out, near the sides, you’ll need to push slightly down and out towards you. This panel takes a bit more force than any others. I continued routing the cable from the side, under the roof trim and again guessing how much more cable I needed, put a load more excess in there. The next part was to release the rubber cable pipe on the top near the boot hinge. Theres 2 tabs either side and a large on at the opposite end. See the pic below, takes a little bit of force. Then fed the cable through the gap using my grabby thing again. Now, probably the hardest bit, I put my grabby thing through the flexi tube to pull the cable through... that was fine... getting it back through with the plug and cable is another matter. Took a bit of force but have to be so careful not to damage any of the existing wires. Last cable routing, forgot to take a picture of the exact place but the pic below will do. Put my grabby thing through the top and out near the flexi tube to pull the cable through. Plugged the rear camera in and put the plastic trim back on. It sits with a gap at the top so the cable sits there with no problem. Finished by testing it all worked... and surprisingly it did! Camera is hidden well behind the rear view mirror and both cameras are within the wiper swipe. Barely notice the rear camera in the mirror whilst driving. On another note, the camera isn’t the most amazing quality, but I got it for the parking mode with built in voltage monitor so as not to flatten the battery. Will see how it goes over the next few weeks.

  5. You can remove the surround it's held in place by some plastic clips and some metal ones . I removed it to fit a fuse tap for my camera.

  8. There is a thread on here where step by step instructions are given on fitting a dash cam. The make may differ, but the principle is the same. Have a search.

  11. I feel you on that one sir. I have severe anxiety myself. I'm not anxious much when I drive but it's when I'm out and about and I see something that triggers it. My anxiety is related to contamination from things or people (illnesses etc) so I limit contact with people as much as possible. Driving is the only thing that actually helps me (unless I see someone being ill). It definitely isn't mind over matter and we can't just simply snap out of an anxiety or panic attack. A lot of people think we actually chose to have anxiety, but that couldn't be further from the truth (usually it's related to some form of trauma experienced by a person). Yes, PS3 is free to play games on but unfortunately it's mostly a mod fest these days on the older platforms. I always look for good offers when it comes to PS Plus. I actually got a great deal last year and ended up extending my membership by 22 months for only £50 (expires end of October 2019). I mainly play racing games (but not GT Sport) but have dabbled in a few other genres such as action/puzzle (Uncharted series) and episodic games such as Life is Strange (both games) and Tales from the Borderlands. I'm currently waiting for Forza Horizon 4 to be released for my XBox One so I can play that alongside the other Forza games.

  12. My flat does the same thing. Sauna in summer, igloo in winter. I know that my flat has not been below 28c inside in recent weeks and it still isn't below that now, despite the window being wide open and a fan blowing air through. It's stopped raining here too and is drying off. It's supposed to rain again later this afternoon here and give us some thunder and lighting (which is a thing I don't like, lol). I do like seeing the beading of water on the cars too.

  14. If the dealer told you at the time there was no camera then i dont see you having any comeback against them. They told you the car didn't have one installed and unfortunately you perceived the car did have the camera fitted, doubting the salesman at the dealership.

  18. @TomsFocus I keep myself busy with the PS4 and sometimes going down to slim's detailing but not all the time as it might look odd 😂. At the moment I'm clearing my room out as cabinets will be coming soon to put in. Got a skip which just arrived in the morning to make it easier throwing rubbish in @alexp999 I've started to move away from PvP multiplayer games. The amount of frustration I've been in playing competitively against players has made me think if this is a health risk. In COD for example I'm playing zombies which is coop. Yeah there are times I get angry at some players especially those who leave just a second before the match begins or are no help. GTA I like to find a public lobby but with no players in it so I can do my business without worrying about a kid coming in with a jet and griefing me. GTA has just become a hostile game and I don't want to be involved in that. Once I had a group of kids gang up on me so just message other players in the lobby to kick the main guy out. One of them found out and just was sending rude messages to me. At the end I blew him up and left. One of the reasons why I've moved away from PvP

  20. @TomsFocus I play Destiny on PS4 there are people in the clan who do PvP, but I and the people I'm most friendly with only do PvE. I hate the competitive PvP stuff. I play most other things on PC now, I do have an Xbox, but it's sat collecting dust. My gamertags are in my sig if you want to add me to your friends list on any of the platforms. I also like car shows, but have no-one to go with. Are you going to Ford Fair? I'm going this year.

  21. 45 mins to do the registration file and the maps. Voice guidance update to do later then it's finished. I expect the voice guidance bit to take about the same amount of time. The failed attempt was because I put the files into a folder called SyncMyRide1 and referenced this path in the autoinstall.lst which *should* be possible (I did it because the second USB stick has a folder called SyncMyRide2 and a similar reference in its autoinstall.lst - just so I could easily identify which order to do the two updates in). However nothing happened, at all; no errors, no update - nothing. I concluded that although it should be possible to use any folder name, as long as you reference that folder name in the autoinstall.lst, actually it isn't. The upgrade process on the hardware must specifically be looking for the presence of autoinstall.lst and a folder called SyncMyRide on the USB stick to start the upgrade. I'm going to post my instructions and the complete two sets of files for each USB stick here later. Whilst they and the downloads are available on another site, the instructions there aren't terribly clear and you have to write the autoinstall.lst files yourself. Now I need to do it all again on my other half's Kuga. It's beyond me how two 2017 cars can be sold with 2014 maps and no official route to upgrade from Ford or from a dealer.

  22. Low pressure is the larger one, right at the back near the brake fluid res on the mk2 iirc, awkward position tbh.

  23. Used to think super would make no difference to the ecoboost and although raw performance is no different. Fuel economy has improved by around 10%. enough to cover the 5ppl additional cost so will probably keep using it.

  24. Currently averaging 61.8 mpg on super unleaded trip computer says I should be able to do 560 miles on a full tank. Run normal bp on last fill up and struggles to get to 55mpg. Super worked out £3.60 more expensive and the car is on 900 miles - really impressed so far.

  25. when driven sensibly mpg is brilliant I also find the warmer weather helps too. people drive these engines by smashing the throttle and brake constantly then wonder why mpg is so bad.

  26. Thanks. Just went to Halfords to get some went to see if I could get pip off to realise it actually hasn't got a damn hole in it after all. Blond moment or just wishful thinking. That's it I'm done with the crappy car.
