  1. Our sons have bought Anker Bluetooth speakers and they seem well built and dependable. So tempting to stick a 'W' on the speaker grill though!!! 😈

  3. Okie dokie. So one word of warning, the 1.6 TDCI is a very fine engine, extremely efficient but its also unforgiving. I had a 1.6 for years and religiously changed the oil every 6k and the fuel filter every 12k, thats a lot less then what ford recommends but its not worth the risk. Now, the sump on this car is designed by a complete moron. the plug hole is recessed which captures about 100ml of the worst possible oil you can imagine, the thick dirty, laced in carbon nasty crud. you really want to make sure your oil changes are getting every last bit of the old stuff out of the car. not sure a pump will do that job. the car is 3.8L, so I used to buy 5L, empty the sump then pour a litre of good oil in to help flush out some more of the old crud, that gives you 4ish litres to fill her up. the IC Is the intercooler, sits low in front of the radiator, itll be fine clean it out if you ever run out of things todo. Check your hoses for splits, theres one at the top 90d, which joins a metal pipe, check where the brackets join for rust and holes, its a common weak point. theres another large rubber hose on the end of that which joins the IC, then on the other side of the IC theres another longer hose coming up, check that as well. Making sure thats all good will cost you nothing so is an easy job to check. Get that oil change done right, plus filter. if you have a laptop get yourself one of these, it can greatly help narrow down problems! https://tunnelrat-electronics.fwscart.com/TRE27_USB_AUTO_MS_HS_CAN/p4541936_18511559.aspx Id check that fuel filter again as well, I got a cheap one off ebay once and it was crap, died after about 4k, sometimes its worth getting from a store!

  7. Its a bit of a marmite subject. There isnt any conclusive evidence either way but here is what we do know. Base fuel is more or less the same for everyone, but different additives are added depending on who wants to do it but the basic fuel will always be of a minimum acceptable standard. we also know that diesel had its sulphur removed to aid emissions, sulphur is a natural lubricant. so ultra low sulphur is just another way of saying ultra low Lubrication. For diesels this is a big deal, your injectors are probably around £200 a pop plus the insanely high pressure fuel pump, they are finely balanced and timed and more importantly they are moving parts. Low Lube and moving metal isnt a good thing. Does the fuel have some lubricating properties? yes, but is it wrong to ensure its better with "premium" fuel? Thats where the fact ends and the subjection starts. I feel a difference in response between Tesco's crap and Shell v-power, I hear a notable difference as well, I also get about 2-3mpg more when using it. You could experiment with adding 2 stroke low ash oil to your fuel. I get about a 10% improvement when I use that stuff (200ml per tank) Personally I take the view of never touching supermarket fuel, ill use shell most of the time and vpower occasionally.

  8. Looks fine, you get oil vapour passed in to the intercooler via the breather pipe, it will collect in to pools. might be worth removing the IC and flushing it out. but a drop in power could be down to countless possible reasons. Fuel filter is usually a good place to start, when was it last changed? You say down on power but explain, does it feel sluggish, does it hesitate, does it make noises. smoke, warning lights.

  9. Depending on what you're prepared to pay, Anker Powerline Micro USB cables via Amazon are dependable. If you want to cover your bases on a cable for the (near) future, this is a combo adaptor cable for Micro USB/C/Lightning: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Anker-PowerLine-Lightning-Samsung-Smartphones/dp/B07215381G/ref=sr_1_11?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1533745015&sr=1-11&keywords=anker+powerline+micro+usb

  10. Well, Just had a thermal imaging camera take a look at it, and it seems something is at 42 degrees in the heater unit, ( car hasn't been started for a good 8 Hrs) and a relay within the glove box fuse box (internal) is sitting at 19 degrees, and is therefore doing something when everything else is turned off. Read something, somewhere about an auxiliary heating system.... not sure if this is related / significant..? Will have a closer look again tomorrow. If I get to the bottom of it I will let you know. Until now, it's just a pain!!!

  12. Radweld is best used on an old engine you don't care about... It can block waterways and small pipes causing even bigger issues. I pulled the head off a car with a blown HG a couple of years ago, the owner had used radweld (probably more than they should!) and there literally strings of it going right down into the block like manky spaghetti! It can work as a quick fix if you're desperate, but I wouldn't risk it on a car I wanted to keep lol.

  13. It's the rear wishbone bolts that seize on the Focus. They then snap when you try to undo them for the rear adjustment... Unless you're having issues with rear tyre wear, it's safer to just have the fronts done on an older Focus tbh.

  14. Creating a Facebook profile and joining the group would give you access to all the info and advice for a number of things. This forum is not very active at all, the fb group on the other hand has lots of regular active members (me being one of them) with experience in all different areas. You will also need to be able to use Forscan if you install a reverse camera, and you can do so much more with it too. If when you are fitting the camera and you needed help you would get a response in under 30mins normally as opposed to hear when you could wait days. Its up to you though buddy, if you want to PM your email address I will send you the file you need. I don’t always get notifications from here so excuse me if I don’t get back to you quickly 😁

  18. Just an FYI that the entrance photos are up on http://www.photography-uk.com You can download the 400px wide version for free for the next 7 days, just add to basket and it takes off the £5 charge for it. I've set mine as my profile pic. 🙂
