  1. I see the Mk 4 ST is now appearing in the motoring press (Autocar, Auto Express etc), in actual form rather than speculative renderings. Looks very much like the same development of ST-Line styling we've already seen on the Fiesta, interior familiar stuff to any Mk 4 Focus or Mk 8 Fiesta owner, though with some rather tasty looking Recaros that look as if they might be more accommodating to - ahem - the fuller figure, than the ones in the Fiesta. From the press articles, It looks as if LSD will be standard, the Performance Pack adding stuff like red calipers, rev matching, track mode, etc. Looks to have plenty of grunt - 280ps at only 5,500 rpm and 310 lbs/ft of torque so might suit those who like me are still pining for a turbodiesel. Look forward to giving it a go when demos are available!

  2. Have you checked fuse 77 and 82? And is it both front and rear Also check the connector for the washer pump carefully for any corrosion. As the headlamp washers are working , the switch must be sending the wash signal to the body control module. Also check for corrosion at the body control module connectors.

  7. Out of my good will I thought on applying some trim restorer on my neighbours car. Every morning when I wake up and look outside my eyes would go to the faded plastic on my neighbours car. Hoovered my car then went across and asked her for permission and she said okay 😂. Before After Front bumper was my main concern. Didn't have enough product so you might see some bits still not covered but you won't notice those bits if your standing up looking at the front. Before After Doesn't look perfect looking close up but my neighbour was happy and actually tried giving me £10 which I refused but she then insisted I take a box of chocolates 😊 Hands were covered in this trim dressing which went rock hard

  8. Yeah it hurts, But I'm hoping that with all of this done now the coolant system on the car is as safe as it can be now. Hopefully worth it in the long run. Sent from my SM-G955F using Tapatalk

  9. So Garage work done. £630 later I've had the following done: Degas hoses changed to mk3.5 versions, coolant tank and cap swapped, electronic coolant pump retrofitted... and to top all that, garage confirmed it was the engine mount leaking, so had that changed too. Hopefully my worries over the coolant system will now go away. Shame the mount replacement wasn't covered under my warrenty, that was a £200 job on its own.

  11. I have checked the fuses previously nothing wrong with them but not after I have replaced the pump. I did checked again after a couple of days and it was fuse 82 blown. All sorted and working now. Thanks for your help

  12. Quick update: it's been 1000 miles since I tightened the terminal and the symptoms haven't returned - The posts were a bit mukky, so polished them up too. I'll check the battery charge too, just to make sure- Thanks again

  13. Tried it and it worked. The stop / start system, which hadn't worked for several months, now works every time. Exactly what I did is as follows: Ignition on for 10 secs, lights off, pressed rear fog light switch 5 times, press hazard switch 3 times, waited 10 seconds and the battery light flashed several times. It didn't work with the light on.

  18. I have only owned my car since December '18. Does anyone know for certain what type of imobiliser system I will need to enter within my car insurance renewal for my Ford Fiesta Titanium (Manual) 2014 plate. I am being asked whether it is a "Factory Fitted Thatcham Approved Alarm"? Thank you in advance.

  19. I saw these instructions on YouTube and it said to switch the lights on first. I tried it and it simply doesn't work with the lights on. Have driven just over 40 miles today and stop / start has never failed.

  20. I got her back about half 5ish and took her for a little test drive. All seems well, in fact the gearbox feels a little different, I suspect because the cables previously needed tightening slightly so there was a little "slop" but now it feels tight and precise. It's only ended up costing me £108 for a used box with 90 days warranty and £162 to the garage for fitting and box oil and although it's never nice to have to drop £250+ on replacing a part on a car, it could easily have ended up costing me a good £100 more (at another garage) or about £900 for a full gearbox rebuild so I'll take it as a win of sorts! I think it'll take a few commutes before I trust the car again, previously I could always tell myself it had never let me down so I'll probably be listening for phantom sounds for a while.

  22. My Mk3.5 is quite temperamental when it comes to locking, sometime it locks with the fob first time and other times I have to put the fob to my head to get it to work. That can happen even if I’m stood next to the car, or a couple of foot away. I’ve changed the battery twice and that didn’t resolve the issue. Never had problems unlocking though.

  25. The transponder chips are the important part everything else is superfluous. Just buy complete new keys and swap the chips, takes a couple of minutes to program the central locking to accept the new circuit boards. Be aware that some key cutters won't do aftermarket keys as they reckon the blades are too hard and can ruin their expensive cutting blades. Sent from my SM-G965F (S9+)

  27. I think the problem is, they're the secondary branch in the city as it were. There's a much bigger one, but its hard for me to get to and always full. Therefore, I reckon the less competent mechanics get stuffed in the one I'm using but sadly I have no other choice.

  28. Worked on mine when the fob stopped working, and battery replacement made no difference. It wasn't a new key/fob, just applied that vid to my 'broken' key. I guess they can lose the programing for some reason?

  29. I don't like needing an alignment after hitting a pothole (useless bloomin council!), and then having the garage muck it up so whilst it no longer pulls, the steering wheel isn't straight. Twice they've done it now, will be taking it for a third time next week as have no time this week now. Luckily they've tried to correct it free of charge, and said they will keep doing so. I suspect they're not clamping the wheel straight whilst doing it (its a National place which I'd normally avoid like the plague). Anyway, rant over!

  30. I can't speak for the car world but I'll make a little assumption that the warranty process is very similar, if not the same, as it is in the bike trade. Any Ford dealer should be able to do warranty work on a Ford regardless as to where it was bought and whilst those who do warranty claims get a feeling for whats warrantable or not it's simple enough to put a claim in and see what the manufacturer says. That's how it works for me in the bike trade so unless it is totally different in cars.....

  31. I've had happen to me a few times on my new Focus, I've often wondered what causes it , I always shut the car down correctly. Another thing that gets to me is having to keep acknowledging the satnav map by pressing ok whether your using it or not.

  33. Ok, never seen that before. Ours has been left on the drive for at least a week without being started. I guess there may be an option somewhere in the settings to turn this on or off? Still pretty sure this is the same message she got. She had to press the start button, car started then press again to stop and shut everything down. Ours was definitely left for the auto stop to kick in then she left the car. She presumed it locked using the fob, only give away something wasn't right was the mirrors stayed out. Something else new.learned. thank you.

  37. There's 9 pegs that is part of the trim. On some vehicles the trims will just pull off but others can be tight and need thin screwdriver from behind prising each peg. So access from behind required.

  38. Looking at some videos online it seems like they are clipped in similarly to my car, I was able to pop them out using trim removal tools and then a T25 torx bit to remove the lens.

  46. I had to reset my Battery Monitoring System on my focus to get the stop start to work. However my Battery is about 6 years old (think it's the oridginal one). Search my posts, someone showed the process for you to do it yourself. Although they have said if you do reset it and your battery is only holding up to 60% charge then it could see up the alternator as resetting makes the system think the battery is at 100 % Sent from my SM-G955F using Tapatalk

  47. I would check the battery connections first as said above then see if its holding a full charge. Also, could the alternator be on it's way out? I would check the fuse box under the bonnet is water tight too with no evidence of moisture causing a short.
