I don't like that moment when you're listening to the car radio and aren't sure that the emergency sirens are real or part of the music. Looking around and in the mirrors only to realise the delightful rap* music was the problem all along. * other genres may also be affected ๐3 points

Itโs a common issue with wind deflectors on any car. Itโs to do with the โanti pinchโ mechanism, the car thinks the deflector is a finger and rolls back down. You need to reset the windows. Put the window all the way down and then put it all the way up again - keep holding the up button and when it reaches the top keep the button held for 5 seconds then let go and pull the button up again for 5s and it should allow the window to remember that position/pressure as being fully closed. you might have to try it a couple of times as the window may keep bouncing down when you try it2 points

Certainly can, and you don't need to be that old. 2 star was mainly used for two stroke bikes in my youth, you had to add lubricating oil to the petrol yourself until the smart-a**e Japanese came along with "autolube"etc, where you had a separate oil tank and it was fed into the engine automatically. I think 2 star disappeared quite early, and 5 star about 1978, but 3 and 4 star continued until unleaded became universal. I started a 20 year diesel phase with a company vehicle about 1993, but was certainly filling my own Astra SRi with good old 4 star leaded at that time. I have a feeling the last "starred" petrol didn't finally disappear until the very end of the 1990's and may possibly have been on sale somewhere in the UK up to 2000, but can't be certain.1 point

I thought that too but upon further investigation 95RON is premium and is the EU standard quality of fuel sold on all EU forecourts. 97/98RON is super unleaded and not always available. Most modern cars can run on either grade but nothing lower.1 point
-
If thatโs what it says on the cap then Iโd say no, it wonโt be ok. Saying that I always thought โpremiumโ was 97RON and above, โnormalโ unleaded being 95RON1 point

Never in my days would I have thought there would have been so much paranoia about having Fiestas nicked and the weird and wonderful ways people will look to try to put extra security in place. ๐1 point

OK guys, it's been 'bodged' to a high standard.. I've put an additional switch on the dash just to prevent battery leakage, so hopefully this will suffice (fingers crossed) This amp / sub is much louder than I ever remember it, my cheapo dash cam cannot do it justice. The bass sounds awful on video but let me assure you it sounds the business. I've uploaded a quick 3 minute clip so you'll get the idea. You'll also get an indication of how bad our roads are around the town! I have to stay, although it's far from perfect, I am really enjoying driving with music again! Thanks to everybody who's helped me out, your help has really been appreciated! https://streamable.com/v3csr1 point

The wi-fi link does allow the database to recognise that all software is up to date. It's not currently useful for anything else. Sent from my SM-G965F (S9+)1 point

I gave the update site a couple of days to sort my details out and today I plucked up courage to check . Hey presto it says I'm all up to date so it's accepted my XML file for the map update. All in all it was simple enough it was just time consuming and a lot of crossed fingers, hair pulling and finger nail biting. What's happened to technology,, I thought we were supposed to be in the 21st century. I was a school IT technician for 21 years and still found it very stressful, if only Ford would rewrite the instructions and pay more attention.1 point

Ah I know that feeling. Whenever my mum tells my dad to take her shopping he always asks me to take her when us guys know we get bored to death going in clothes shops.1 point

I have always left it switched on in car anyway, I guess just in case. I think I'll turn it off as fed up closing the box that appears telling me it can connect to networks.1 point

I spoke with ford technical team and they asked to take to my local ford dealer to investigate and got an email address to send the details to if it is a software issue to good the charges. It is booked in for Tuesday as the earliest date. I had to explain everything and they weren't having any of it until I told them about the last recall and it running like a diesel and the battery going flat. She then said oh don't worry about contacting ford I know what it is. Having to jump start my car every day until then.1 point

ROFL, that's brilliant Lenny ๐คฃ Actually I was a little tired on my last message at silly o'clock, what I should of said was something like this: I had presumed that the ACM was controlling the main 12v live spade connector before it got to the radio. I had hoped it was a little plug'n'prey box and easily swapped out.. obviously not. So thinking about my issue, I'll need to trace where exactly that main 12v live comes from. I've got a wiring diagram but, to me, it's like the enigma machine. If anybody could read it for me and help me trace this wire backwards? I'm going to attempt to get it all 'bodge' working and see if I can find some ear defenders for my *****!! (Female dog)1 point

I've been listening to Magic in the mornings for a while when I'm in work, Ronan Keating and Harriet Scott are funny. Got a bit bored of the same old tunes though so switched to Heart a few weeks back and liking it so far.1 point

I felt really old watching the Brit's on Wednesday... Half of the artists were very young and unrecognisable and the other half seem to have been around for over a decade! I really don't like losing Absolute Radio 90's on DAB since their move though. I've tried retuning but the signal is no longer strong enough here.1 point

good to hear you have now sorted the air bag light out and was a easy fix in the end. look forward to seeing a update1 point

The continuous wipe when washer fluid is spayed is usually on a different track of the motor to the intermittent wipe which is why one works fine and the other doesn't. If it's the GEM you'll need to find another with an identical part number and then match it to your car with a laptop and Ford specific diags. Or pay Ford about ยฃ500 to fit a new one... Integrated GEM relays rarely fail though, if it had been an older car then it'd be more likely but not on these. I really would start with checking wiring and plugs, then swapping in a cheap, used motor if there are no wiring faults found.1 point

Same here. Recently been playing old rap music which would play on my old PS2 games. Also listened to ice cube and 2pac1 point

To be honest, I like the old school rap rather than the carp that is around now. Plus, it's 1Xtra on the way home in the evening rather than Radio 1 and the plonker that is Nick Grim ๐คข๐คฎ1 point

ACM (Audio Control Module) is the radio itself. The MK3 audiosystem basically consists of the following parts: *ACM (Audio Control module). *FCDIM (Display). *FCIM (Control panel). *Bluetooth/Voicecontrol module or APIM (SYNC) module (if present). These modules communicate by the CANbus system or LINbus network.1 point

Have a look at this. Seems quite easy to me and the part you need is available on Amazon for a lot less that matey in the video paid!!1 point

From my bit of research I've done, I need to replace my 8M5T-19G488-AK to a 8M5T-19C112-AN module and that should give me bluetooth streaming aswell as sorting my AUX and PHONE issues.1 point

Better than the weekly ones they advertise on TV. Latest one is the Bismarck. If you complete it then you'll pay out about ยฃ1200 for it. [emoji54] Sent from my SM-G965F (S9+)1 point

I understand feeling uncomfortable, but you do have rights if you bought from a dealer and the s/s was advertised as a feature but isn't working. Check the link below: https://www.which.co.uk/consumer-rights/advice/the-second-hand-car-i-bought-has-a-problem-what-are-my-rights Best of luck with it, and let us know how you get on,1 point

blind spots are always inevitable in a car of this size! SUV's are always going to be tricky, but it looks like it might be worth another read!1 point

Hmm I was afraid that somebody would say that.. so although I should now be able to get everything working again, it's basically going to be a bodge job ๐ Hmmm, just my luck...0 points
