  1. If you put nice thick layers of laquer on then give them a quick machine polish (if you have one of course) and they'll come out even more gleaming.

  3. I came across this video earlier this morning. It's the new Scooter track. The bonus is, there's a classic Ford in the video but I'm trying to work out which one it is.

  4. I have a 2011 titanium and i have permanent live off the rear wiper for my tracker,i put it onto piggy back fuse onto another cigi plug the side off glove box loose. I have also used a blank fuse hole for ignition live for my dash cams and run that onto a power Adapter with 5 outlets 3 x cigi and 2 x usb. And yes my car has the cigi hole permanent in the front but didn't want to use that up with a adapter sticking out of if. Did not want dash cam on permanent as battery drain as my car stands a lot for 3 days or more and had this issue before flat battery and to me no point.

  5. You really need to use a meter to test for 12v on one side of the fuse holder and whether or not its ignition switched or not. Ideally you only want ignition switched source. As current of dashcam is very low that won't really be a consideration that's why its often easier to just piggyback an existing fuse.

  6. On some models; when parked with the engine off & key out of the ignition; if you pull the stalk to flash the headlights; the headlights come on for a minute; This feature is designed to illuminate your driveway or door to assist you in the dark when exiting the vehicle

  7. Also got the AC regas whilst the headlights were off. Makes it easy for the guy to get to the pipe to top up the gas. He took out 0.110kg of gas when 0.520kg is what should be in there so was low. Feels noticeably cooler plus can smell that AC gas smell which I never really smelt before this year when I used it.

  9. I did see that but at the moment can't look at spending money on aftermarket stuff because I don't know how long I'll keep the car. If I was able to at least I'd get a standard map adding 30hp and 70nm. Was thinking later if I could get the 110hp injectors and turbo but wondering if its worth it for the price of those parts plus the performance gains. The gains are only 25 more horsepower compared to a standard map.

  11. Kind of a big thing but restored the headlights on the car. Never sanded before so was scared but managed to do it. Thanks to @TomsFocus and @Luke4efc for guidance 👍. The headlights weren't in a good state. They were hazy mainly from the top half and that obstructed a bit of light from the sidelight. The right headlight had a mark where someone had tried to restore it however gave up as you can see. Removed the headlights from the car This is the equipment used. Used this air powered DA type of device. Then started with one. Started with 1000 grit sandpaper. Then the next one. Managed to smoothen out that mark. Then moved to 3000 grit. Left had 3000 grit. Did make it a little clearer. Then sprayed clear coat on them. Finishing pictures. Looked a whole lot better than before just about looks new. On the car Topped up the PAS fluid also whilst the headlight was off for easier access. Its green just for anyone to know 👍

  12. Don't you just hate it when threads / advice does not show what the conclusion was. So here goes: Yipee! Car is now running again. Started by doing Ohm test on OBD socket. It showed 120 (so a break somewhere). I looked at the engine fuse box connector (c90) looked OK. Took the trim panel off just ahead of the front passenger door. There were two big block connectors here. A larger black one and a smaller grey one below it. The black one did not seem to have canbus (grey/red and blue/red thin wires) in it. The grey one did. There was some minor corrosion in the grey one. Cleaned it up. Ohms still showing 120. (this car is a mk2.5 so maybe different to what peter describes) back to c90 . whilst my brother watched the ohmeter i pulled c90 in and out and found that intermittently the ohms dropped to 60. I concentrated on the two pins for the canbus wires (grey/red and blue/red thin wires). they looked OK but ohms weren't steady. so what I did here was bent the two pins with thin nosed pliers into a slight curve to create more contact pressure. I also took the red plastic insert out of the bottom of the plug, then squashed the connectors a little and put red bit back in. After doing this the ohms seemed steady 60. But after putting tools away found car failed to start again and ohms back to 120. Now got to work on the grey connector ahead of passenger door again. Found contact intermittent here so gave those contacts same treatment as c90. car now seems OK (optimistic but it's only just been done and not had a long test). The contact cleaner I was using dries very quickly and leaves no residue. Would in be better if the terminals had something on them like vaseline/petroleum jelly applied sparingly? Thanks Peter, my brother was on the verge of towing the car to the scrapyard. Hope it keeps going fine, at least if it plays up again we have some idea of what to twiddle with at the roadside. If these connectors cause more trouble I think bypassing them with some long lengths of wire soldered on will give more confidence that it won't keep doing it.

  16. Cheers mate I'll have to take it down and check. I've been thinking that either battery is too low or it's over charging at the 2k mark. Or ground is loose

  17. Thanks Comares2001 & jace1969!! i took the liberty of checking each fuse slots to see which has Constant Power and which has ACC Power ... and hope this could help others. DISCLAIMER: Do piggy backing fuses at you own risk. I will not be held responsible if damage occurs. Use multimeters and Choose your fuse slots wisely!. O = Constant Power ( Power ON even tho ignition is OFF ) X = ACC Power ( Power turns On only when ignition is ON )

  18. haha, thanks for the reply guys, even if its gone a bit off topic. haha. I enabled traffic sign recognition using forscan and it showed up 2 blank circles where the speed signs would usually show, but thats it. doesn't pull the speed, so yeah need the camera. I've been looking into retro fitting the camera and found some good info on it, just too expensive for me to consider at this time. cheers all

  20. USB is a digital data connection. AUX is an analog audio connection. These are completely different. there is no way to convert an analog audio connection to a digital data connection. At least not without an enhanced electronic circuitry. It is however possible to connect a phone to the USB port and configure the phone to act as a mass storage device. This way the phone will be recognised by the audio system as a USB drive/harddisk and the (supported) music files on the phone storage can be selected and played on the audio system.

  21. Yes, sadly I've seen a few cases where people have taken it up on themselves to tidy and beautify their local area, only to find themselves prosecuted for their trouble. We do have (officially sanctioned) volunteers in my area who do a great job of picking up litter from the roadside and hedge rows. Unfortunately in my area we don't have a recycling bin as such, but 3 separate boxes for card/paper, bottles/jars, and cans/plastic bottles. These get thrown about by the bin men and on a breezy day paper and plastic bottles end up all over the place, to be picked up later by the volunteers.

  22. I tend to have a 6th sense for injuries and often go well over the top to avoid them but when I do injure myself it's usually something to do with a car! Think the worst one was probably the ratchet slipping off the crank pulley bolt while turning the engine over by hand after a belt change back around 5 years ago. The full force that I'd been putting into the crank, plus the weight of the ratchet handle mashed my thumb into the brake caliper, thick gloves probably saved me a broken thumb but it was ridiculously painful for days after and of course bruised immediately. Needless to say I now use a long bar and an extension to keep my hands well out of danger! The only other injury I regularly get is bashing my head on things that have been there for years...don't even know how it happens! Things like the garage door and the cooker hood...it's not like they've moved and I haven't grown any more for at least a decade lol.

  23. Locally a few window cleaners clean road signs in their spare time as a voluntary community service. This has been going on for a while without any apparent problems or complaints. Trimming the bushes may be a different matter as you would be "damaging" them and you don't own them. You may also need a waste carriers licence to remove the waste or be accused of fly tipping if you leave the waste below the bush. I have seen the local police trimming bushes around road signs (just before they set up a speed trap).

  26. My dad told me loads going back years as 91 now and was a builder so involved from bricks to scaffolding,so much for health and safety back then. He was Nealy a goner back in his 50's when he fell off a roof and i can remember but i was young, crawler was on roof and ladders against it and slid down roof as he was at the side and onto the grass on his back, missed concrete by a few feet or that would of been it and all i know there was only 2 ribs not broken and in a bad way and now here at 91. I praise the NHS for them days as they worked day and night on him.

  32. You're right, Tom. I was curious about this - just found an old road test report from 2011 which mentions driver assistance pack including what they referred to as "road sign reader"😀 Edit - stop press! The council have been "resurfacing" (tar and chippings method) the road I mentioned above. Just had a walk down there and found, after searching the bushes, they have taken the opportunity to sneakily move the speed limit (and the sign of course) 200 yards further down the road. And (I don't really need to say this do I?) they've placed it in another bush!

  33. Saved you the hassle. Try fuse 24, it should be 10 amps (diagram underneath). That controls both the bluetooth and Sync. Failing that try 21, which is the stereo.

  34. My partner just seen a car with 2 young lads drive up our no through road , stop outside our house , look through bushes at front of house looking through living room window. She was upstairs looking down seeing them . I'm in living room unaware with curtains open. They turned round, drove off and then came back again doing the same. Gone now. My partner came down to tell me. Either they want the TV or one of our cars? Keys hidden in metal boxes ( just incase a relay job on my keyfree Mondeo. ( But I have disabled that feature so it shouldn't be possible)
