  1. Crikey, guys - too much information here! Could someone start a separate thread for medical issues? Now, have I ever told you about my dodgy ticker..............?😀

  2. I get where you're coming from now. I thought the reference was to a fasten searbelt warning not a status message. Mate has a Clio and it has a light on the overhead console and a dash messsge showing the status of the rear belts. He buckles the rear belts even when empty to cut the dash message. 3. That's as it should be, Clive and I (and I'm sure Gary also) was not talking about the "no seat belt" warning. I certainly have no issue with visual and audible warning that belt(s) are not fastened. This Fiesta is however the the first car I've had that tells me in such an intrusive fashion that belts are fastened (no doubt because of legislation) but I find this unnecessary and distracting. Moan over!😀

  5. Either call in at your local Ford main dealer with the vin or reg and ask at the parts desk, or look for yourself on www.catcar.info, you'll need the vin for that also. You'll find it on a sticker on the driver's door pillar.

Restraint systems can trigger individually depending on the forces and direction of forces. Roll over bars can trigger independently from the rest of the airbags. New units required then the RCM will need resetting.( RCM can be reset a maximum of 5 times) I had an accident in a customer's car a few years ago and the seat belt pretenioners went off withe the knee air bag. The rest of the airbags didn't deploy.

  9. The codes mean nothing. They usually come from manufacture when modules are fitted and activated out of order so throw mostly 'lost communication' codes. Get a code reader, delete the messages and then see if any others pop up at a later date. Sent from my SM-G965F using Tapatalk

  12. You can still get them , but new they are £225. Plenty of new ones listed on eBay. 1697486 is the ford part number I believe.

  13. Not sure now without getting to my laptop. Will post it later. Pretty sure it is as I put in the write up a few pages ago but will confirm it for you later when I don't have a 2 year old clambering all over me 🙂

  14. Exactly 🙂 I always thought the cluster warning message requiring the OK press was not removable. Having re-read the OP I think I mis-understood and it's relating to the warning icon, not the message.

  15. As you said, gurgling is probably bowels just moving due to bladder emptying, I get the same and I also get cramping when I've not been to the toilet (for a wee) for a long time! Ingrown toenails are a bugger! Cancerous lump under your rib? You're not talking about your xiphoid process are you?
    1 point
  16. Lol...I also get a weird smell after a period of very high anxiety...can't work out what it is but it irritates the bladder as well, even if there's not much there. I've wondered if excess adrenaline can end up in there maybe... What really worries me lately is this very loud gurgling on the lower left hand side at the same time as passing large amounts of urine, can be any time of day or night but has only started in the last 2 years. I can feel it being 'retained' beforehand as well. Gurgling only comes from air movement (like a poorly bled vehicle cooling system!) and there shouldn't be any air in that side of things!! 😮 I'm trying to convince myself it's just bowels moving after being 'restricted' by the bladder pushing on them. All the other IBS related gurgling moves around though, whereas this one's always in the same place. The reason I'm so worried about urine is because I used to go all day through school without being able to use the loo or drink anything...and I'd have to make sure I was empty before leaving in the morning. I know that's a surefire way to cause kidney problems in later life! Health anxiety sucks though, as it all seems so real to me that I can never work out what I should be genuinely concerned about and what I should ignore. So far just in the last week I've managed to convince myself of: kidney stones, tape worm, gout, root canal, cavities, periodontal disease, gum disease, brain tumor, diabetes, chrons, cut infection, stomach ulcer, flu, thyroid fault, arthritis, sinusitus, tonsillitis, gall stones, colon cancer, appendicitis, random cancerous lump under rib, ingrown toenail and sciatica... Obviously I couldn't possibly ask the Dr about everything because I'd be there every day!! Not that I can get in there at anyway due to contamination OCD lol. I've tried easing yen in slowly with a few things at a time but that doesn't seem to have worked anyway... Although I accept I'm my own worst enemy here as I can't have a lot of the tests done that they'd want to do.

  17. I think can see where you're going with this Gary! I'm ok with getting a warning to say a belt is not fastened, but wouldn't mind getting rid of the one that says it is!😀

  18. My GP('s...I'm on number 4 now) don't even look at my own record before doing or saying anything so I wouldn't expect them to bother checking someone else's!! I've had to send a clear & firm written letter confirming things I've already tried to explain several times over the last 4 years now... I know I can't explain myself clearly in person but don't know how they're still failing to understand things written down! I keep worrying about diabetes and kidney problems myself, particularly this year as I seem to be having random periods of frequent, urgent urination that I can't explain. GP isn't interested though, didn't even want to waste the money on a urine test when I asked about it. Just told me it was probably anxiety... Does your son get nervous at school and around in social situations at all? That might explain why he's only having accidents at school rather than at home. As Zain says, surely a sugary breakfast cereal would cause sugar in a urine test anyway. Hopefully he's alright and it's nothing to worry about in the end.

  19. PCM is Ford speak for the ECU, also now called ECM sometimes. It is in front of the left front wheel, behind the wheel arch liner, but it has a security bolt to make access hard! IC is the Instrument Cluster, Dash or Clocks. FACM is Fuel Additive Control Module, for the Eolys system for the DPF. GEM or BCM or PJB are names for the passenger fuse box under the glove box in the Focus. I advise clearing the codes, now they have been logged, and see what comes back and when. It might help to see how intermittent the problem is. It must be intermittent, a fully broken HS-CAN bus will prevent the car starting, with PATS flash code 16. You did have one immobiliser DTC, which is very much linked to CAN bus problems. The HS CAN bus winds it way around the car, from IC, via FACM under the back seat, into the engine bay, to at least the ABS and steering, before finishing at the PCM. So there is plenty of scope for problems, sadly. I think I posted a more detailed list in that thread I linked to. But my first port of call would be those two connectors by the passenger door. You might be lucky and that is all it is.

  20. Yeah, they make it a bit harder to ride a bike nowadays. When I started it was just provisional licence and off you went!😀 The original Z650 was something I lusted after back then, but needed a car for work and couldn't afford both (couldn't really afford either then, tbh!), so that was bikes over for a while. When I got back into it years later I did some refresher training first and then started with a GPZ500S.

  21. Modern version. Only passed DAS in august so got a z650 to begin with...will probs end up with the z900 or z1000 in a few years.

  22. @Lenny only assumption I could make with the doctors giving that suggestion to your son is the polyuria. Does he go toilet in the morning before school? Does he ask the teacher / know how to go himself to the school toilets? There's more symptoms other than frequent urination to say someone has diabetes. Is type 1 diabetes inhereted in the family? Do you know what tests they did when your wife took him?

  23. Thanks a lot Peter for that info mate, really appreciate it. Going to have a long research into this today, I need to update my vocabulary, not even sure what a PCM or IC is lol once I understand all that hopefully it will be easier for me to follow. Great stuff feel like maybe I can tackle this. Thanks again. Matt :)

  24. I don't like doctors as in our local GP making unrationl (there may be a better term to describe but I've only had 4hrs sleep tonight) over the top decisions which has put my wife up the walls as she suffers from anxiety, Where do I start now; Our son started playschool last month; we would have gotten it for free had we put him in last year but we kept him at home for an extra year because he is the youngest and wanted him to be 5 starting national school; so I'm paying €70 a week for him to attend this year where others are on the free, Some whom know we well here will remember; when he was born he contracted pneumonia in his right lung; spent alot of time in hospital and we almost lost him; he then got MRSA while in a quarantine unit 🤷‍♂️ and was sent home that Christmas with MRSA and pneumonia in the left lung having cleared it from his right lung, and was on antibiotics which baby's dont be on unless its extremely necessary; My wife's anxiety showed it's full power back then which was understandable and she wouldn't ever let him out of her arms for more than a nappy or change of clothes, it was the toughest time of both our lives and potentially his too. Hes thankfully made a full recovery from both conditions and five years on hes a strong, fun, energetic healthy boy hes great crack; Recently hes been starting to have a few toilet accidents at school where he forgets to go; which only happen in playschool, three times in the past two weeks; although when hes at home hes fine no accidents, On the first occasion we asked him as always; in the nicest way possible; how did it happen or why did he think it happened; and his response was that they were all outside playing and the teacher had the door locked he couldn't get in to use the toilet, This guy doesn't lye hes good as absolute gold, his sister lyes alot but this lad is 100% Turns out there's two sets of French doors identical leading to two sides of the class room and the poor lad was trying to open the wrong set, Anyway; twice since then hes had accidents and doesn't know why just happened, we didn't continue questioning as he instantly began to get disappointed with himself and it's not his fault hes a really good lad. Wife took him to the doctor local GP to see if he had a kidney infection; thankfully all clear but yesterday she got a call from hospital to say the GP had referred our son for an emergency appointment for a full examination because they think he may be diabetic 😟 Doesn't make sense to me, and I understand there only taking precautions but they don't realise that its putting my wife back in to a children's ward where she had to sleep on a foam mattress in quarantine with our son and suffered a nervous breakdown five years ago; her anxiety hasn't been high in the past few years and now has to go back in to the fire bringing up old memories, smells and places aswell as seeing other people where we once were, She wont let me take him myself; and says she is stronger now as is he; but I really dont want a relapse and I hate to think theres anything wrong with him atall, Overall he is going to the best place as hs wouldn't be here without those really gifted people in the hospital and I thank them for that, just the GP should really study the wifes medical history before phoning to tell her he has made an emergency appointment; The word emergency didn't need to be mentioned there atall considering she suffers anxiety. Anyway rant over 😅 I'm going to try sleep now again, nervous about what's on the horizon for both of them meanwhile I'm working six days per week. Suppose we think he have it tough until things get tougher.

  25. I think its all subjective tbh. For example i had a 1.8tdci mk2 focus. Followed by a 1.6tdci mk3 and now the 1.0 ecoboost st line mk4...essentially i find it really quiet and smooth but again thats probably me going from diesel to petrol...tell you what tho took it down a curvey country lane covered in mud...put it in sport mode and turned TC off...the car came to life...got to the other end with a grin on my face like the cheshire cat...just like when i take my z650 out.

  26. They are all electrical wiring faults, most probably a fault in the HS-CAN bus. There is no evidence there at all of any failures of individual parts, it is all interconnection faults. Bad comms and wrong voltages. For example, the clutch switch and brake switch do not go into the PCM on the Focus, they go into the IC, and get to the PCM over the bus. There is a FACM MIL request (to put the light on) in the PCM, and no corresponding real error in the FACM, Just a bus error and odd battery voltage error. The throttle pedal has two outputs, one direct to the PCM, and one to the IC, which again goes over the bus to the PCM. If your car was 2006, I would say it was definitely the IC that was the cause. But on 2008/9 cars, it seems to be more likely to be the wiring. Two connectors in front of the passenger door are particularly vulnerable to bad connections. Having said that, I would check the battery and charging system as well, dodgy, high resistance batteries and alternators with a failed phase can create all sorts of odd or noisy voltages, which upsets most of the electronics. But my money (all 50p anyway!) is still on a HS-CAN bus fault. A bit (well rather too much maybe) on the connectors & HS-CAN bus is here: If you then jump to the end of that thread, it did seem to be one of those two connectors, though only after following more red herrings than in most of the Atlantic! The IC test mode codes originally posted do have a meaning, they are the U1900 and U2510 codes that Forscan found in the IC. But it is a very limited test, only IC codes and maybe some OBD codes show up in it. Forscan is far more powerful.

  28. I've a Focus St Line X and I can't say the road noise is any loader than any other car I've driven. If anything I believe it's quitter. Always difficult when reading comments on Facebook, for example, as people only seem to, generally, post when they've a problem with the car. I certainly got concern about the amount of negative comments when first bought mine but 10 months later I've not had a single issue...

  30. First post on this forum :) Thought I'd start a thread for misfire problems since it's a common one for mark 2s. Got my car a few months ago, and developed a misfire code on cylinder one (P301). Coil pack, leads and spark plugs all replaced but no luck. Dried out the inside of the cylinders, still to no luck. Noticed every time I sprayed the windows the car would misfire again- so bought a Volvo engine cover from eBay for £30 and it seems to have solved it. No more misfires! Here's where I got the cover: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Ford-Focus-Water-Leak-Mod-1-4-1-6-Zetec-Genuine-Volvo-Engine-Cover-30650468/183871760090?epid=725305405&hash=item2acf9c66da:g:K1YAAOSwz~JdPu3p The Volvo 1.6s share the same engines as the Focuses, so it fits perfectly and keeps water out! Hope this helps for anyone with the same headache.

  31. Went into Fords today. They diagnosed the fault as a rodent having a rear brake sensor as a handy snack. Obviously the cause of the brake system errors and driving the associated computer nuts. Easy fix once the parts are in, but does show how modern cars really are laptops on wheels.

  32. New car, new wax. I used to use ArmorAll Shield that needed an application sponge, now I've seen the light and bought a spray on wax, I was going with Meguiar's Quik Wax until I saw Turtle Wax's Hybrid Sealant Wax (ICE in US), it's got good results, tended to last longer and was cheaper. https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07N6DV49P Photo is 8 days since application.
