The top right button with a speedo symbol is actually cruise control. The one with only ‘lim’ is only a speed limiter and not cruise control. It’ll only stop you going over a set speed and you’ll have to keep your foot on the accelerator. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk2 points

I don't like being an idiot been driving my Mondeo tdci for years, so I thought i'll change the fuel filter myself. Great job done except I can't reprime the system thing. Tried with a sypon pump (gloried hand pump thing with a tube hole each) useless, so now I've to wait till Tuesday to get a fuel priming pump thingy from ecp. Just in case I've book a mobile mechanic for Wednesday. Yeah diesel are a pain to work on. Any of you near Farnborough 🤣 idiot needs help. Shame about my hand pump, works brilliantly for oil changes, why won't it work here?2 points

Hey buddy, have you driven round the coast from Newtownards to Ballyhalbert? There are 100s of eejits that do that single windy road as if they're on a death wish, often overtaking on so many numerous blind spots. My 'secret' of 40 years driving with no accidents, is simply to treat every other driver as a moron, keep out of their way, and get home safely LOL 🤣2 points

I do like that the sky is clear tonight so I can see the stars. I also like that it's clear enough to see the space station pass over (which it just did) so I can try and get a few pics of it flying over later this morning (in about 1h 30m).2 points

She scared him pretty well. Scrot was crying and begging not to be cuffed. As if - he was driving a POS with no insurance or tax and on a tag too. Sent from my SM-G965F using Tapatalk2 points

It won’t let you get into 1st if you’re going too fast for the gear. 1.25L would be a diesel right? 1st gear in a diesel is really just for setting off from stationary.1 point

Can't forget this weird concept thing from 2014, no idea on the context of any of it but looking at it now, it kinda was ahead of its time, as weird as it may look. 😅1 point

Ahh! I must have misunderstood. I thought they all came with Cruise Control as standard.1 point

After all the money we've spent on trying to prop up our economy during the coronavirus situation, our pound will probably achieve parity with yours before long!😃1 point

That's quite impressive, and worth knowing. The only advantage to me that I can see in MHEV is that on Fords (for now) they can be had as a manual, which I prefer. If they go auto only on MHEV (VW group already have, I believe) I may as well go to a full hybrid anyway. I wonder if anyone can comment from experience? Afaik, on a full hybrid it would probably just run on the petrol, no doubt with lots of flashing lights and noises to tell you to do something about the battery. A family round the corner from me has had nothing but Toyota hybrids for the last 20 years but afaik nothing's ever gone wrong so I can't ask them! Dunno about an MHEV, though. As, in theory, the battery is there to help the engine at low revs, I guess it might feel a bit weak until the turbo kicks in?1 point

First service for my 2019 mk8 fiesta at ford dealer here in Egypt costs around 2000 Egyptian pounds, that's about 100 British pounds 🙂1 point

Try driving in Greece, Turkey or India. They seem to have no rules whatsoever. [emoji2] Sent from my SM-G965F using Tapatalk1 point

I was looking at a T Roc ( R- Line) before we decided to stick with the Focus and IIRC the salesman told me that there wasn't a heated screen option but VW had there own version where it stores the heat from previous usage and thats what defrosts the windscreen on a cold morning but he didnt have an answer when I said but what if the cars not been used for a few days. 🙄1 point

I'm just another random guy on the internet who believes the manufacturers do compromise on engine life because they have other agendas to meet, fuel economy / emissions etc and that their choice of oil is never about maximum engine life. Personally in an ecoboost 1.0L / 1.5L and 1.6 (not so ecoboost...) engines id be looking at an API-SN+ / Dexos 1 Gen 2 oils, either 5W/20 or 5W/30. I'm a big fan of Shell "PurePlus" oils. If you are not sure stick to the manual recommendation and use any oil that meets the ford spec.1 point

I would like to disassociate myself (coming from Ireland), from the comments of the OP towards 'English' drivers LOL I also speak as someone with a RoSPA class 1 driving test, and a member of the Institute of Advanced Motorists. Like I said, my strategy is to keep away from all drivers, no matter what nationality they are 😁1 point

as for courtesy, virtually all UK drivers are arrogant, selfish, useless drivers, with a belief they will drive faster than anyone else. However it comes with a complete inability to perform at such levels, and thus they clog up the outside lane, driving badly and getting in the way... sadly its unknow to self, but their subconscious is clearly aware they shouldn't have a licence (hence the person's conflicted incompetence) As for a Irishman suggesting we drive fast.... that's got to be saved for 1 April ?1 point

I don't like that I've not managed to see this comet yet (Neowise) despite the clear weather. I must be facing the wrong way so might have to venture outside before dawn to try and see it.1 point

I spent yesterday evening touching up the stone chips and scratches on the paintwork with a frozen white touch up pen. They're not perfect, but they're a lot better and aren't noticeable anymore. This was the worst But this is the best I could do White paint is so forgiving. I gave the car a thorough clean, more on the side of a partial detail, using detail brushes for all the tiny areas inside and outside of the body work. It's looking fantastic now: I've just come back from driving to West Wales and back, so over two hours each way. It performed lovely, with the adaptive cruise control being outstanding. Just waiting for Monday when I can install the RimBlades on the wheels, and then paint the brakes silver (fronts) and black (rears), then cosmetically it's finished.1 point

Regarding the driving in England, I have noticed since lockdown was eased that a lot of people seem to have forgotten how to drive safely and be courteous. I like to drive a bit fast myself but some drivers just don't seem to be paying attention to the other drivers on the road.1 point

what a little POS. Hope the judge throws the book at him. Unlikely that'll happen though and you or your colleagues will see the same person again in a few weeks in another POS car with no insurance tax or licence.1 point

Thankfully things seem to be going back to normal. Yesterday went and got a haircut after 4 months. There was only 1 customer there so no waiting around 😁. They put barriers between each chair and the staff wore masks and gloves. Did also start getting takeaway also which I've missed1 point

I do like going out to the chippy today for the first time since just before the lockdown began in the UK. I thoroughly enjoyed my fish and chips with proper chippy mushy peas and curry sauce. I also like that it was quiet and they have strict social distancing measures in place.1 point

How long should s set of brake pads last? I've been doing oil change and tyres on the car myself the past four years, I've not ever touched the brakes in five years; when I had EBC greenstuff pads and cross drilled discs fitted that was five years ago. And around 120,000km ago. Well today I heard some serious grinding when i pressed the brakes and it took two car lengths to stop after i jammed on the brakes; I could hear and feel the ABS but it's gone in to the garage to have the brakes done, Car now has 327,000km I have it since new in 2010 and I can only remember changing the pads three times and the discs once as I wanted the cross drilled fitted. Not bad going atall; its also a 1.6TDCi on the factory turbo 👍 I'm expecting to require a new caliper and discs tomorrow 😂 not sure what its using to slow the car down these days; worst result of upgrading the sound system to full JL Audio C3 650's with amplifier #TurnDownForWhat I get in the car; turn on spotify and turn it up to the point that I cant even hear the engine; so the brakes could have been grinding for quite some time.1 point

300mm discs were generally fitted to 1.8 litre and above. Smaller engines have 278mm. But yes, never trust anyone, especially online! Oh wait...1 point

I don't like that I had trouble sleeping last night. Probably had 2-3 hours sleep. Just felt anger inside me about what happened yesterday along with the feeling of adrenaline.0 points
