hi, if you take out the glovebox which are the Torx screws inside the glovebox door; 3 top and three bottom theirs an earth bolt inside there above the glove box, the glove box just slides out when you remove the six torx screws and you can route the cables tidy in the back or side of the box. alternatively the plastic passenger door sill, lift that and theres an earth on the inside of the door sill metal frame work. the first one i mentioned there is as saw in my guide here: my full list of guides are here if interested: https://www.fordownersclub.com/forums/topic/68214-full-list-lennys-guides/2 points

The answer to all of your questions are answered in this video.... the stock wiring will be fine and the stock radio will sound better, well, I've no experience of Caliber speakers but generally any new speakers are better than the rubbish stock ones.2 points

Success, Edge returned this evening complete with new tailgate and trim, looks good. As a bonus Sync updated itself to 3.4 whilst sitting on the driveway. It's been a long 8 weeks.2 points

I've been searching for some help on this but can't find any exact matches. I have a mk2.5 2009 Zetec petrol and I have a fuse piggy back thing to get power to my dash cam. The problem is I'm really struggling to find ground and I don't really want to pull off panels haphazardly and potentially do damage to them, any tips?1 point

I suppose, but the BMW would've cost twice as much. At a guess it could be a MAP sensor issue. Maybe try giving it a clean.1 point

I know this sounds a stupid question, but we are talking Ford . The maps files Alex has download and put a link up are for his Mk4 Focus ST 2.3 EcoBoost , I'm correct in presuming they'll be the same for EVERY model of Mk4 Focus. As I said sounds a stupid question, but with some getting the calm screen ad others not, you just never know.1 point

Mate, the ford uk site will let you download the sync3.4 . After downloading onto a usb stick it’ll uploade in around 23 mins. Then it’ll tell you ..your software is now up to date and there is a map update ready. When you click on that it’ll tell you “you’re up to date , no action required “. unless you’re one of the chosen few , then you’ll get the F9 map update button.1 point

There’s also a downgrade failsafe back to 3.3 if it doesn’t work ok. I used one of the ‘bad’ versions that although was playing from USB, after about 2 minutes the display switched to radio, did a downgrade, then updated to a ‘good’ version of 3.4. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Pro1 point

Wow. . Thanks to you both for a helpful and super quick reply! 👍1 point

Hey, I've recently purchased a Kuga ST-Line Edition 2019 AWD 1.5 Turbo Petrol EcoBoost Auto 180bhp - Magnetic Grey Adaptive Headlights + Technology Pack - Family Pack - Winter Pack Hoping to learn and help on here 😃1 point

Yep as above and its upto yourself here is a simplified video it's very easy to do.1 point

You shouldn't need a Ball Joint Separator for these cars. The last time I did one I was surprised how easy it came apart with just a hefty Tyre Lever. Failing that then a few blows with a hammer should work ok.1 point

As far as I'm aware, they are all the same, just some (most?) Aren't being offered the F9 maps on the Ford website after installing SYNC 3.4.1 point

I have an LX buddy, the only thing in my glove box is the handbook, and a pack of Werther's Originals LOL 🤣1 point

It will probably be quicker updating via WiFi than waiting for Ford. Just keep checking it throughout the day.1 point

I had a update come through today on WiFi in the car but I got a update through the ford site for maps straight away when updated to 3.4 and I unzipped to usb stick it was 21gb think I will install it tomorrow1 point

Bluetooth music already downloaded from Apple Music skipping sometimes . Noticed it before getting 3.4 so can rule that out. Its 1 second skips , quite annoying. Don’t have any other apps etc running. Have realised power button off and on sorts it. No soft reset required. Had the car a year , only had this last week or two.1 point

I'd be checking the sealing of the heater air intake to the engine bay by now. The smell is oily. Does that give you a clue?1 point

Hi Andy. Nope, not been presented any updates on Ford website since doing the main Sync Update. So I checked the scan for updates and it’s all Down loading one at a time. So I just keep going now. Already a way in after 7 hours1 point

Thanks for all your replies, not had chance to change it yet but will keep you posted for future reference.1 point

Yes, My company has worked all through it, being key workers. Despite the current difficulties, we have remained polite to our customers and been as helpful as we could be. Rather like the chap in Ringwood who has a fob in stock and will supply it with the key cut and programmed to the car for £145 tomorrow morning.1 point

Your spot on, its silk as i did want a little shine to it, ceiling only took one good coat is it was white anyway. I gave it a quick first coat and then sanded a bit more of the few holes i filled, it's never going to be A1 but a good cover to make it nice a bright and fresher and looks ok does me. I will give the 2 big walls 3 coats and leave it dry and see how it is, its getting there as 1 wall had 1 coat and other 2 and you can see its getting there. To be honest its trial and error as first time i ever done anything like this, dad passed away 8 weeks ago just trying out one bedroom as all here on my own. Last thing is a cheap carpet after painting done but going to keep not a lot in there once done as i have cleaned a lot out.1 point

No worries, that's what the forum's here for! For future reference, the timing belt is almost always covered so you'd never see it. The auxiliary belt (aka drivebelt, accessory belt, alternator belt, fan belt) is the one you can see that runs the alternator and air con pump. They only cost about £20 and are super easy to change so very different to a timing belt.1 point

So I’m down loading 1U5T-14G424-BJ now, which is showing a 2KB to you. But is taking a while on mine, so I’m not sure if the file is bigger or what. but will let you know how it goes and what the next one is. But since I downloaded the 1U5T-14G421-BAG I’m car is now showing as I have F9 Maps1 point

Have you got the right hole? Sounds like you might have the foot vent instead of the recirculate intake? Alternatively, don't use recirculate and just spray into the empty space where the pollen filter was if you're removing it anyway. You want the fan on the minimum speed so it's got a chance to settle on the internal surafces, at full speed it'll just blow straight through and out of the vents without touching the sides.1 point
-
I did. Just don't send them a logfile and disable WiFi updates in your car then you'll also see the Ford website update sometime in the next century.1 point

Hi, sorry for the random quote boxes, I couldn't delete them! So the factory wiper blades don't come with the wear indicators on but all of the replacement ones you buy do. They are located on the tips of blades, you can't miss them. To replace simply lift your wiper arm up and press the button on the blade to unlock it, then slide it out of the arm. To fit the new ones it's basically the same in reverse, make sure you hear it it click to know it's locked in place. Be careful of the arm when you take the wiper off as this can crack the windscreen if it springs back down. Best off placing it down gently on the screen until you're ready with the new blade1 point

Also if you haven’t already done. Check with a multimeter which fuse only supplies voltage when the ignition is turned on. Otherwise your radio will be on constantly - not good if you forget it’s on and the next morning you come to a dead battery.1 point

@simps100 you need to take a 12V supply to the red cable on the new ISO harnass. Typically Red is 12V+, black is ground and yellow is also 12V but constant 12V. Just confirm what cable is what with your instruction manual for your new stereo head unit. You’ll more than likely find you have no spare fuses holders left, so Halfords do a doubler you can plug in that can take 2 fuses. Then take a flying lead to your new harness.1 point

Thanks for your vote of confidence. A lot of those idiots who drive at ridiculous speeds on the motorway finish up with a ban. As for smart motorways, they didn't exist in my day so I have no experience of policing them but, as a driver, I refuse to use them as I think that they are dangerous. Get a breakdown or a puncture and you've nowhere to go other than sit in a live lane and wait for someone to run into the back of you. My advice in that case would be to get out of the car and as far away as possible. The death rate on smart motorways per mile is well above that of normal motorways. ( https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2020/mar/12/government-smart-motorways-safety-hard-shoulder ) I live in Nottingham 5 minutes from J26 of the M1 and my son lives in Leeds so the M1 would be very convenient. The smart motorway starts at J28 and on the one occasion I used it the red X came on over the inside lane together with the speed limit sign indicating 50mph.. I pulled into lane 2 and slowed to 50 only to be overtaken on the inside by a number of lorries; mostly with foreign registrations. There was a car broken down in lane 1 and how there wasn't an accident as I was approaching it I'll never know. There were vehicles swerving all over the place. I now go up the A1. Incidentally, you should never go onto a motorway if you're low on fuel.1 point
