You've been unlucky, bonnet releases have only been around for about 100 years, so Ford are still trying to develop a system that works. There's a whole design team working flat out on it. Normally, they last at least 10 years before breaking! 🤣4 points

I wouldn't worry too much unless it happens again. Modern cars are basically computers and will glitch. The other day my right front speaker just didn't work on starting the car. I had to switch off completely, lock up and start again to get it to work.4 points

I do like that after this Christmas everyone will have experienced an awkward Christmas in there lives; Meaning myself and plenty of others will no longer feel unique for not really enjoying the season 100% as other years family which could be there didn't want to be; this year they most likely won't be able to be there either way. Which is easier and everyone understands the feeling of absence at a time where the media hypes it up with the impression that all families come together and get along all of the time. All said though; Christmas is a very important time for children everywhere; Every family in the world has been affected by covid19 in some way this year; hard working people have been stopped working aswell as those always seeking employment, people won't ask for help and kids will be writing there dreams to Santa, Santa needs to wear superman's Cape this year to help ease the impact of covid19 in the homes of children which will also help mental health and future development as it is very important to know that Santa understands and cares, Personally; I'm lucky to have maintained employment throughout the pandemic as I'm manufacturing active pharmaceutical ingredients and were lucky to be manufacturing some of those which are being used in the development of vaccines, However myself and my family are not immune from covid19 or its impact; I've had to prepare the home with an additional computer and two desks to facilitate our three kids learning from home, aswell as providing good quality Personal protective equipment, I have a mortgage and the usual bills associated with family, However this year rather than treating myself to some designer cloths or a new gadget I'm donating €700 worth of toys to a local toy bank; for distribution to families in the local area. Few popular examples: LOL, fail fix dolls, Rainbow High dolls, hot wheels monster jam, Lego, nerf guns, playdough, And I'm writing this message to those whom perhaps don't have any kids themselves; in which case they may not think of doing such thing; I don't donate money as it may not reach the target; I'm encouraging everyone to purchase some toys and donate them to the Christmas toy collection box in your local supermarket or toy shop; They will then be bagged and delivered to hard working families which have found themselves in need for the first time in there lives through no fault of there own in your community. Thought I'd share the idea, I have my three kids involved; I've told them: when the toy banks start; were going to the shop to fill a trolley and help Santa because some elves are in self isolation this year; as result they can't go to the shops for santa to gather orders, so we're going to fill a trolley and put it in the shipping box which then goes to Santa's warehouse for processing to the order lists, I'll pay in the shop with my bank card and send Santa a picture of the reciept; he then refunds my bank account, Thanks for reading; help future generations from some of the covid19 impact if you can.3 points

😃😃😃 Quite impressed on how long that ran for! Took me longer to remove the drum the normal way 😆 mind you it took me even longer to get the steel drum away from the plastic drum! Looked like the plastic was moulded onto the shaft and had to be cut away with an angle grinder!2 points

No. It connects for (I think) half hour or so when I park , then disconnects itself. So if it is half hour limit each time I come home I’ll have F9 maps by Christmas! I’m hoping the download via FordPass app will save the day. Only reservation I have about Alexp download is ford maybe haven’t made it available to download from their website for a reason. I’m in no hurry. Got F8 already.1 point

You can find more detailed information about your map version in Sync’s diagnostic mode. To enter diagnostic mode the ignition has to be on or engine running. The radio has to be on and the audio tab fullscreen. Then press and hold the power and skip back buttons for a few seconds. Diagnostic mode will start with a speaker test, press the end test button and you will be on the Bezel Diagnostics screen. Select APIM > IVSU Versions. There will be a list of six files here. These are: 1. Sync app version. 2. Voice recognition version. 3. Gracenote version. 4. Map version. 5. Navigation Voice version. 6. DAB logo version. I am on the September 2020 release of F9 maps, ending BAG. The earlier F9 version ends BAF. This is how my IVSU Versions screen looks...1 point

Someone else on this forum had a similar problem and it seems that the cables on some of the MK4's can stretch and need replaced. Your warranty should cover it.1 point

probably photoshop picture. The car i bought from main dealer had petrol filler on both sides of the car in pictures advertising it. Thought better value for money lol. Dealer had sent me a video of car and that was fine was thinking about complaining as extra cap would of been cool could of filled up twice as fast.1 point

Ouch ok will stay well away. Trying to tempt her into the 1.6 petrol one. Ecoboost was what I was thinking of but might be a stretch for her. Doesn't help that looking around, the southwest seems a lot more expensive than other regions for second hand cars Thanks all1 point

fitted to sell more cars use of this feature severely wears the engine, alternator and battery. It also increases the risk of accidents / our safety at junctions (but again those incidents would sell more cars too). The environmental damage of using this stupid feature - due to repairs, replacement cars and engines and medical treatment - is probably well over a 1000 times the benefit people think it brings. knowledgeable owners have it switched off permanently in software - it is probably the single most wanted thing changed in software across any brand of car worldwide. one airliner taking off, puts out more pollution than this saves for every car in the UK for the whole year1 point

good purchase I own what is commonly regarded as the best car in the world... when new it cost 110k (not by me, has 60 k miles on it and is still visually like new), it is the biggest pile of ***** I ever owned, it has the most uncomfortable seats known to man, heated, vented, massaging, multi contour, active rubbish that gives me shoulder cramps and back ache for a week after a long trip. Its ride and handling is a sick joke, its just appalling. And even more alarmingly, it is the most unreliable costly wreck I ever worked on. I also have a Mk 2 focus worth about 1k, its done 3 times the mileage of the Merc, it is an utter pleasure to drive, very reliable, the ride and handling is fantastic, its comfort infinitely better, with incredible seats for what it is. Its even designed with more thought, by obviously better engineers. Simple stuff like waiting for the water to land on the screen before scratching it. Its way nicer to sit in and drive than the other wreck, and if I were the judge "more than 100 times better than the best car in the world". Two thing are wrong with the focus... I have to change gear.... and the retarded high beam switch is offensive. It takes more effort and longer (meaning you dazzle others) to flash the lights to dip, than to flick away (like normal cars) - why did they get that so VERY wrong? It is literally the one bit that would stop me buying another1 point

doesn't sound like its your issue but speakers dying is normal... first car I ever heard of where this is a design feature. on mine right rear went at 9 years, left rear went at 11 years.... no issues ever, no funny noises, no abuse, just stopped dead ! Swap for second hand ones no problem ever again.... I forget which, but the good ones and the dead ones look identical with one exception. I think the silver anodised speaker shell dies and the gold colour ones keep going The colour probably identifies UK mkt stitch them up build quality... (other markets get faults fixed by the dirty cheating manufactures, but in the UK mugs keep giving away money they don't have, and it encourages scum to rip us off even more).1 point

Good question, your screenshot implies that you can get updates via the Ford Pass app but I’m not sure.🤔1 point

Being Irish also means every km was driven while being fully under the influence of alcohol #FullTilt 😅 😂 Well I can't afford to replace it at the moment; bank wouldn't lend me a pen and I got sucked in to home improvements a few years ago which I really need to get completed before my eldest is looking to bring people home 😂1 point

Stop start uses the normal 12v battery. Some models are now going mild hybrid which uses a second 48v battery.1 point

When I did my wet belt also did the water pump as well. When changing the cam belt, inspect and replace the gasket at the fuel pump as well. In the half full glass add some ice cubes and say 'cheers'!!! This is the best one.1 point

Back in the late 60s I was walking the touchline at Nottingham Forest FC when a youth spat at me. I knocked him out and the crowd applauded. Think it might have a different response nowadays?1 point

Just had some very good news. Spoke to the insurance assessor who offered my £10,800 which I was happy to accept. The new car will now definitely be a Fiesta Vignale.1 point

It would be easier to find an ST bumper, the lower side pieces on your bumper need swapping to the later style the ST uses.1 point

Steve, Ian, you were spot on, Ford have today confirmed it is the fuel filter!! Fingers crossed it'll be back by the weekend for me1 point
-
No problem Jody. Yes, replacing the filter sorted it out each time. As Ian said, the Ford dealer said that the filter should be changed every 37.5k miles, but they recommended every year. The cost was £100 to buy and install the fuel filter, but they recommended that I had a major Motorcraft 4+ service every year which includes a fuel filter change and only costs £195. http://www.busseys.co.uk/ford/servicing/motorcraft-4-years/1 point

Hi all Finally picked up my 12-plate Focus Titanium 1.6 diesel (59k) on Thursday last week, but have returned it to dealer tonight for "repair" and the dreaded "Engine Malfunction - Service Now" message came up yesterday. Now the problem seems to be that when I hit 3000rpm in 3rd and 4th gears the EM message appears and it goes into "limp-home" mode. I called the AA out, but the error is resetting itself immediately, so no codes readable! After eventually replicating the problem the AA bloke finally came up with P228C - Low Fuel Pressure and P165C - Electronic Thermostat. The car was/is OK to drive below 3000rpm, but for a car I've just paid for its not acceptable. Has anyone else had this problem? I've read that it could be something to do with the glow plug relay, others say the turbo, I've also seen the DPF mentioned but can't see that myself (very limited knowledge here). I have every faith in the dealer repairing it, I'm just wondering if any of you guys have had similar experiences and what your outcomes were! Thanks Jody0 points
