My hairdressers, when they were open, and my dentist, both do a temperature check and questionnaire before you can get in. One of my wife's coworkers, similar age to us (40s/50s), herself, husband and 2 teenage kids all have covid. They had to call paramedics as she couldnt catch her breath. She had a blood oxygen of 94. Normally this would have been straight to hospital but there are no beds, so they have been left with a portable machine to test their own bloodox and if it gets to 90 they'll take her to hospital. I have a couple of friends who work in UCH and they tell the same story of no beds. You might not get covid, but you might get something else and not be able to get into hospital. So yes, it's serious and no, this is not a made-up story. We either vaccinate massively, or we lockdown completely and economy is screwed and people lose their jobs and houses.3 points

One other thing that could have an effect of a soft brake pedal, if you have rear drum brakes . It could be the rear brakes are out of adjustment. If you pull your handbrake on and the pedal improves , its a good sign the rear brakes need to be looked at or adjusted2 points

There are two ways you can bleed brakes . One way where you can connect a pressure bleed to the master cylinder , it put pressure throughout the system and delivers fluid into the master cylinder as you realise each bleed nipple separately . you usually start the furthest away from the master cylinder and progressively closer to the master cylinder in turn. When the system has run dry it can take some time to get some of the air lock out . The second method is bleeding by pumping the brake pedal as each bleed nipple is released to bleed , the same as above only making sure you keep the master cylinder topped up with fluid. Itโs better if there are two people when doing it the second way . One person too pump the pedal and keep a eye on the reservoir, while the other person releases the bleed nipple. The art to each of these methods is having a clear pipe on the bleed nipple , so you can see the air bubbles coming out , also making sure the air bubbles donโt get sucked back up on the upward stroke of the brake pedal . If the pedal still feels soft, if you have a proper brake pipe clamp , you could clamp each individual flexy brake pipe to determine where the air might be trapped2 points

Hi all just an update. Attempted to drive to my garage this morning with error lights still in place (temp and engine management light). made it no further than half way down the road at max 8 mph. Limped home AA called out and attended really quickly. Cleared error codes: System : Engine control 1 - ZCH / Motronic MEDG 17.0P033900 - Crankshaft position sensor. Error Message : Sporadic fault. P1026 - Unknown fault. Error Message : Malfunction. P129900 - Cylinder head. Error Message : Overheating protection active. Car behaved after that. Advised to change battery ASAP due to rapid discharging while reviewing codes etc. Drove to garage who replaced battery with Ford OEM battery. Stop start worked for the first time since summer, forgot how annoying it is ๐2 points

Because there's 1000s more sick people? You can believe what you like. I'll believe my friends that work there. We moan about having to wear a mask for 5 minutes in the Coop. They're ok them for 12 hours or more at a time.2 points

Correct, the battery clamp won't secure with too short a battery. Ring your ford dealer and ask the price of an OEM battery.2 points

Yes - it's not properly secured and you can't fit the connectors as the box gets in the way!2 points

Not yet. There's over 250 employees on site each shift ( days and nights) one way systems in place where necessary. Staggered start times and end times. Alternated breaks too in four separate canteens with all single seat tables 2m apart. Lifts available only to those authorised via your key card one person at a time which are overseen by security personnel. We had an email from the CEO for Europe over the festive period regarding Covid Covid issues and it went on to say in the facts and figures that last year they spent ยฃ800m on Covid prevention and sanatisation with all the provisions for staff and employees.2 points

I've just been through this mess. Been noticing condensation and a musty smell recently which became worse quite quickly and found this thread. Same problem, spare wheel cavity full of water, sides of boot trim saturated, mould growth etc. Passenger footwells soaked and found its way all over the place. Tried a wet vac but it wouldn't get enough out, and the carpet underlay/sound proof material was so sodden. Having removed the bumper and removed all the water behind the vents, and resealed everything with silicon, the carpet had to come out. Pain in the... Anyhow, needs must. Rear and front seats removed, trims removed and carpet / underlay removed. Not nice. Took more than 24 hours of wet vac, towels, heater etc to remove as much water and moisture as possible. Not easy to remove water from foam underlay when it's basically a big sponge! All back together now, no more condensation every time I get in and the smell is subsiding. Thanks for everyone who's contributed to the thread!1 point

SERIOUS LOCK DOWN ADVICE Everyone PLEASE be careful because people are going crazy from being locked down at home! I was just talking about this with the microwave and the toaster while drinking my tea, and we all agreed that things are getting bad. I didnโt mention any of this to the washing machine, because she puts a different spin on EVERYTHING!! Certainly couldnโt share with the fridge, cause heโs been acting cold and distant! In the end, the iron straightened me out! She said the situation isnโt all that pressing and all the wrinkles will soon get ironed out! The vacuum, however, was very unsympatheticโฆtold me to just suck it up! But the fan was VERY optimistic and gave me hope that it will all blow over soon! The toilet looked a bit flushed but didnโt say anything when I asked its opinion, but the front door said I was becoming unhinged and the doorknob told me to get a grip!! You can just about guess what the curtains told me: they told me to โpull myself together!โ We will survive! Author unknown (not me)1 point

My wife works on a red covid ward and has done so for over nine months, next longest continuous worker on the wards to her is 6 months. She's burnt out but her bosses won't transfer her back to her own ward because many nurses either burn out after a month or refuse to work covid wards in the first place. Forget clapping for them, give them a decent pay rise and a ###$$$$ medal I say.1 point

Just on the off chance that you have air trapped in the ABS (which can't be bled out with the ordinary style of bleeding) you should plug in a OBD interface and open all the abs valves through the software and then try bleed it1 point
-
have you made sure that the ABS has been completley bled as air can get trapped in the ABS unit1 point
-
Try pressure or vacuum bleeding. Next time, hold the brake pedal down with a piece of wood or something of that nature before you crack open anything. Youโll get a slight release of fluid and nothing more when you open a fitting.1 point

as much as I recommend the OEM battery so as the owner's manual, but generally I recommend varta , you can use varta battery finder and specify your make and model and it will give you the most suitable one Car battery finder from VARTAยฎ - Find the best and most reliable battery for your car (varta-automotive.com) note that the MK8 is Fiesta vii on their site ๐ Good luck1 point

You be surprised. Some people including management have some very low views on hygiene and often choose not to do the basics such as handwashing etc etc.1 point

Certainly went into administration around last April I think. Still seem to be trading though - I have an idea I saw an article somewhere about the business being sold or refinanced, but as usual can't find something when you want it!๐ I seem to recall when the 1.0 was first launched Ford doing a prototype around 180 ps and there being speculation that this might be used in a production version. Pumaspeed offer over 200ps and at least one member on here is running this iirc. No idea whether the revised version used in the MHEV is more or less able to handle big increases compared to the original. (You're not thinking of tuning your new car before you even get it, are you?!๐)1 point

We have that at various entry points at work in a warehouse facility and live screen monitors which circle each person with a green ring and turns red alerting at certain pinch points if you are not 2m away from someone else ( It actually sounds an alarm so everyone knows who it is). Regular Covid tests ( two in two weeks, both negative).1 point

I can now update my original posting which might be helpful for anyone who experiences anything similar. With the Christmas weekend looming and the radio having come on again overnight of its own accord, I decided to try and deactivate the radio. Iโm no mechanic and did not fancy disconnecting the battery, but decided to look at any fuses that according to the handbook linked to the audio unit. There appeared to be three โ one in the boot fuse box, one in the box under the dashboard and one in the engine fuse box. I removed the ones in the boot and the engine boxes quite easily. The box under the dashboard was awkward to get at and awkward to open and I gave up on that one. However having removed two fuses the radio was clearly dead when I tried to operate it. So that gave us a peaceful long weekend. On Tuesday 29 December I thought I had better โbite the bulletโ and phone the Ford dealer and book it in. Very fortunately the phone was answered by one of the technicians, who was covering the desk when the usual chap had his lunch. He explained that they would run a computer diagnostic test. If that didnโt show anything they would disconnect the battery, leave it for 30 minutes or so and reconnect again and try it. (I might have got those two options the wrong way round). If both of those failed, then they would remove the unit and send it off to Sony who would either repair it or decide it needed replacing. He suggested I could disconnect the battery myself, but when I said that I had removed a couple of fuses and had thereby disconnected the radio, he said that was as good as and suggested I reinsert them and try it and only then book it in if the problem was still there. So I reinserted the fuses and lo and behold, apart from the first time coming back on in FM it has been fine ever since. I have waited before posting this in order to give it a reasonable chance and also to have driven several times. So all good at present. I feel I was fortunate to have spoken with the Ford technician who was happy to discuss with me rather than automatically just booking it in. Why it happened in the first place remains a mystery.1 point

From your symptoms, if you have the 1.4 semi auto transmission I would say the shift actuator is sticking. Its a known fault.1 point

Iโd 100% recommend ghost. Had it on my focus mk3 for around 8 months and will have it on any future car I get. Iโve also got a fake OBD port aswell which cost about a tenner which means that if they try and use the OBD connection, it will power their device but do nothing else... not that it would help anyway as ghost isnโt part of the OBD system!1 point

Sorry for the late reply to this one. Off hand I cant even remember how long these take dispite having done a few now lol. My advice would be make sure whoever is doing it is familiar with them, I've had one in to redo after the upper and lower belts were replaced but the housing alignment tool was not used and ultimately the crank seal failed very quickly. No change from ยฃ500 at least if its done with quality parts.1 point

Ford won't go near it. Retrofitting is more of a DIY job as you'll struggle to find a company willing to take on this work (costs them money and gives them a bad rep if it doesn't work). There's a guide here on how to do it. There's probably several more on the forum asking various questions so have a search (use Google with "site:www.fordownersclub.com" at the end of your search query. The search on the forum sucks imo).1 point

My elderly parents have had it and no side effects at all. My partner( healthcare profession) had it last Wednesday. she had side effect of slight pain and lump where jab went in and a slight rash round her neck. I explained the rash could have been me trying to choke her in her sleep while she snored!! ๐๐๐๐๐.1 point

I've said this before, but maybe worth repeating. I'm a child of the 60s brought up on the original series of Star Trek. All criminals on the Enterprise were locked up in the brig using a 'force field'. Of course, they always escaped by tampering with the control panel. Even at that tender age, I always thought, why don't they just puts some bars on with a big padlock! If you want to protect your car, get a DiskLok...1 point
