I remember in the 80s I lived up a hill, and at the time drove a Mk1 XR2. After snow, I just sat at the bottom of the hill spinning my wheels furiously, then suddenly, I was overtaken by a Citroen 2CV on the skinniest tires known to man LOL Taught me a lot on how tires work 🤣3 points

Only yesterday the Mrs dropped me of at work and ahem.....borrowed the car for the day 😉 Anyhow she told me lastnight that the car stopped itself during one of her journeys and activated the red screen and alarm whilst bringing the car to a halt, the reason being as she was driving along there was a car in the distance waiting to turn right as the Mrs read the road ahead and assessed that the upcoming large gap on the other side of the road that the car waiting to turn right would have performed its manoeuvre .......it didnt 🙄 So thankfully in her situation the system worked as it should and brought the car to a sudden halt in the wet conditions.2 points

No, but like Tizer I periodically get the pre-collision assist warning lighting up on my dash. I've had my car for about 16 months and until recently have not really understood why the warning should have been issued ... in all cases they had been caused by cyclists riding their bikes atrociously badly but nothing we as drivers aren't used to these days. However the other day I was driving along in a bit of a daydream and the vehicle in front suddenly decided to make a left turn with no warning whatsoever ... the light was such that the brake lights were diificult to see ... may be they weren't working. Whatever the warning came on (no braking though) and I was able to come to a halt comfortably. I was truly grateful for the system and cannot say with any confidence I would have avoided a collision without it.2 points

Personally I'd stick to yearly services. The 2 year service seems like more of a marketing thing to those who have no mechanical sympathy so that Ford can say its cheaper to service.2 points

The volume of the phone conversation is adjusted using the normal volume control of the radio whilst on a phone call. The 'Ring' volume can also be adjusted using the radio volume control when you receive a call and your phone is 'ringing'. The system will remember the settings for volume of the conversation and the volume of the ring. Using the volume control of the radio whilst on phone does not alter the volume of the radio which will remain at the setting it was before the phone call.2 points

At 10,000 miles a year I would have it serviced once a year by a Ford dealer. See if you can find a small Ford dealer locally, then you won't pay the high labour rates for glass showrooms and marble floors but you will get someone who knows how to service these engines properly. Don't worry about asking questions, we were all young once (although some of us can only just remember it) and we were all new drivers once.2 points

Personally I think 7 years expectancy is a bit much for a 5 year old car. I've found 9/10 years old is about the time when the most expensive repairs & maintenance are needed across the board. Id' be looking more towards changing in it's 9th year myself. If you go to the expense of the cambelt change (and probably a clutch change) you'd have to keep the car for many more years afterwards to make that financially worthwhile. When I was buying older/cheaper cars, I'd always buy older than 10 years old so that they had a new clutch and cambelt etc paid for by the previous owner! Unrelated to the car, your posts sound like you're a bit of a worrier in general...I'd honestly suggest that you don't start reading up about all of the potential faults and failures on any car as it'll just make you a more nervous driver. Things can and do go wrong with every car, but not for the majority of cars, the majority of the time. Just check the coolant, oil and tyres regularly and forget about anything else.2 points

The French seem to have discovered the joy of catching people speeding particularly since they have dropped the national speed limit on single carriageway roads from 90 to 80 kph. I noticed quite a few new fixed cameras since I was last in France. So it was a delight to discover my Mk4 Focus enabled me to have a large digital readout of speed in kph on the dashboard. This made driving so much more relaxed doing away with the need to squint at the speedo to read the kph on the dials.1 point

Like laughing at my partner with her choice of viewing tonight. She lined this evening's viewing on TV. She found something on Amazon I think. We sat down to start to watch and we were a little confused at the plot but picked it up slowly and still it wasn't clear really. I paused it after 50 mins of 60mins just to see how long it was. Mmm ..... Season 1 episode 10🤭🤭🤭🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬😂😂😂. Missed the last 9 episodes then. She is such a **** sometimes.1 point

I don't like realising life is passing me by; as I've been working six days per week for the past eight years now, paying mortgage and all associated bills while my beautiful wife, best friend and partner of 20 years; looked after our there kids, Only having Sunday with my family and the dog, Wife has recently began to go out for drinks with friends past few weekends and I'm at home looking after our family having been working my sixth day in work; Meanwhile I'm watching Netflix with the kids and ordering pizza; trying to be as positive as possible. I've also arranged her surprise 40th for next weekend; spent 1,400 euro on that; but I'm not allowed go because she thinks it's a family meal set up by her brothers and sister; plus my wife hasn't slept in the same room as me since early August, thought I'd have a surprise 40th to cheer her up Although I'm thinking who has things in perspective here; me or my wife. It's not a nice feeling to see your beautiful wife walking out the door dressed up lovely to spend the night in her sisters house, after you have spent all week working to provide for everything including her new dress, knee high boots and the vehicle she's driving. Bug changes on the horizon for Len.1 point

@zain611 sorry to read your update regarding the fiesta mate; I will be in a similar situation myself in a few weeks as my focus is due NCT, And well due to a number of recent events; I can't afford to fix it, should it fail the test, So I'll be moving to the Hyundai ix20,1 point

I feel sorry for your damage!!!🙁 My MK4 Focus has the same response with the other friends in here, only notification with loud sounds!!! A red message appears on the screen and beeps loud (i can not remember what it says) but it does not brake at all !!! I like it because in the very dangerous greek roads i drive all the time it is a life saver!!! Cyclists are a big problem here in Greece!!! In a great majority lots of them drive always right and i respect them a lot for their effort and the risk they get riding on these roads! But there are a lot of them too, that are selfish and very very stupid with a bad attitude and behaviour against the car drivers...they think that they have more rights due to their hobby and their size of vehicle that they behave like as@@@@@!They curse all the time and they infiltrate among the cars in very narrow spaces and so does the cyclists with motos...When you close their (illegal) path (justified) they behave like sons of..... Anyway, i think that this technology is good to continue developing because lot of people will manage to return safe and see their families again every day!!! I hope your car will be fixed soon to enjoy it again with safety on the roads!! Have a nice weekend!!! Greetings from Greece!!11 point

'Fraid so. Les gilets jaunes trashed pretty well every one in France and the authorities replaced them all, adding a few more in order to get the country's money back. Pays not to be in a hurry.1 point

The MK3 pfl suffers from a leaking washer pump which tracks down the wiring loom to the BCM. The washer pump can be seen by removing the drivers side headlight.1 point

I have had similar warnings when a cyclist has ridden towards me on the wrong side of the road, but the brakes were not activated. There was no question that the car automatically made an emergency stop soon after I purchased, but yesterday's incident is unclear - I am fairly certain that I did not the brake too hard and I don't think I could exert enough pressure to stop it dead and I am suspicious having had a fault warning only a couple of days previously.1 point

Jim was startled to see the nonchalant way John was taking the fact that his lady love was seen with another man. "You said you love her and yet you saw her with another man and you didn't knock the guy down?" "I'm waiting," John said. "Waiting for what?" asked Jim. "Waiting to catch her with a smaller man."1 point

Ha ha Right yes by using the volume control while on the phone works!!!!!! So **** simple. Why it had been turned down - one of those things? Thanks for all the help👍1 point

That's exactly what I said a couple of days ago but the OP doesn't seem to have taken me on lol1 point

No, I have had the Pre-collision assist warning a few times but there has always been a reason for it and I have been in the process of reacting, so it has never tried to brake itself. I once had a car with a faulty Servo that used to brake itself, but that was in the days before ABS, Electronic assistance etc, so it is unlikely to be your Servo.1 point

I must confess, in your situation, I would get a refund. The car is 'new' to you and your confidence has been shot - imagine if that truck behind you hadn't slowed down! You have no emotional attachment to the car as of yet, and you will always have in the back of your mind when driving that it could happen again. Unofix is right, it's highly likely it has happened before in the car, and if you'd have had it a few years you may be more in the mindset of diagnosing what caused such a dramatic fault, but like I said, if it were me, I'd get a refund and get another car that won't potentially kill you so soon after owning it...1 point

Ford does not use one tyre manufacturer. Large batches of tyres are bought from several manufacturers. Which brand of tyres are installed on a particular vehicle will depend on price, availabilty and tyre size. My 2005 Focus MK2 with 16 Inch alloy wheels did have Bridgestone Turanza tyres factory fitted My 2010 Focus MK2.5 with 17 Inch alloy wheels did have Continental Sportcontact 2 tyres factory fittted. My 2013 Focus MK3 with 16 Inch alloy wheels did have Goodyear Vector 4-season tyres factory fitted (4-season tyres were optional).1 point

For some reason I thought this was a MK3 fiesta, which then made me think that they don't even have a CANbus light out system 🤦🏻♂️ The ones above are decent enough but very pricey when compared with alternatives on the market. Why do you want LED? If it's to get rid of the orange look in the headlight unit then I'd suggest THESE FROM AMAZON If you want LED because they are brighter then there are lots of alternatives, I got mine from https://www.facebook.com/358424617678220/ his name is Andy and is well known and respected in the Ford Facebook groups - I can personally recommend him and his lamps. I've changed every lamp on my Merc with is products, and Merc are very sensitive with lamps, and I've not had one issue or error. If you are still keen for LEDs from Amazon then THESE SEEM OK Autobeam have an eBay page, I use their eBay page a lot because the postage is free. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/254464728425?hash=item3b3f479d69:g:cIAAAOSwxFVdyr4o The autobeam lamps linked by @F0CUE work out at about £28.50 Inc P&P - use code 'LIGHT25' for a 25% discount. The only lamps I can personally recommend are the silver ones and the ones from HNA1 point

Hi, the circuit board of your smashed key looks still to be ok (hard to tell from the photo). You can buy a replacment keyfob off eBay for less than £20. Then just transfer the circuit board and the key blade over and you should be good to go. The mostly non-working key must be programmed in to the car for it to work now and then. Buy a good quality Duracell battery from an electrical shop (Not Pound Land) and replace the battery in your key (yes, I know you have already done it, but please try again). There are a lot of problems with keys caused by poor quality batteries, and most times the keyfobs are fine.1 point

Hankook surprisingly came overall top from the latest Auto-express summer tyre test. It was for a bigger 17 inch wheel ( 225/45 R17) , but might be worth considering if available in your size. 2021 Auto Express Summer Tyre Test - Tyre Reviews and Tests1 point

You don't need to contact them. It should be in the owners manual. It doesn't mean that, it's just the ideal number for keeping the best fuel economy. If you put your foot down when the engine speed is too low, you'll bog the engine down as the gearing is wrong. Surely you picked this up when you learnt to drive?1 point
-
A few months is a bit extreme lol. As long as you service it on time, and using high quality parts/ the required spec oil, you shouldn't have any issues. Most issues with these engines have been caused by poor servicing. You can get away with it on other cars without causing too many issues, but not on the 1.0L ecoboost. Your warranty won't cover any engine damage unless you can prove you serviced it correctly. Use the rev counter? You don't want to be cruising at more than 2000rpm (unless you've ran out of gears, obviously).1 point

A 2006 Focus Mk2 has the (optional on most trim levels) 1st generation Bluetooth/Voicecontrol system. Bluetooth Audio is one of the features of the Sound & Connect system which is based on the 2nd generation Bluetooth/Voicecontrol system. Since audio systems, Bluetooth/Voicecontrol modules and wiring of the 1st and 2nd generation Bluetooth/Voicecontrol systems are different it is not possible to add Bluetooth Audio on a 1st generation system.1 point

This gets asked all the time. The Bluetooth module fitted from factory doesn't support Bluetooth music. I like to compare it to the phone that was released at the time of the cars manufacture date. So in 2006 the iPhone didn't even exist.1 point

I arrived here after Googling the exact same issue. The suggestion unofix suggested to other members of repositioning the rear cam has worked in my scenario so far. Fingers crossed 🤞1 point

The Mrs had both brackets repaired and the top of the bumper resprayed where the light unit housing had dropped and rubbed the paint off on her last Mk8. These were both replaced under warranty as there was a TSB for them back then. That will have been around two years plus now. Not had an issue with either car after that one since.1 point

In my experience (designing, procuring and developing automotive electronic components) I suspect it was originally designed with all 22 LED's and as part of a cost down/cost saving excersise 10 were removed! I've seen switches, lamps, harnesses, ECU's, Clusters, etc all sourced cheaper or functinality removed just to save pennies on each component ... scale that by 1,000,000+ vehicles (multiple components per vehicle) and you can see why they do it.1 point

I have a 2019 Focus Vignale 1.5T(182ps). Soon after purchase it suddenly performed an emergency stop, fortunately with no vehicle behind me. Ford dealer discovered an update was required. Then a few days ago I had a warning "Pre-collision assist not active" with a warning spanner, also the performance seemed sluggish: I drove immediately to my Ford dealer and was informed that the usual cause was a dirty windscreen interfering with the camera-when I turned the engine back on the fault cleared. Yesterday, I was being tail-gated by a van and I touched the brake very lightly to reduce speed and the car stopped dead ,resulting tin a lot of damage to my boot lid and rear bumper. Has anybody else experienced unexpected emergency braking?0 points

Hey all, I’m losing will to live with this horrendous thing Ford produced! I’m the space of a year, if had more trouble with this mk3 pfl than I have in all my cars combined. soon as I can I’m getting shot and never going to Ford again. I’ve apparently have a leak somewhere and that water is getting to the fusebox. I’ve cleaned the plug and the fusebox with electrical cleaner. While this solved the issue it recently came back! I even tried covering the fusebox with a bag and tried my best to seal it. But even that’s not worked. anyone has something similar? When water gets in, it drains the battery and needs a jump start and when you turn off the car and remove the key the engine is still running! I’ve taken photos of Ford scan and added to this post. I’m thinking that the large number is due to the car being started but the battery being flat. TIA0 points

Apologies for the lateness in getting back to you, I tried various things to do the BMS reset but nothing works, I’m just going to live with it! It doesn’t cause any problems or anything Thanks very much for the suggestions.0 points
