  4. Oh stop being such a killjoy LOL 🤣 As long as he keeps his PIN number to himself, and his wallet well secured, he'll be fine 😁 (It may have been a while, but you can buy 'them' in supermarkets now!)

  6. Sounds normal to me. The headlight washers only get used occasionally when you do the windscreen washers and the lights are on. It doesn't do it every time to save on fluid. I don't know what the exact algorithm is, it's probably a combination of time since it last did it and how many times the windscreen washers get activated before it triggers again.

  9. Just glancing at the online manual for a 2020 Focus. It seems to be the same as my Fiesta - press the little button on the tip of the indicator stalk. Switching Lane Keeping System On and Off Press the button on the direction indicator stalk.

  10. If we're serious about saving the planet, they'll have to do a rethink on their business model - which most of them already are, by starting to morph into mobility providers rather than just car manufacturers. The green generation will just have to decide what their priorities are. If we're talking "safety" features like lane departure that tries to steer you where you don't want to go and "security" features like keyless entry that gets your car stolen, many of us can well do without anyway!😀 Probably yes. But I wonder if people really do want all that stuff anyway - is there a real demand or is it created by marketing hype. (Some of it is down to legislators of course.) None of my friends are exactly hard up, but what I hear from them most often when discussing cars is something like "Why can't I just buy a car with the few bits I do want, without paying for a load of cr*p that I don't need?" Being a bit tongue in cheek of course, but I really don't see you can just carry on in the same old way, only with batteries.

  11. Looks like a wheel arch liner to me, new ones aren’t expensive, also readily available on eBay. You’ll need to sort all the clips too, so your local ford dealer could be the easiest option. Should be straightforward to fit if you can get the wheel off. Local dealer or independent shouldn’t charge too much at all.

  12. I fully agree. That was our experience some years ago with our Toyota fleet. One part was made in Turkey, other in Japan. Huge difference in build quality and reliability.

  14. Our kitchen is a steady 15 degrees as is most of the house tbh. Not had any issues with the Fridge freezer which now around 5 yrs old and halfway through its warranty period.

  15. Tom, sadly there are numerous examples of when 'old' technology was far better than new sh*te! The example of Concorde, which flew at 1440Mph, is my favourite. Yes, there would be no chance of me in h*ll of ever flying her, but I just loved the fact that it was there. Over 20 years ago, my phone text service had an option of 'reading it out loud' albeit it a bit robotically, which was great when driving! Old analogue radios changed channels instantly, while 'new' DAB takes a few seconds to tune to a new channel. I'm sure you have your own examples, indeed, an old fashioned fridge/freezer didn't need to be beside a central heating radiator before it worked LOL

  16. I do remember but that's not much help for my query lol. I know an old fridge freezer will be fine, it's this new sh*te that I don't have any experience with! I do regret getting rid of the old fridge freezer now. It was never particularly good and needed very frequent defrosting...which I was struggling to physically manage. Thought a frost free model would be less hassle...and it fairness it is frost free, but mainly because it seems to be blowing hot air around the freezer every couple of days... Honestly can't believe technology has reached the point where we're making a freezer less hassle by just not keeping the food frozen in it... Tbf, this is a cheap Chinese freezer as it's all I could fit in the space I have. My Mum has a couple of slightly older tech frost free models from the 2000s (one in a garage) which are programmed differently so the temp fluctuations in hers aren't anywhere near as bad as they are in mine. Trying to get the program info from the manufacturers was impossible though, we had to do our own testing and recording to work it out! I did try to pass my findings on to the manufacturer of my fridge but couldn't even get past the customer service fools sadly...

  17. well i said i would keep this going with anything that go's on or i get done so here's the latest update. car "was" running great until yesterday when it had a couple of cough's on me. nothing serious at that point was showing up as sticking EGR so that will be cleaned hopefully on the weekend. however last night on way to work it coughed at me then threw me into limp mode, so what i done was pull over and pull the big round multi plug off the sprayed it with some contact cleaner (again) and cleared the light it hasnt been back on since and seems good again. so my conclusion is the internals on the multi plug are where the issue is. for anyone following the error that put it in limp this time was p1201 so same error diff cylinder. my next course of action while im still trying to get a full loom is to see if i can get a 8 pin male/female connector a 4 pin and a 3 pin. then im cutting out the round connector and re-wiring it into separate connectors. as always will update here with anything i do.

  18. Tom, my fridge/freezer as you may remember was bought in 1986, a Hotpoint. for the last 30 years it has been located in my (unheated) garage, and has suffered no ill effects whatsoever due to surrounding environment. The fridge works perfectly (although repaired a decade ago with a new thermostat), and the freezer works to it's -18c parameter, only issue is a build up of ice due to very old technology! You know me well enough to know it won't be going to landfill until it stops doing it's job and is beyond economical repair 🤣 (although it cannot be described as 'modern' LOL)

  19. Trackers should be standard nowadays imo...but people would complain that's against their privacy rights as they already do with FordPass etc. Being able to block the charge port remotely does sound like a good idea though.

  20. Now, what if every battery car in the future had an embedded chip in the charging point which could be read by every charger? That way a stolen battery car could be blocked from being charged, or at the very least, the whereabouts reported to the authorities. Just a thought...

  21. Lol, no I meant the actual chassis design and the physical parts that increase occupant & pedestrian safety really. Security will always be a constant battle as well. Whether keyed or keyless, crims won't stop trying to get around those systems.

  22. Have to agree with your analysis. It just doesn't make sense if the battery is shoving out in excess of 3v for the fob not to work. It must be down to the fob not getting the actual juice, hence bending the spring, or cleaning battery as you suggest. Nothing else makes sense.

  23. The correct battery is CR2032. It is normally a problem with cheap replacements from the likes of 'Pound Land' but if you have a new good battery with a voltage better than 3.3V then then the issue is often a very fine anti-oxidant coating that some new coin cell batteries on them. Normally the springs of the device the battery is fitted in to 'scratches' through the coating and makes contact, but with something like a keyfob the pressure and type of springs is not enough. If you have some IPA, or Meths then give the new battery a clean to remove the coating and then the battery will make a good contact.

  25. Yes now that I have translated it to english it says "accessories", so yes it's right. Have some updates on the matter. My boot is again living on its own haha, opening randomly and wakes up the IC. I'm thinking on the boot switch (the one between the two licence plate lamps), because mine is not working for a couple of months now. My guess would be it's sending signals to the BCM which keeps up the IC because a "door is open". Fortunately it's not that heavy drainage as the radio was, but I will unplug it for the time being and get a new switch. Today I will install a new fuse to the radio slot, so I will update in the coming days about that.

  26. No !! There is a petrol driven generator in the boot to power all that stuff....... They're not stupid you know ! 🤣

  27. The microswitch in the door latch indirectly reports its status to a number of circuits, (a) interior light (b) door ajar warning (c) central locking (d) security alarm. A faulty switch will effect all of those circuits.

  28. Ironically, won't all the modern gadgetry that drivers seem to want in their cars, like, radar avoidance, adaptive cruise, memory seats, heated windscreens, climate control, high beam assist, rain detectors, lane assist etc etc etc run the battery down even quicker?

  31. Thank you for your help. I will have a look tomorrow.👍

  32. I'm almost embarrassed at asking this, but I'll do it anyway. Are you 100% sure the replacements are exactly the same size as the original? Lithium batteries are numerated with 4 digits, the 1st 2 signify the diameter in mm, the last 2 signify the thickness of the battery in mm (just insert the decimal point) So a 2016 battery is 20mm in diameter, and 1.6mm thick. If you made an error in the 1st replacement, you may have just compounded it with further purchases. Obviously if the new batteries are thinner, they won't make proper contact with the internal terminals of the fob...

  33. Not sure if it's much help as I actually had the opposite issue... couldn't get mine off. But check the attachments Simon posted in the below thread...

  34. I had a quick scan, they are both correct, but wording has been changed quite a lot. Audio modules does fit reasonably with satnav & touchscreen. In my proper Ford manual F68 is "Accessory to cluster (audio & navigation unit)" So the essential difference is F58 is always on (battery direct), F68 is from the Ign switch, and is on in Acc & Ign positions. If everything works ok with F58 removed, I would leave it out. It could be that the radio or other modules will forget their settings if F58 is missing, as they will be completely powered down when the Ign is off. But at least they will be less likely to flatten the battery due to spurious activity while supposed to be off. It should do no harm to test it.

  35. And compare Japanese cars made outside Japan with those in Japan. There's certainly is or was a difference in build quality / reliability. There were a few vehicles I worked on that had production lines added in European and other countries. Essentially the same vehicles but with components sourced/ manufactured locally. The difference was shocking!! So when I'm referring to Japanese vehicles, I'm meaning those actually built in Japan.

  36. I know I'm a bit late on this convo, thought mine may be a one off, on a good day I charge for the 5-6 hours and I can get upto 50 max and it stays to that if driving under 30, I told the Ford how impressed I was and they said well some can do this but they can't advertise it.

  37. HI all. Just thought I'd share that I got an email today from Ford to it's Privilege customers, saying get your orders in now, as orders after 30th Nov will be placed on hold and won't be scheduled for build until July 2022. Don't know if that's for all orders for anyone but thought I'd mention it. Cheers
