Thankfully it wasn't my car. Jay from the Inbetweeners was modelled on the guy 🤣2 points

Why don't you find out what the code is and actually fix the problem? It doesn't just come on for the fun of it. Deleting the codes will only make it come back again when the fault occurs. Use Forscan and a modified Elm327 lead to have the best chance of reading the codes.2 points

Agree with above... For a DIB car, blue on black. I had grey on black on a black car.2 points

Hi I have a 2005 fiesta 1.4tdci had him 10 years never had a problem until a few days ago. started up no problem drove about 200yards and just cut out. Wouldn’t restart. No lights on dashboard, no trying to start up, just dead. the only things working are central locking, lights and immobiliser light is flashing, not rapid flashing. breakdown came out, tried jump starting, nothing. Checked battery output said was normal range. visually checked fuses said all ok, thinks it’s immobiliser so is booked in at main dealer for next week, breakdown recovering to there as well as taking me back home as was so close. but any ideas of anything else it could be to try in meantime? thanks in advance for any help1 point

That's not unusual. If some components are completely knackered then the fault light will stay on even if cleared but often things are not as simple as that. A lot of things are monitored when the car is driven and sometimes a fault doesn't show up until it is driven in a certain way for the monitoring for that part to happen and sometimes it takes more than one drive cycle for a fault to show up. Misfires can be difficult to diagnose. Hopefully it will be something simple that is spark of fuel related, but it could also be caused by poor compression. The advice you were given to get your own diagnostic equipment is sound. FORScan is the best by far for Ford cars and for less than £30 you can get set up with either a Laptop or Phone version.1 point

Always go by the manufacturers specs & recommendations.Brand of oil does not matter,as long as it meets OR exceeds the specs.Pads?Plenty of reputable brands available on the market. You do NOT have to use a ‘genuine’ Ford brand.1 point

I'd highly recommend getting an OBD reader and app, get the code read while the light is on. That's the only way you are going to stop a garage ripping you off. You can buy a cheap 9.99 adapter and free smartphone app, or get a £35 cable and free laptop program that allows you to do a lot more than just read codes.1 point

Hi everyone, as my not so original name suggests, my name is Dai and I own a Mondeo 2.5t, First Ford I've owned in many a year, since I had a Fiesta RS Turbo in the early 00's. It's been a great 6 months of ownership and I really love the car, but now it's presented me with a small issue I'm hoping someone here will be able to help me with. Today whilst driving it had a ton of hesitation low in the revs, like it was over fuelling and bogging down. No real throttle response. It would come and go. Then a few minutes later as I slowed down for traffic on a dual carriageway (sods law, 1 Lane closed due to road works) it cut out. I restarted it and it instantly cut back out. I got it started again this time it did have throttle response, and I pulled off more like a 17yr kid than a 39 year old, but it worked. I drove it quite hard home and seemed to work fine. It's standard except a longlife exhaust and a pipercross panel filter. My first thought it oil from the filter dirtying the MAF... I've also read about possible MAP and Boost solenoid issues. It does get used mainly for short journeys but plugs were only done last year but they could be worth looking at. But it wasn't like a miss one 1 cylinder. It was across the board to the point it wouldn't idle. Anyway that's my hello to the forum, any suggestions you have I'll be glad to hear. Thanks Dai1 point

Your fan problem is the classic sign of a failed speed control resistor. I suspect the aircon is not cooling very well and might need a re-gas. It can cool with very little airflow but as soon as you get a full blast it can't cope. You just get an initial blast of the cold air that's been sitting around the evaporator.1 point

Hi good to be part of you’re forum, I recently bought a 2012 mondeo 2.2 tdci titanium x, beautiful looking car and I have some question about remapping and is it a timing belt or chain, any help is appreciated.1 point

Just because it isn’t 100% perfect doesn’t mean it’s not worth using. It does make a reduction in passing it onto others, it does reduce the chance of catching it, it does reduce the effects if you do catch it. These effects reduce over time hence the boosters.1 point

It's unusual for them to seize for no reason. Usually the wetbelt degrades and either snaps, or the bits clog the inlet to the oil pump. Was it serviced on time and using the correct oil?1 point

Hi mate and welcome. AFAIK they are belt driven, but a mondy guru should be along in a bit to clarify1 point

Well, I fitted the front ones, they went on easily and are a perfect fit, using the push-in rivets that hold the protective strip on the lower edge of the wheelarch (I removed the plastic strips), and a screw from below that holds the sill trim to the wheelarch trim. Photos attached. The screw underneath came out with a 4mm Allen key, but turned out to be a Torx head! getting them back in was frustrating 'cos of not being able to find the holes in the bity of trim that they were threaded into. probably easier if its up in ramps rather than lying alongside the car! trim clip removal tool essential, I was able to reuse the trim clips. The rear ones aren't quite the right shape so I haven't fitted them yet - maybe not at all if I can get some NOS late-type Cannon Bodyguards, of which I have one odd one! No sign of any scraping, plenty of clearance. I'll let the eBay vendor know the rear ones don't quite fit but for the price, I'm happy that the front ones do, to save some of the wear and tear on the front end of the sills and along the door. Ford have probably made the rear valance on the STLine slightly different to the ST, which is a nuisance.1 point

Ford oil and filter. DO NOT FLUSH OR ADD ADDATIVES Brembo pads from Europarts are good, seem to have less dust, if discs are worn change discs too. Whichever tyres you fancy I suppose, I like Michelins because you can get 30,000 miles front on about 40,000 miles rear Keep an eye on coolant level1 point

The 17" tyres have to be XL (extra load) spec because they're very low profile on the Fiesta. This is basically extra sidewall strengthening so changing the tyre pressures doesn't make much difference to the ride comfort. The Titanium X did come with 17s as standard though, so I would expect them to be detailed on the tyre pressure sticker on the door pillar. Book figures are 33psi front and 26psi rear for standard loads on the 205/40/17 tyres but always worth double checking the actual sticker on your car. If you like everything about the car except the ride, you could always 'downgrade' to a set of 16" wheels from a Titanium.1 point

A man and his wife entered a dentist's office. The wife said, "I want a tooth pulled. I don't want gas or Novocain because I'm in a terrible hurry. Just pull the tooth as quickly as possible." "You're a brave woman," said the dentist. "Now, show me which tooth it is." The wife turns to her husband and says: "Open your mouth and show the dentist which tooth it is, dear."1 point

Wow! So many replies. Thank you! Please accept my apologies for not replying sooner. For some reason even though I'm following the topic, I'm not getting any emails to let me know there's been a reply to my thread. I've tried to answer as many posts as best as possible. @MarksST Thanks very much for going the extra mile in provide a link. I've been thinking about this and yes I'm not 100% happy with it, but after reading @Neb_engineer reply, I feel that Benjamin's advice is right that my money would be better spent on buying a reverse camera. In fact I'm thinking of invest in a dash cam mirror which allows me not only to see when reversing, it also allows me to record both front and rear, hence in the event of an accident, it's a invaluable tool for insurance purposes. @statts Thanks very much for the pdf document. Yes, the car is good, although a bit rough. I think I'm used to my old vehicle, so it's gonna take a bit of time to get there. As per my reply above to @MarksST, I'm going to get mirror dash cam installed, so I'll avoid the idea of changing my parking sensors. Your right about kerbing because having a look at the alloys closely, I noticed that the edges had been scraped a lot, so I can only assume they've been kerbed a lot. I'm happy with the answers about keyless, batteries and faraday pouches and mobile connections. @alanfp Thanks so much for the tip. I've also found out that in the event of a dead battery, the vehicle is still startable by placing the key next to where a key-barrel would normally go and you can start the engine. @TomsFocus Cheers. Maybe it's the tyre pressure. Since the wheels on Fiesta are not standard, how can I check how much air pressure the tyre needs to be? @Bobr Thanks Bob, I'll keep them far away from the Fiesta at night. @Neb_engineer Well that's really small tank. How much roughly do you expect this car to do locally on a full tank? I guess, I'll have to live with the bumpy ride. I've taken on board what you've said and may purchase a mirror camera, similar to the WOLFBOX 12" Mirror Dash Cam although I may ask for help in installing it without damaging the immaculate interior. I'm happy with the Phone/Bluetooth. If anyone knows where I can find a video showing how to connect such a camera and how to feed the wire to the back (unless I can get a wireless one), then that would be very appreciated. Thanks for all your help.1 point

As above. I replaced the whole filter housing on mine 5 years ago with a Volvo version part number 31338685 (was £163 compared to Fords £228 back then), I'd heard the Volvo one was a newer design with a stronger diaphragm. Quite easy to swap over from memory too.1 point

Not on the mk4 it can't. There is a thread on the Forscan forum relating to it. I was hoping it could be altered to 6 flashes as 3 doesn't seem long enough.1 point

Now when you did that, did your wife's car experience any issues with the swapped battery?1 point

Hi Tom,i have a 2011 titanium and i had the same problem a few years ago where because i don't do a lot of miles in 3 or 4 days it would just turn over even with a new battery. I found my problem which i never thought of,i had a very small tracker device the size of a match box with a chargeable battery which was on 24/4 but would turn off when charged,it was so small and used so less i never thought of it, got rid of that and fine. Is there anything even small that runs 24/7 or can run 24/7 until charged and also you cigi lighter is always on as mine is,it don't run off ignition so anything on it will always be on.1 point

I bough my MK4 used a few months ago, after doing loads of research based on my requirements (somewhere to put a full-sized spare, towing capaicity etc.) I rapidly found the following Hyundai, Toyota, Nissan - have switched or are in process of switching to Hybrid, so cars a bigger than I want, and towing capaicity is of no use. Volvo - the ideal V40 gone out of production, and nothing new enough now available. Vauxhall - Astra would have vbeen ideal, but boot floor flat presumably for hybrid batteries, so no chance of carrying spare. Focus - edge over Astra in that it has a (shallow) well that can be adapted. Hybrids IMHO u/s, technology not mature enought yet and too expensive. How much will replacement batteries cost 5 years down the line?1 point

The problem is not the screen staying on, that's just the thing you can see. The real issue is the screen stays on because something is keeping one or more modules awake. Until all modules shut down and enter sleep mode the screen remains on. It's often a difficult fault to trace, if your car has the separate Bluetooth module (normally located on or near the top of the glovebox) then it can be a good place to start. Unplug the Bluetooth module and see if the screen shuts down after 15 minutes. You could also try using a laptop with the software FORScan, and see if there are any DTC's stored that might indicate problems on the CanBus system1 point

You'd charge £500 for that?? Who do you think you are, a Ford Dealership?? LOL1 point
