My bet would be the external trim above the numberplate that's duct taped on to half the Mk2s around here nowadays...2 points

Before ordering any parts I would get it looked at on a ramp / lift rather than guess (IMHO).2 points

You and your modern car! LOL My old rusty one obviously isn't air tight as I'm wafted with a cherry scent every time I hit the washer button 🤣 Sometimes I press it when it isn't even dirty! LOL2 points
-
I bought the "Cherry" one (from Halfords) on your recommendation, and guess what ???? On the Mk4 Focus you could fill the screen wash with elephant pee because you don't get any smell in the car I have to keep stopping and getting out just so I can smell it 🤣2 points

Try enquiring on talkford.com.... they have a specific Mondeo mk1&2 forum. Uploading a picture will help too.1 point

Sounds like alternator troubles, but measure the battery voltage with engine off, and the voltage when charging. Also check battery terminals are tight. Did you disconnect the alternator at any point... I'd check the terminals are tight at the alternator too. If you disconnect the smart charge plug at the alternator then the charging volts should be around 14.4v.1 point

Hi All, Just passed the Big-Eight-0 and still enjoy driving the Focus ST like an ST should be driven - you won't be held up behind me! Keep smiling Freddy1 point

I'd already announced a few modifications however nowhere accepted the car being lowered ontop of it. But that's what I thought, thank you for your response mate.1 point

Lol I thought you were going to buy a Mercedes for a moment there until the penny dropped!😀1 point

Yes, exactly that! Though if I can get back on the road at all (seems less & less likely as time passes ) then I'll probably go back to personal breakdown cover in any car for a year or so until I've got a long term car sorted. (Unless I use MB which comes with breakdown included.)1 point

Not sure a like or not like really. Bills gone up since I fixed my gas and electric in sept as fixed deals were on the rise. Paying far more than when I was on my last fix earlier in the year But, I've just worked out the cost of I had stayed on variable tarrif as a lot of commentators were advising around then. Come April it would have been an extra £100 a month in my case. So luckily I'm going to save that extra cost approx each month until sept 2023 when my fix finishes. Result!!1 point

I always thought of it more as a bit of an incentive to keep you in the Ford dealer network for service, though I've never had to call on it (maybe I'm lucky!). Won't be a problem doing without anyway if you SORN it!😀1 point

Lol, It was picked up later than planned, 0730 instead of 0700. I think someone either forgot or over slept but that's the beauty of having your own garage I suppose. Car has now been serviced and dropped off back at home so will no doubt get an invoice when I get in from work later.1 point

Plus an alliterative 22 plate is more aesthetically pleasing than a 71 plate... But maybe that's just me! On topic, I've seen a few people collecting new Ford's recently on other forums, though I can't be totally sure that it was within the last 2 weeks.1 point

Just to round this off, I have now had confirmation of the warranty not requiring a yearly service on this vehicle. But that the Ford Assistance would lapse if I didn't have an interim service after 12 months. (Doesn't say much about their reliability expectations lol.) Ford Credit are also happy for me to SORN the car while parked off-road. As long as it is kept insured and serviced at the required interval of 24 months. If anyone would be interested in buying it at some point this year, feel free to drop me a PM, though it's not technically for sale at the moment.1 point

I think you might. Provided you use an oil to Ford's exact specification for your car you will be fine. I think it's WSS-M2C913-C but check your handbook. I used Castrol, Mobil and Miller's to the Ford spec when I had a Focus, but if you're very happy with the Castrol Magnetec why not stick with it.1 point

Yes, I did the answer before OP posted on here https://www.talkford.com/threads/boot-trim-replacement.408572/#post-31971291 point

Powershifts are very sensitive. If you know you haven't fitted a battery in the last 3 years, fit a new battery. Also, remove the earth strap from the body, remove the paint from the area where the earth strap sits, grease and re-fit. There are also two further earth straps underneath the air box, on the chassis legs, remove the air box and do the same to the earth points there too. When you finally reconnect the battery, start the engine WITHOUT pressing the throttle, leave to run for a couple of minutes, then: KEEP FOOT HARD ON BRAKE and take off handbrake Put transmission in "N" Engage "D" and HOLD FOR 6 SECONDS Engage "N" and HOLD FOR 6 SECONDS Engage "R" and HOLD FOR 6 SECONDS Engage "D" and HOLD FOR 6 SECONDS Engage "P" and HOLD FOR 6 SECONDS Repeat this process about 10 times, should take bumps/clunks away. DO NOT TAKE YOUR FOOT OFF THE BRAKE.1 point

Purely out of interest, have you progressed any further solving this?1 point

If nobody else on here knows, I'd just speak nicely to your local Ford dealer and ask them.1 point

Wiring schematics, might be of some help, or they may be of no help. https://cardiagn.com/ford/fiesta/1 point

And owners of even the mache e GT at £65k may need that screenwash. Don't want squeaky wipers on a silent car😂😂1 point

If that is the case then one like the above with Eyelets that you can fix in place makes life more convenient. If your car does have Smart Charging then you need to attach the Negative lead to the Body Earth, not directly to the Battery Negative Terminal.1 point

Sounds like you've done the right thing in getting it diagnosed. ...... might just need an overnight charge rather than a new battery, perhaps?1 point

Interestingly, less than 2% of road accidents are caused by mechanical failure, 98% due to driver stupidity...1 point

Hi Zico! I already reset the Sync module (I took out the correct fuse for 15 min aprox), but the problem continue. The same. I already check for any update in the Ford site, but there is not any file available (Theoretically I have the last version installed). See the image below. It is very strange. I think the only solution is reinstall the original version of Sync 1.0, but my ford Agency does not have the file.. Ay ay ay.....1 point

Managed to manufacture some engine mountings from 3mm plate steel, made paper templates and welded the whole lot together. Unfortunately no pics of these before I fitted them to the car 😄 In the meantime the engine came back out and the subframe had to be modified for the offside driveshaft to clear: - Out with the grinder and the mig welder, the strut had to be built back up in a curve to allow for sufficient clearance for the driveshaft. 3mm plate steel was used for the task Whilst the engine was out I decided to clean up the engine bay and give it some paint, would be nice if it were painted properly in the factory but hey ho: - Even gave the subframe a lick of paint whilst I was at it: -1 point

For those in the future that find this. Took car in to Dealer before Christmas, was told it would take a couple of days to resolve so took in back in early January expecting a simple fix and done situation. However... After a lot of backwards and forwards between myself and the Dealer/Garage they finally replaced the entire "Heater Box" (I'm not a huge car guy) behind the dashboard under warranty. Kept trying to make excuses about leaves etc and suddenly being unable to recreate the issue when I brought it back in after Christmas. I believe what the didn't want to do was put in the work to actually investiage the issue properly. I had to explain to them they were able to create the issue before Christmas, only difference now being it being slightly colder so it might need a small warm up first, etc, etc Got the car picked up a couple of weeks after dropping it off for it to make the noise the moment engine was turned off. Clearly issue is present, car was taken back to Garage. Warranty claim put in last week and I'll hopefully be picking the car up Saturday and never dealing with the Garage side of the dealership again.1 point

Hello John I don't think the Stop/Start problem has been mentioned for nearly a couple of days now. Just search the forum on the subject and it will explain all about State Of Charge (SOC), correct battery charging, The reset of the Battery Monitor Sensor, and how to put the whole lot right using FORScan.1 point

although by then they will probably be self driving hover cars (58 years time) You're an optimist, John, by the way things are going, it's more likely to be a horse and cart!1 point

I don't like that the roof above my flat has a large amount of damage from the storm. The rest of the roof above the block of flats is fine from what I saw earlier, as do pretty much all of the buildings around us on the development. Nipped out earlier to take some rubbish to the bin store and saw one of the hefty brick type tiles embedded into the grass at the rear door. I was in the bin store for less than a minute and came out to see the building cladding also coming off from the flat beneath mine.0 points

Ah but: I know the registration number of the vehicle. It's a 71 reg. Everything is paid for but the dealer says it's something to do with the Ford site being down that they can't let me take it away until they're back up and running.0 points
